WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Baltimore Ravens are facing a potentially big problem with wide receiver Mark Clayton, the team's first-round pick in 2005. The issue is significant enough that the Ravens have discussed making an offer for Broncos wide receiver Ashley Lelie and will likely look into acquiring Oakland's Jerry Porter.
Clayton is still suffering from a nagging hamstring injury that bugged him for most of last season. He had 44 catches despite the problem, but he has already missed time in the first week of training camp. Clayton is critical for the Ravens because he is the only receiver with proven ability to turn a short pass into a game-breaker.
Clayton didn't practice Wednesday and left practice early to see a doctor. His explanation was that he has an "alignment" problem with his back and torso.
Coach Brian Billick thinks Clayton will eventually find a training and stretching routine to deal with the injury. That sounds good and all, but finding such solutions in training camp is never easy.
Billick said it's probably a little early for serious discussions about Lelie. Stay tuned.

Clayton mentioned the Ravens being interested in Ashley on SportsCenter yesterday as well, along with Atlanta.

SF publicaly called Ashley soft, Baltimore would be sick with a legit deep threat but who could we get in return, Atlanta loves fast WRs but doesn't want to part with Duckett, Philly and
baltimore are deep on DL and would work out good for both sides McDougle for Leilie and a 7th

Denver turned down a Duckett for Lelie swap awhile ago, and McDougle has done nothing in his career to suggest that Denver would have to be the team that throws in a pick to get that trade done.

No way Chicago comes close to dealing Thomas Jones now... perhaps Michael Haynes? DT is certainly more of a need than DE at this point.
There isn't much on the Ravens Roster that interests me. Not that would be in a fair trade for Ash. Of course I'd take Jamal Lewis or Ed Reed... but that's beyond pipe dreaming.
At this point I'm thinking either a TE like Graham or a 3rd round pick. That's about the only thing I see happening... and more likely it will end up being a no name player and a 4th or 5th round pick... mark my words!

How about Lelie for BJ Sams (return specialist who kicked azz), and Dwan Edwards (DT from Oregon State, 2nd round pick 2 years ago)?

I don't want to trade Lelie to Baltimore at all. They still have a good D and now add McNair, Anderson, possibly Lelie to Jamal Lewis, Heap, and Mason. I've been saying for awhile now I would like trade him to Philly cause they have depth at DT and could use a WR.

The only way I'd trade with the Ravens, if I was Shanny, is if they waaay over pay for Lelie. Otherwise, I'd tell Billick to get lost.
Example, if the Ravens trade multiple picks for Lelie, then ok, I'd trade. Or if the Raves send the Broncos a starting player of some kind, then ok. Otherwise bite me.

As of a couple days ago, Ravens GM Newsome said they weren't interested in Lelie.

I'd trade Lelie to the Ratbirds. The Ravens have always been expected to be a power and nothing. I do think McNair will help but, he's old. Wake me when they live up to the hype.

Lets trade lelie for Pryce???
Screw that, i wouldn't want Pryce and his mouth back in Denver if he was willing to play for free.
I say send Tatum and Lelie over there and get Jamal Lewis.

Well... no GM is gonna come out and publicly express interest in a player.... wouldn't be a smart business decision lol.

We should work out a deal with the Ravens that they would really be interested in then hem and haw around until right before the season starts. Then, at the worst possible time, back out and trade with someone else.

Now that Warren is down, it wouldnt be such a far-fetched idea if Trevor hadn't gone and shot his mouth off about his trials and tribulations of becoming a multi-millionaire courtesy of the Broncos!

Let's trade Ash to the Skins for Portis and their second round pick.
