In keeping with the new WR&P guidelines, and as a former leftist myself (Give me a break, it was three decades ago.), I'd like to start a thread here about some of the more lovable leftists I encountered on my journey to the dark side. Or the Right side, depending on how you view it. Feel free to chime in with the folks you actually respect.
Try to leave the folks you don't respect out of it. Please.

Leftist Number One: Abbie Hoffman
This guy's at the top of my list. He knew political theater like no one else before or since. Love his politics or hate them, it just doesn't matter. This is a guy that could show Rick Santorum why he's in trouble and make Rick believe it.
Great quotes:
“Sacred cows make the tastiest hamburger.”
“Free speech means the right to shout 'theater' in a crowded fire.”
Abbie died way too young, in my opinion, but he must have died at exactly the right time in his opinion. He decided to take a lethal dose, and he was gone.
"Revolution For the Hell of It" is still a prized possession in my library.
