I'm getting caught up in all the hype of this guy, but before I officially jump on the bandwagon I'd like to actually see some film of the guy.
Does anybody have a link to some video?

Go to Denverbroncos.com and click on the 2nd or 3rd day highlights. They have a bunch of Bell running around. That guy has quick feet! Just a heads up, you'll need to download real player to see any video on that site or NFL.com.

Wow! He's smaller than I thought, but wow!
At :32 seconds he makes that signature Walter Payton jumping double-clutch move ... he does NOT look like a power back though (which one of you said he was 220?)
He goes airborn a bit too often for my liking (can you say Gerald Willhite?) ... but after seeing this, and in light of you guys raving about him in camp, I'm pretty psyched to see him play...

He's bigger than the guys trying to tackle him in that video so I don't know why you think he looks small. He's definitely at least 215 and is listed as 220 on the depth chart.

reminds me of about 11 years back.....
i remember when people started rumbling about some guy who was tearing it up in training camp and next thing you know this unknown was suddenly named the starter...
who knows....maybe history will repeat itself....

Are we watching the same guy? #11 ?
Look at between :29 and :42 seconds of that video. Looks like a smurf to me ... almost like Q .... but 3 inches taller.

I thought the same thing Buff. He looks somewhat skinny, but you have to consider that was 2004 as well. No matter though. I really liked his feet. He moved quite well! And, Khan has said that the dude loves contact. If he's a small guy that can move the pile then great... just shows his strength. I believe Khan though. He's probably running in the 215-220 range.

mike bell isnt a real burner but i think he will still be effective. His real size is 6 1/2 feet and 217 pounds. Thats what he was measured at his pro day. He ran like a 4.65 which is slow but i don't think it matters. How many times does a rb get to run str8 ahead full speed? Playing rb more about quick cuts and vision, toughness, and durability then it is about speed. Besides we have Tatum Bell to put the fear in them.

i prefer shorter running backs...they have better balance....
just so as long as they aren't as small as Q

OSKIE's right - that video was two years ago ... he couldda put on 20-30 pounds since then.
Anyboy notice his Walter Payton-like jump-and-juke move at :30 ? Cool!

His vision looks like his best attribute, and he's got great feet. Falls forward on every carry too.

2004 Video is crappy, Bell is solid 210 plus. Plus I think that he was coming off a case of pneumonia that landed him in the hospital where he lost like 20 pounds over the summer.

I would rather a back like Mike Bell average 4.5 ypc and have his shortest runs be 3 yards than I would a back like Tatum average 6 ypc but have 4 or 5 no gainers or losses scattered between his 30 yarders. Those no gainers are drive killers.
The best thing about TD was that he was good for three yards on 99.9% of his carries. 3rd and 4 was a worst case scenario in those days, and I think MB can be that type of back.

Nice post, you're right it about moving the sticks, controlling the clock and breaking the will of the Defense. that what TD do so well. Hopefully one of the backs will step up.

Wow...that's the first film I have seen of him. How did we get so lucky? Now I know why OM's beat reporters are so high on him! Just WOW.
The reason he looks small is because he's keeping his pads low and his center of gravity solid. He has more than adequate quickness...his vision looks remarkable. He runs low and cuts quick. He isn't afraid of contact and appears to finish his runs. I know it was just college highlights, but damn.
How did we get so lucky?! What a draft!! Top it off he's a Bronco homer! It's blasphemy, but I'm going to say it right now. His running style is very similar to a certain MVP of a SuperBowl when we let loose the Trunk Monkey. (see weapons thread).
I watched it three times and I see great quickness in his cuts. Our scouts keep mentioning that. I honestly don't care if he ran a 4.65 if he explodes and cuts like that in the the first ten yards. He did get up slow a few times like he had sore ribs or was being used like a rented mule. I dunno. That was the only weakness I saw. It's too early to say, but Mike Bell might just play leapfrog this year like a certain blast from the past. I know the kid is a Bronco fan...it's like he studied TD's style to the letter. Again, I don't want to get ahead of myself, but that video showed not good vision, but great vision.
What a fantastic draft! Put Hixon on PS or IR, doesn't sound like.. well...I'm excited about this team rolling right into the next generation yet challenging this year.
We are SOO spoiled!
I'll have to go to the site to try to dig up M. Bell. I'll tell you this much (are you listening Bambi?)...if you come to compete and excell, your going to find yourself on the field on Sunday.

