Patriots' Bruschi Has Broken Wrist

The Associated Press

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi has a broken wrist and will not play in any preseason games, coach Bill Belichick said early Wednesday through a team spokesman.

It was not clear whether Bruschi, 33, will be available for the Patriots' regular-season opener Sept. 10 against the Buffalo Bills.

Bruschi was injured July 31, likely in morning practice, and has missed the team's last 10 workouts.

Bruschi missed the first six games last season after suffering a mild stroke just 10 days after the Patriots 24-21 Super Bowl victory over Philadelphia on Feb. 6, 2005.

After saying he would sit out the season, Bruschi returned in late October and helped lead the Patriots to a third straight division title. He shared the Comeback Player of the Year award last season with Carolina receiver Steve Smith.

Bruschi's absence is another blow to the Patriots, who suffered three significant free-agent losses: kicker Adam Vinatieri, receiver David Givens and linebacker Willie McGinest.

The team is also dealing with a contract holdout by top receiver Deion Branch.

The Patriots got good news Monday when safety Rodney Harrison, center Dan Koppen, defensive end Richard Seymour, cornerback Randall Gay and defensive lineman Johnathan Sullivan were taken off the physically-unable-to-perform list and participated in practice.

With Bruschi sidelined, the team has been working veteran Barry Gardner at inside linebacker.

Serioulsy dude. I get a TON of complaints because of all the thread hijacking you do. I don't mind it when you start a thread and play with those who are attracted to it... But when you turn a Tedy Bruschi thread into some sort of Roaf validation and take us off track for 20 posts, it gets pretty weak.

I could seriously care less about Roaf. He's a non-factor at his age because he can't hold up an entire season anyway. I don't know if Roaf is coming back and I don't care.

Of course, but it doesn't keep entire threads from being wrecked by one simpleton who tries to turn them all into pissing matches involving his team....regardless of whether his team was a part of the discussion or not. He's reaching mock levels of thread destruction.

The ignore feature isn't going to solve that.

Of all the posters on the Mane the threads he starts or the ones he hijacks are the ones with the most posts. Granted I have him on ignore and I think he is bad for the forum as a whole but he does get responses, I think that's why TJ likes him so much. LOL

The tusk upward is to fight off the flying Chuck Norris when he comes in with a roundabout to his slimy head. That photo is what I imagine what Watermock looks like when he had his 12 pack by 11 am.

Back on topic, this is a bad injury for Tedy. He has to meet and jam blockers constantly, so a wrist injury is going to effect him. He's the type of LB who uses his hands a lot. He'll have to wear some kind of cast/club, so you can forget about those key interceptions he has a knack for collecting, too.
