thier song not ready to make nice ........... Agree /Disagree with them , you have to admire how they took the hits , death threats , paying the price for speaking thier minds , and they bounce back ................
Too bad more Americans didnt have thier sand when it comes to making a stand .........Mega Props , Strong women ......
I've never listened to them nor do I particularly care to. A tempest in a teapot, really.

I've never listened to them nor do I particularly care to. A tempest in a teapot, really.
it is much deeper then that ........... principal , making a stand , paying the price , getting knocked down and getting back up for more , that takes more guts then just going with the flow ...... I like Toby Kieth alot , he is a registered Democrat , but he took the easy road ......... you have to admire strong people making a stand W*GS ............

you Know Jimmy Hoffa was another one , sure he was a shít , but he was a shít on a mission ........ Piss off the Kennedys when ever he could .......... Strong man , the resolve of steel , he forced companies to treat people like humans , spilled blood , withstood court trial after court trial , was killed in the end , but too late Hoffa had already won the fight ........
Singing a song that knocks a politician isn't taking much of a stand - not a whole lot more than a bumper sticker.
It's not like the Dixie Chicks have been imprisoned or have truly suffered for their views.
And I don't listen to them but not because of their politics - I don't much care for their style of music. Kinda like hip-hop.

Just like CEOs not being paid as much as they used to be, the Dixie Chicks are hardly headed for the soup kitchen.

Nashville (and country music in general) is pretty much run by Republicans. For a country/western act to be "blacklisted" by Nashville... and for a lot of country music stations to refuse to play their music... while organizing "CD destruction parties"... could totally ruin an artist's career. And at the same time, the Chicks needed to hire bodyguards because of all the death threats they received. Yeah, they took a strong stand and paid a heavy price for it. In the long run, however, they appear to be talented enough and popular enough to overcome it.

It takes guts to stand up against the "love it or leave it", "if you're not with me then you're my enemy" types. Like them or not, you have to respect that, especially since they did it in the ultra-conservative genre of C&W.

You're right the real world is brutal. When I drive down the street and see guys roofing, digging ditches, and construction, I appreciate the fact that I made something out of my life instead of doing manual labor. I agree with you. We all have choices to make. I made mine early on and started working for the government at 22. I have no regrets at all.

I don't have time to mix politics with where I shop. I need something, I go get it, reagardless of where it is. If it's Wal-Mart, so be it. That's so minimal to me where I shop. I don't get into all of that.
Dixie Chics - one complaint I have with them. Don't go to another country and slam your own country. I just don't like that one chic that made her statement. Not that she was right or wrong, just the way she did it. Not much class in my opinion. Again, that's my opinion.
I'm far from liberal, but I liked Clinton. I like Bush, but he's made mistakes. What president hasn't. And tell me, what President could do the right things 100% in todays world. He's had more stuff happen on his watch than most. Anyone. Dem or Rep, would make some mistakes. None of us are perfect.
You live with it and ove on and hope everything works out. I hate terrorism though. I like the fact that Bush does too and tries to make the world better, although he makes mistakes along the way. Terrorism needs to go. Hezbollah and Hamas needs to be destroyed. Anyway, enough of that.

True... some people do take things too seriously... like the people who would actually make a death threat against a celebrity merely for expressing an opinion contrary to their own. Most people who didn't like what Natalie Maines said would just say... oh, well, she's an idiot and I don't agree with her. Making the effort to write to her and threaten to harm her crosses a line into "deranged" imho.

Right!! To actually write a letter or whatever is going a bit too far. I agree. Personally, I think she is an idiot though. I wouldn't want her dead for it though.

We buy from Wal mart , Wal mart buys more from Chinia to replace what we buy , this in turn puts more MONEY into the communist goverment , therefore when you shop wal mart , you are supporting communism ......... Please let me know if I need to break it down more for you ..... I am here to help
Meh, I don't shop at Wal-Mart because the stuff they sell is crap. That crap happens to be Chinese, but it's still crap.
Let me posit this example. I like to buy Phat Farm clothes. They look good and since I'm a rather large fella they fit me nicely. (Say what you will, personally, I like the urban clothing movement. I finally get clothes that are comfortable, but I digress). Russell Simmons, who has a nice chunk of change himself, owns the product. Russell Simmons supports reparations, I do not. Another debate but we fundamentally disagree. My belief is that Simmons makes a product I like and what he does with his money is his business. Someone else comes along and makes a quality product to compete with his I'll consider a purchase. But as it is, I'm a loyal customer. Good for him. My money ceases to be mine once I hand it over for the product or service. If China made something worth a damn, who knows, I may have a moral quandry because their an oppressive tyranny and Russell Simmons is a businessman with whom I disagree.
On the other hand, the economics of doing business with China does give them an incentive to lend us an ear in the geo-political arena since they have a vested interest in the US. Change of any sort there is going to come very slowly, but tremendous strides have been made in recent decades.
I guess my point is that these things tend to be a bit more complex than simply buying a product produced by an individual, company, or nation= explicit support for their activities. But certainly a case can be made to rebut that and I recognize it.