Folks need to remember that after Tuten gets a full offseason with him he could up to 230 pounds.

If Mike Bell listens to the Great Rod Smith, he will know it's sink or swim. I don't think putting on weight is what you want anyway.

It depend if muscle mass or fat weight. If he doesn't lose speed/accleration/flexiblity, the extra mass will help him take the pounding the that a workhorse is going to get in this league.

he was listed 6-1 218 at the combine I read that Greek wanted him to drop to 215 not gain weight he played At Arizona his senior year at 223 made it harder to make hiscuts and nulified his COD ability, he worked on getting faster and leaner before the combine, aside from that He looks thin because 6-1 is tall for a runing back makes him look lankier than he is sloaching over while running to get a lower pad level and what not. Whats the deal with you guys wanting fat runningbacks anyway TD was 5'10 210 that means right now Mike Bell has 3 inches and 7 or 8 pounds on the Beast Broncos bach ever, Portis wasn't 190 when we drafted him and he got injured as a rookie working out trying to bulk up, Tatum Bell did the same thing except his was a wrist and Clintons was a hammy, remember rookie Ashole pulled his hammy running while pulling that thing to improve his size and Nate Jackson ankle can't cut with the 20 something pounds that he gained to play TE. I know we all want 4 Marshalls (tall bstrong wideouts) and 220lbs+ running backs that can grind but those extra pounds and constant beating lead to injury and it is harder to come back with all that added weight on your knees, Olandis Gary, Ricky Williams, Eddie George, Duce Staley, Jamal Lewis, Mike Anderson all have had nagging injuries plague there careers and took longer than expected to heal because the extra weight was weighing them down and making rehad more difficult.

I can't BELIEVE that this kid wasn't drafted....looks like a mini-TD to me...somehow always makes the first guy miss, one cut and then gone, punish the tackler...what were the scouts (including Denver's) missing here? The kid looks to be extremely talented.

M Bell looks like a proficient zone runner in the video. He's confident in his cutbacks, and is willing to take a hit. He's got a leg up on both Dayne and T Bell in those areas.
He doesnt look like he has the ability to beat the second level guys when isolated one on one though. That's where T Bell has him beat.

DENVER -- The Broncos said Monday that undrafted rookie Mike Bell is now the No. 1 running back headed into the preseason opener this week at Detroit.
Denver's coaching staff also said top draft pick Jay Cutler (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7760) from Vanderbilt has been elevated to No. 2 behind starter Jake Plummer (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3895). That puts Cutler ahead of former Colorado State star Bradlee Van Pelt.
Bell had been running as third-string running back behind Ron Dayne and Tatum Bell (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6800) (no relation). Dayne said Mike Bell (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=8008) has earned the top spot, given the way he's been working in camp.
Before camp began, Denver coach Mike Shanahan said the running back position was wide open since last year's leading rusher, Mike Anderson, is now in Baltimore. But most expected Dayne or Tatum Bell to emerge as the starter, and Cedric Cobbs (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6887) has also been impressive.
Mike Bell, however, has turned heads with his toughness. Bell rushed for 3,163 yards and 17 touchdowns at Arizona, but as recently as last week said he was just hoping to land a job.
Bell, who lived in Denver until he was 10 years old, grew up a Broncos fan and idolized former star Terrell Davis (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3183).

I think part of it had to with playing in an otherwise ****ty offense. It's hard to tell with guys from such teams whether or not they are part of the sucking or if they are being debilitated by that lack of effectiveness of those around him. Looks like with Bell it was latter, but it's hard to tell till they get a shot with a better supporting cast (not to mention a system that is tailor-made for them).

Its an optical illusion still trying to find a shot from last week when he is sittigng on the bench hat shows how big and strong the kid looks singificantly bigger than Tatum and Terrel Davis.

His 4.65 hurt him. He was under the radar. Yes you have to be a little faster all the time, but I just read they wanted him to lose 5 or so pounds of baby fat. MoC had 20 pounds of baby fat. TD has a similar time but that was a while ago, but not THAT long ago.
Bell does have some miles on him as a rookie allready but he's held up and this obviously isn't his time to rest on the cusp.
