I just found out that comcast is no more, its time warner. They will no longer carry the nfl network. It would cost to much, they are showing eight out of market games which would raise the cost sky high. Its sucks because i was really looking foward to watching the preseason games. Here is a link that you can go to and let them know to get real, if you care.

How do all the other Cable companies afford it then ? Screw time warner, they are the biggest rip off out there. There Digital Cable package is bogus. They tell you that you get all these channels but its just the same channel in 5 differnt places. It looks like time warner is the one that wants to pass the cost on to the fan by putting it in a sports package so they can charge you extra.

I would rather pay for this one station than 100 stations I don't watch. Let me pay for the ones I want.

Do you have a link or something to back that up? All I was able to find is that Comcast and Time Warner are jointly buying Adelphia and that Time Warner won't be carrying NFL network.

Well i dont have a link, but when i turned on my cable this morning i had a message that was saying comcast has been replaced by timer warner. I went to the NFL network and nothing, tryed some other and nothing, gone. Called them up and they said, time warner has taken us over. We are trying our hardest to get some channels back, bare with us.

And you're in California so are you trying to say this is a nationwide issue?

I would think its a nationwide issue, if you have comcast cable, timer warner is taking them over and cutting out nfl network, thats what comcast told me when i called them today.

I wonder if this only a local issue...comcast is pretty much the only provider in Denver and will be taking over Adelphia in Colorado Springs.

Here's an article saying that Time Warner Cable in Shreveport LA was actually transfered to Comcast... It looks like just a deal to transfer some outlets between the two companies as part of the Adelphia deal. I seriously doubt this will impact very many markets.
EDIT: Oops, here the article: http://www.ksla.com/Global/story.asp?S=5225784&nav=0RY5

The Time Warner here is suppose to be switching over to Comcast due to the Adelphia thing. I dont understand it but some places are getting switched from TW to Comcast others Comcast to TW all depending on the area. I am not certain about any of this just going on what all has been told to me.

Comcast and Time Warner said on Monday that they closed a deal under which the two firms will acquire bankrupt cable provider Adelphia Communications’ assets, currently valued at $17 billion, Reuters reports (http://today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=businessNews&storyID=2006-07-31T220746Z_01_WEN2734_RTRUKOC_0_US-MEDIA-ADELPHIA-TIMEWARNER-COMCAST.xml).
As part of the deal, Time Warner Cable, the firm’s cable division, will add 3.3 million Adelphia customers to its existing 11.1 million, and Comcast will add 1.7 million Adelphia subscribers, bumping its total cable subscriber number to 23.3 million, according to Reuters.
Both firms will pay roughly $12.5 billion in cash, and Time Warner Cable will pay out stock worth approximately 16 percent of the division’s equity, Reuters reports.
Back in April, Adelphia valued the agreement at $16.9 billion, according to Reuters.
Adelphia now owns 16 percent of Time Warner Cable, while the Time Warner parent owns the remaining 84 percent, Reuters reports.

So they are doing some system swaps it sounds like. This isn't uncommon and has happened in Denver before with the cable companies. Also all Texacos in Denver became Shells in a similar type situation.

All I know and I have been keeping up with the issue b/c I want nfl network. But the FCC gave its final approval about two weeks ago so everything should start to switch. There are a few communities hold over in the Carolines that haven't approved of the deal. Most of the hard work is going to each community; ie the franchise tax that we all see and love on our bill and getting their approval from each communty that is in the swap.

I would have to agree most men tend to only care about the cable or satilette bill all others can fall by the way side. I figure most men are the one that order the cable and all so NFL network should be on every cable providers line up. Time warner is great on customer services espically when you have all three services: phone, internet and cable. But I do wish they carried NFL channel. But my market is switching to Comcast so no more worries except I hope it is done by the beginning of the season.

If you are in Tustin you can get Cox, but go with DirecTv and get the Sunday ticket, you can still get all the local channels, you need Sunday ticket to catch every game, there is no other way.
