Iran awards highest medal of honor to Chavez

Iran awarded Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Sunday the country's highest medal of honor for his support for Iran's nuclear program, the official IRNA new agency reported.

"The medal was given to President Chavez for his support for Iran's stance on its nuclear case at international circles, especially Venezuela's vote against an anti-Iranian resolution adopted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)," the IRNA said.

Venezuela opposed an IAEA decision to report Iran's nuclear case to the UN Security Council in February.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad awarded the medal to Chavez in Tehran University.

"He is the one who has stood against imperialism for years and has defended the interests of his and other Latin American countries," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying by the state television.

Chavez arrived in Tehran on Saturday for his fifth visit to the Islamic republic since he came to power in 1999.

During his talk with Ahmadinejad on Saturday, Chavez said he was pleased with the current economic cooperation between Venezuela and Iran.

"We can defeat imperialism only when we are united, and we will be defeated if we are separated. And this is something proved in history," said Chavez.

The Venezuelan president also met with Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei later Saturday.

Lame deflection attempt, LABF.

You still a huge fan of Chavez, or has some light somehow managed to penetrate the dank, dark, recesses of that cave you call a brain?

It does seem Bush is doing a nice job of uniting terrorism and and whacked world leaders against us.

Get a new tune. Everything is Bush's fault.

Not sure how this is his fault. These two world leaders would hate us regardless.

Or he is doing the worlds dirty work. Other than Iraq, we havent made huge attempts at "invading" other countries. Lately, Bush has used diplomacy more than anything. Although, I have no problem with using force agaisnt N. Korea or Iran if they do not play nicer in the world community. I believe the UN gave Iran till August 30 to stop Uranium Enrichment today. So we'll see how that goes. I predict more UN resolutions that will not be be followed through with.

Why do you think that's the US' "responsibility"?

Because he isnt in the Military , so as long as he doesnt have to go do dirty work , he has no problem with Fellow Americans going in .......

Why do you think that's the US' "responsibility"?

I didnt say it was. But I think when we are threatened by it, then it becomes a responsibility of ours to make sure other generations in the US will be safe.

No one else apparently cares to fight terrorism. Even when those terrorists come knocking on their doors they dont care to deal with it.

Problem is, the tactics and places where we've gone about doing the "dirty work" have been more wrong than right.

I guess that depends on who you deem to be the biggest threat.

Maybe it's you who should look into expanding your "tune" inventory?

BTW, since you're defending Bush, go ahead and post his "accomplishments", I'm interested in reading about those.

Iraq would have been quite far down that list.

Plus it's pretty clear that military force, while it has its place, it's not the one-size-fits-all "solution", as it has been used lately.

BOO! ...when WE are threatened...WHO IS WE?

.......a responsibility of ours to make sure other generations in the US will be safe....but broke, having to foot the bills Dubya amassed while enriching his buddies, and killing thousands....all in the name of Freedom and Democracy, of course!

I agree with the military force. Sometimes diplomacy doesnt work, and it wasnt working in Iraq. I think Bush knows this, and you see him pushing diplomacy a lot more recently.

Oh, we know, just as long as you don't have to be part of it.

Bush and diplomacy, what is that, a joke of some kind?

Yeah - what were we thinking?

Bush's attempt to have Chavez whacked should have imbued ol' Hugo with undying love for the U.S. and should have turned him into one of our staunchest allies.

I forgot to apply the ditto monkey logic, I guess.

Can't you even get your own tune right?

It should read "nothing is Bush's fault."
