Just a couple of blubs from this news story.
McRae, the former Big Red general manager, confirmed Bomar and Quinn had been employed at the dealership, though he said he wasn’t sure when they started. They were among as many as 20 to 25 OU football players involved in the last four years to wash and detail cars and to run errands.
Although the NCAA rules violation were uncovered by an internal investigation, it is very likely the NCAA will conduct its own inquiry. OU’s athletic department is already on a two-year probation (through May 2008) for major rules violations committed by men’s basketball coaches
Although penalties were assessed, the school avoided the serious charge of “lack of institutional control.” But the NCAA Committee on Infractions does not take lightly further rules violations while a school is on probation.
This story isn't going away. You can be sure the NCAA will be looking deeply into this one. It is the major story here in Austin, I can't imagine what its like in Norman today.

Wow, now collegefootballtalk.com basiclly the same as profootballtalk.com is saying this:
Stoops To Bolt Oklahoma After 2006?
Several NFL sources told us late Wednesday night that incident to the breaking story that Oklahoma starting QB Rhett Bomar was kicked off the team Wednesday after an investigation revealed he broke NCAA rules by working at a private business and (gasp) was getting paid for work he didn't really do, acquaintances of OU Coach Bob Stoops "will start putting out feelers now to the NFL that he wants to be a head coach there in 2007."
One source told us that "the stuff that Bomar (allegedly) did goes on all the time in college sports ... someone in Norman definitely is trying to break (Stoops') balls." Another source said that "Stoops is tired of all the basic nickel and diming crap that goes on with the NCAA and college football in general ... he's a good guy but eventually enough is enough. I know for a fact that he's interested in a NFL gig ... sooner than later."
Stoops' current contract with OU runs through 2011 and he'll be paid $2.5 million in 2006, and can earn up to another 500K in bonuses. He'll get an additional $3 mill if he stays at Oklahoma though the 2008 season.
One NFL personnel director told us that "Stoops could name his price" if he wanted to make the NFL jump and that "even some higher-ups at Oklahoma think this is his last year."
Our take: Stoops will pull a Nick Saban and do the NFL interview dance after the 2006 season, eventually saying no -- and then double his money when he takes a NFL gig in 2008.

What in the world do these quotes mean? Who's trying to break Stoops Balls? Nickel and diming crap? Before I jump all over these quotes I'd like to know what they are getting at.

Yea the quotes seem a little strange. Who knows what they are getting at.
I got one for you. Lets assume this gets worse for OU and Stoops is tired of it. How many more years will Parcells be in Dallas. Personally, I think Dallas is way overrated this year, if Parcells has a bad year could he hang it up or perhaps even be forced out. I think its logical to say Jerry Jones would jump at the chance to get stoops, and has the money to pay him what he would want.

There is a rumor that maybe as many as 15-20 players are under investigation, and that Hartley and my boy CB DJ Wolfe may be kicked off the team very soon, I sure hope that is not true, I really dig Wolfe.

Rumor is Adrian Peterson, Marcus Walker and Jason Carter are a few of them being under investiation, they could be cleared, suspended or booted, its unclear, but there is a team meeting today to talk about it or something.

Those rumors are pretty unsubstantiated and typical of the looney Sooner fans we have around here.

Shouldn't OU be penalized for playing players who broke rules? Since they played last fall and the money in question is from FY2005, I would imagine OU should have some penalties assessed. Forfeited wins, loss of scholarships, etc. Just kicking them off the team isnt enough.
