For you federal employees the recent decisions by the justice system have not been in your favor in regards to whistle blowers.

Fortunately, it looks like Congress got something right. I couldn't find an article with a link, but this came through the network here at work.

2. Broader Whistleblower Protections Backed The Senate has approved a strengthening of federal whistleblower protection law, including several changes designed to overcome what supporters term overly restrictive decisions by federal courts. The Senate adopted as an amendment to its Defense Department authorization bill provisions that had been pending as separate legislation for several years, including a guarantee of protection no matter to whom a disclosure is made, and the option to appeal cases to federal appellate courts other than the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals-- which currently has exclusive jurisdiction and which handed down the contested rulings. Unlike similar legislation that recently moved through the House Government Reform Committee, however, the language would not apply to intelligence agencies.

Whistleblower, Qui Tam lawuits vs Diebold progressing

Mike Malloy had Mike Papantonio on his show July 12 for an update on the Qui Tam lawsuits trying to bust the voting machine fraud by Diebold and other companies. Papantonio says that within 60 days, the records will be unsealed and we're not going to believe how horrible things are.

When the American people hear what is unsealed, "People are going to think this is a third-world country."

"Republicans are not stealing elections with M-16's yet, because they don't have to."

"Thank goodness for BlackBox Voting and the Voters Integrity Project."

BREAKING NEWS: RFK Jr. to Bring Lawsuit Against Diebold and Other E-Voting Vendors

Internet blogs are afire today with posts regarding last Saturday's Air America radio show, Ring of Fire hosted by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and attorney Mike Papantonio, mentioning lawsuits to be brought against Diebold and other electronic voting machine vendors in the coming weeks. On the show, Kennedy and Papantonio discussed their lawsuits against Diebold and the other electronic voting machine companies that "helped the Republicans steal Ohio in 2004".

According to bloggers at the DailyKos.com, RFK, Jr. explained that the law they are using which dates back to Lincoln and the Civil War is regarding actions that are against the "best-interest of the public". Testimony already spoken about in public may not used, which had hindered other attempts at investigations. Whistleblowers must testify first, before going public. Apparently, RFK Jr. has legitimate whistleblowers whose testimony is not of the public record, so their suit can go forward.

Some details from the DailyKos.com are:

The suits being filed are called qui tam suits;
Qui tam suits provide for triple damages;
The attorneys intend to put some voting-machine companies out of business; and
They intend to depose Republican machine bigwigs such as Chuck Hagel, Katherine Harris, and Kenneth Blackwell.
Once the suits are filed, they are kept secret for 60-days for judicial reviews.

This represents the beginning of a major step forward toward following the rule of law and seeing justice done.
