After a 7 year retirement, Bas is back in the cage. He looks pretty good, too.

After a 7 year retirement, Bas is back in the cage. He looks pretty good, too.
In his defense, Warpath took that fight on two days notice after Kimo got popped by the NSAC for steroids. Still, I don't think the outcome would have been any different if it was Kimo or if Warpath had 6 months to prepare... Bas can still bang.

Bas could probably win the UFC Heavyweight Championship, the competition is so lame, right now.
One fight back and I'd be willing to put money on him.

I'd take that bet, he cant hang with Sylvia or Arvloski IMO.

OMG, Dana White should kick both of those losers out of the UFC for NOT FIGHTING, their last fight.
In Pride, that'd never happen. The ref would give cards that would subtract fromt their fight purse.
Pride Heavyweights (or any other org's heavys, for that matter..)>UFC Heavys.
They need some new blood and some tweaking of the rules (that penalizes guys for not fighting.)
Arlovski and Sylvia should both be ashamed the way they sleepwalked through their last fight.
Pathetic.
A 42 year old Bas Rutten would make both of those losers quit in the cage.

honestly though, I don't really think Bas today would beat either of those two, but Bas in his prime would own both of them. Supposedly Bas has 1 more fight left on his WFA contract, I would love to see him fight either Ken or Frank Shamrock. Although I think he's said before he'll never fight Ken again because they've grown into good friends or something.
But yeah, UFC's HW division sucks. Maybe Brandon Vera will come in and kick some ass.

I don't know.
Even now, Bas is a better striker than those two combined ever have dreamed of being. Chances are a fight with either of them would not go to the mat and Bas has a World-Class chin, to boot, unlike the glass-jaw brothers.
Let's not forget that Bas is also a King of Pancrase. (submission wrestling champion.)

I do like Brandon Vera, however. He is looking very good, recently. Also, the Snowman, certainly deserves some mention, as well.

I agree with 90% of what you said. That fight was painful to watch. Bas has a chin but if arvloski or sylvia hit that chin solid he's going down. Bas was good in his prime but to say he's own anybody right now after beating a very very weak opponent in Warpath is ludicris. Let him fight a somebody and then we can have this conversation again.