I fall into some country now and then, but I'm more of a Merle Haggard, Willie (who doesn't like Willie?), Toby Keith is decent enough, George Strait, and such. Reba's good also. But most country now seems like light rock of yesterday, which I didn't like then and still don't have much of a taste for. A little too Mickey Mouse for my liking. But, whatever. The Chicks got to voice their opinion and their fans voiced theirs. BFD. Like I said elsewhere, if they've got a product I like, what they do with their money is their business...mostly.

1. I'm neither staunchly pro-life nor staunchly pro-choice. I'm staunchly pro-me deciding who lives or dies. It's not perfect, but it's the best system we've got.
2. I don't shop at Wal-Mart...it's crap. Setting that aside, I recognize the niche it fills in our economy. So should I have the need to shop at Wal-Mart then I'm sure my personal economic situation (i.e. food, clothing, shelter) would trump my idealogical belief regarding another country's policies that I can do very little to change, personally. But I'm speculating. Perhaps others can elaborate on this.

So by your own bizzarro logic, you Hadji support terrorism. You buy fuel which is made with crude which is imported from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, etc..
Buy fuel = supporting terrorism. Makes sense doesn't it?
And actually you support terrorists even more because your drive one of those big rigs, right? Oh, and because it's a diesel it sends even more emissions into the air, so not only do you support terrorism, but you also support global warming.

Many of those who have recently defended WalMart have also expressed a staunch pro-life position. And the two positions are not compatible. If their dollars are going (directly or indirectly) into the pockets of a government that as a matter of course forces its people to abort any children conceived other than a firstborn, then they are, in essence, voting with their pocketbooks for abortion even if the fetuses do happen to be Chinese and not American.

Is this all you have to defend your ignorant, hate-filled death wishes? Why is it you, Errant and Steve Tensi think murdering people that hold different views is perfectly OK?

So by your own bizzarro logic, you Hadji support terrorism. You buy fuel which is made with crude which is imported from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, etc..
Buy fuel = supporting terrorism. Makes sense doesn't it?
And actually you support terrorists even more because your drive one of those big rigs, right? Oh, and because it's a diesel it sends even more emissions into the air, so not only do you support terrorism, but you also support global warming.
and if I buy Canadian fuel ? how about Mexico ?
why do I have to shop truckstops that only sell middle east oil ?
Teh TA doesnt , so when I buy from them I am not supporting middle east , how does that factor into your limited thinking ?
and do I support global Warming ?
I have told you time and time again , perhaps 1 more time wont hurt ..... I dont know the cause of global warming .. man or natural , so why should i quit if iam not the cause ?
Somebody has a choice to go into wal mart or not ...........
But thanks for playing errand , and like always you have my pity ......

Well, I don't have that quandry. As I said, my beef is that China is stepping on my jurisdictional toes regarding my staunch pro-me deciding who lives and dies policy. So that's problematic, and now that I consider it....I'm not shopping at Wal-Mart.
All seriousness aside. It's clear you're playing a little moral "gotcha" with those who's financial circumstances might dictate they choose Wal-Mart over other higher priced options. Me? I don't really have a position one way or another, these folks can do as they please and as best suits them. If their choice is food, clothes, mortgage, day care or sacrificing a bit to ensure that they do not conduct business with Wal-Mart, and by extension China, that is their question to answer. But also consider that those who would most likely fit into this category would probably end up buying Chinese goods from another retailer who avails themselves of the cheap labor and goods out of China. So should the pro-life lobby be pushing to end trade relations with China? Maybe. Would I support that? Probably not...unless it resulted in me securing a firmer grip on my staunch policy of pro-me deciding who lives or dies. :approve:

The group's Accidents & Accusations Tour began in July 2006. Ticket sales have been strong in Northeastern markets such as Toronto and Philadelphia but many other dates have not met projections.[9] Four cities have been dropped from the tour schedule including Memphis, Oklahoma City, Indianapolis, and Fresno, California. The Houston box office has stopped ticket sales as well. Some speculate the group's management is being forced to re-think the entire tour.[10]

Dixie Chicks film could be an issue
The politically charged documentary "Dixie Chicks: Shut Up and Sing" has been picked up for worldwide distribution by the Weinstein Co. A release is tentatively scheduled for the fall, possibly right before the November elections.
It chronicles death threats, political attacks and radio boycotts against the country trio, and that could make the film a political hot potato as well as potential ammo should longtime Democratic party supporter Harvey Weinstein become involved in the fall political campaigns.
