I know we shopped Brandon before and with Abdullah really shining sp far, could he be shopped again? Also looks like we will cut some talent on Oline.
I bring this up because listening to Cardinals camp reports here in Phoenix, they are having major Oline problems due to injury, but obviously have no need of another WR. Darnell Dockett (yes we should have drafted when we had the chance) would be a great pickup. He is a restricted FA next year and AZ I guess is going to a read and react type D and away from the shoot upfield style (pretty much the opposit of what we are doing.
Anyways, I was thinking a package deal of Brandon and one of our Oline guys to AZ for Dockett would work.
Total speculation, but we obviously need depth at DT. Any thought or inside info on other camps?

I don't think the team is deep enough, except at WR, to start trading guys away. Myers and Green are the only depth on the OL at this point. Meadows was out for 2 seasons, and Eslinger and Kuper are only rookies. At safety, Brandon is the only depth there. Everyone thought Browner was great last year in camp, and then gets hurt in a preseason game, and he doesn't even make it to camp this year.

I was talking to a Bears fan when the whole "Lelie for Thomas Jones" rumors were rampant. I told him then that I don't want to trade Lelie unless we get something we REALLY need. I told him that I would give up Lelie for someone on the Bears D-line. His response was "Leave my D-line alone!"Hilarious!

I was thinking a guy like Pears (played very well in Europe) and Brandon. Right now they are planning on rolling out a UDFA at RT. Warner can not take too many hits. They all also very short on depth at Safety. Guess the question is are we better off with Dockett or Brandon and I like our depth at S much more than DT.

LB looks decently deep Herc, with Webster, Chuck, Green and Burns.
I remember the year we signed Crockett from Atlanta as a FA and then traded him during pre-season. Could do something similar again with Webster if he plays well and stays healthy.

LB, S and OT were identified as the three big need areas for AZ. So, yes maybe Webster would be moved if the other LBs played well.
However that would deplete the Browncos numbers and Shanny seems intent on getting it to a 50/50 ratio.

Med stated that in his opinion Webster could start with a lot of teams so he may have decent value and unless any of our starters get injured he wont see the field. It's a difficult one to judge because as soon as you trade him you know you're gonna get an injury.

Uhh, hello. We are talking about trading backups for a starting DT. You can find scrubs like Brandon on the waiver wire any day of the week. I'm not saying that this trade is even feasible, but to be against trading backup Offensive lineman and Brandon for a starter the caliber of Dockett is moronic.

This coming from the guy who won't even take a stand, one way or the other, on the feasibility of a quantity for quality trade. There isn't any chance a trade like this goes down since crap from Denver won't net one the Cards best defensive starters. Excellent contribution to this thread. Try to straddle the fence a little more next time just to get in a pot shot.

Trading for a talented DT that had a down year in 2005 and is going to be a FA next year. If you were AZ what would you offer to get a guy to protect your QB and Rookie Multimillion $$$ QB?
Maybe it is Webster (who was a starter and played well) and Brandon (who would start on a lot of teams.) Does having those two instead of Dockett make them a better team? I think it would, just like having Dockett would help our D more than having them back up our starters.
And yes this trade has about .0001% of happening because I am pulling it out of my ass, but Im trying to see what you guys think are possible players Shanny may dangle out there Ala Mike Anderson pre-groin injury.

Oh, I'm with you. I understand the importance of landing a DT the caliber of Dockett. My only point of contention is that we are not offering equal value. I'm not familiar with the Cards situation, so I don't know exactly what they would be looking for in return. Obviously, I don't think a couple of backups are going to do it.

Then why didn't you just say that in your first post? You said you were against the trade because you think we don't have enough depth to trade for him; nothing mentioned about even value or our backups won't cut it.
I'm not straddling the fence, I'm adding much needed common sense to this discussion.
