Eddie Kennison: Wants More Money

Though Kennison said he would report to training camp with the Chiefs, he also indicated that he might leave camp at some point if the team doesn't either give him a raise or release him, the Kansas City Star reports.

Recommendation: The veteran wideout is scheduled to earn $2.1 million this season, but what has prompted his stance is offseason research by his agent that showed Kennison to have the 45th-highest 2006 salary among the NFL's 64 starting wide receivers. "When I signed my last contract with the Chiefs, I think we all know that if I hadn't performed to expectations, I wouldn't be here anymore. Well, I played beyond those expectations. Now it's time for them to step up and compensate me for my performance compared to the guys in my peer group," Kennison said. "I would hope the Chiefs would put me on waivers if they don't want to step to the plate."

Title should read: "Eddie Kennison deserves more money."

Interesting situation. Gotta wonder who holds the cards...the franchise with no #1 receiver to take his place or the 33 year old receiver who won't get a big money deal.

Things have a way of evening out, don't they? He was overpaid while in Denver and underpaid as a Chief (or so he thinks). Seems to me it's a wash. Eddie dug his own hole ... looks like he's still digging.

He is well, worth $10 million a year. If I was him I would walk out of camp until the Cheeps pony up.

If he doesn't get paid he is going to put somebody on their ass.

They should give him everything he wants. $35 million advance. Six year deal. Bust their cap back to the stone age.

It's an AFC West disease this year. :kiddingme

What's going on with the Bolts, are they holding up their end in the whiney receiver stakes? :stirstir:

They got McCardell and Eddie does deserve a lil more money, but not too much. Keep a #2 receiver as the Queefs #1 receiver.

Much like the fans in San Diego, the players aren't sure that there's actually a real NFL team to get pissed at.

It shapes up this way: If the Chargers play a game in a forest and there's no one there to watch, did any wide receiver really have to run a route to earn his paycheck?

I'm sure you understand the problem that underlies the lack of friction in Day-glo.
