Just think... only a few more precious weeks to get your last nights of full sleep. Have you and the wifey pre-planned out doodie-duties yet? All I can say is, hopefully the nursery is downwind of the master bedroom as baby poo is some of the most lethal toxins in the world (and has the power to peel that fresh paint off the walls)
Have you two figured out a name for the little guy yet?

Not exactly. My wife knows that I'm going to brainwash Broncos and Baseball into the kid (hey, it just happens), and that eventually that will lead to a room with sports and horse heads on the walls. She wanted something cutesy while she could.
Works for me...

Yeah... I don't know how manly this set is. I mean, I guess it's animals and stuff, which is cool for a boy. But you can tell it was made by a girl. Just look at how friendly that alligator looks. If it were made by a guy, that alligator would at least have blood on his mouth... Maybe a headless squirrel in his friendly little paw there.
I think I might have to magic marker that in.

Good stuff, Taco. If you think painting the room took a long time, wait until you have to put the changing table together. The guy at Babys R Us just laughed at me when I bought it. (Looks nice, though)
We converted a little section of our room into a baby room. Painted, stenciled, etc. Fun stuff.

FYI - THey say not to use the bumper cusions in the cribs as the baby can suffocate against it. Sure you heard all about that. Other wise it looks nice. We had 2 scottie terriers so the wife made a theme of 2 scotties looking a heart she stuffed them & mounted on the wall & my mother in law made her a quilt everything is red & black (dogs black heart red!), turned out nice no pink thank god!

Keep several red bath cloth in case of emergency where your child becomes invovled with the pavement and thus they can't see the blood. It helps keep the crying and hysteria down. It worked on me and my sister of couse my mom brought red beach towels.

I work with 2 year olds and they are always wiping out on the bike track we have on our playground. Great Idea! Thanks!

Oh man... This nursery is a lot of work.
So far I've got the crib put together, and the changing table about 1/3 the way through. The sucker we bought is a behemoth! I've got a raging headache right now. I think it's beer-thirty.

I think it's important that momma gets to have things set as she wants them since she's going to be spending so much more time in there doing mommy things. She's all over the cute aspect of the stuff too, which it definitely is, but I like the set because of the learning aspects of it with the variety of animals. The more I get the kid excited about animals and the outdoors, the more likely he'll enjoy backpacking and adventuring (which I really enjoy). ^5
Now to have the discussion about which wall to put the Broncos Pennant on. ROFL!

dont worry, at about the age of 6 or 7, i decided screw the damn cowboy theme so got rid of all that and put wheaties boxes where the wallpaper border thing was(whatever the thing is called at the top), plastered the room with tons of sports memorabilia with the center piece(atleast then) being a signed, authentic romo jersey as well as almost a full wall of poseters of the broncos and LSU. as a matter of fact, im looking at "the dive" right now along with john raising his hands as TD waltzes through the pack for the last TD. beautiful.

There was some product called butt balm ....
Old Ben made one trip into the nursery for a diaper change. One sniff and he was out of there. After that he'd only come in when Little Girl Dog was in her crib. Then he'd lay down next to it and go to sleep. He was a good dog.

Make sure you buy a crib you can crawl into that supports your weight! I got into Abby's once or twice to quiet her down & get her to sleep. we bought one that converted into a full sized bed which is the config now so it was sturdy enough for both of us. We didn't have to by a second bed later.

True story. Mrs Dog had me paint the nursery. We'd bought this old house, and Kilzed, sanded and painted the small bedroom, then tackled the master bedroom, and then remade the smaller into the nursery. So, I paint it with what she gave me. She didn't like, so she got a second paint, and made me paint over. The first wasn't bad, the second not much different. BUT, she wanted a third one. BAD WORD I said. Paint it yourself. So, six mos pregnant she did. That's still the paint on the bedroom walls, and it's the wierdest pale blue. Sun's right, and the walls look pinkish blue.

We are going on our 3rd foyer light in 8 years! Not because any have failed mind you but because the wife didn't like any of the ones that were there. I agreed with the 1st one we inherited but the last one I put up is staying up!

Ha! You spend all that money on a nursery and two years later you're redoing it anyway...good idea to buy a convertible crib...
...and besides, TJ will probably only hold out for two years...maybe...until it's a full blown BRONCO bedroom! Ha!
P.S. I probably would have done Broncos from the start ;D

This is totally not my style. But for some people I'm sure this would be the greatest nursery ever. I'd rather have this than clowns. Evil evil clowns with their red noses and pointy teeth and plague victim faces. My child will have a UFC themed nursery, complete with an octagon shaped crib using chainlink fencing for the sides.

dude. when i have a kid, i am so doing the Malboro Man themed nursery. brilliant. actually, no, the condom one. definitely the condom one. that way i can instill safe sex into my kid's head from birth.

When this unfortunate child is either frequenting leather bars or on a rooftop with a high powered rifle one day, don't say I didn't warn you of the perils of hoisting a fanged, claw-bearing, ravenous carnivore over his bed.

I just hope when the boy grows up to be a gay vegan-quaker man she's still around for him. And what's with the name "ayden"? It's AIDAN, you people! Just thinking you can change the spelling of any old name you choose is typical of people who would decorate a baby's room in the style of a violent and unpleasant sport.
Gross room, by the way, and the curtains/drapes/window treatments are a Truman Capote short story in and of themselves.
Posted by gaydar at 07/14/06 12:25 PM
I guess the ironic thing is Melissa & George are always talking about God and prayer and yet instead of having a Christian image for the baby to reflect on they decide to have a idol all set for the baby to worship. I bet weekends in Kentucky consist of worhipping the Wildcats and beer on Saturday, going to church followed by worshipping whatever sports team and more beer on Sunday.

What kind of design skills can we expect from ignorant backwoods gully jumping ridgerunning peckerwood inbred hillbilly hicks? The really frightening thing about this is that people who think it makes sense to confront their child with a picture of an attacking wild animal are trusted to vote.
Posted by falkenberg at 07/14/06 2:56 PM
Wow, a fabulous combination of two of modern society's most unhealthy, cult-like preoccupations: procreation and professional sports!
Posted by Bob at 07/14/06 3:05 PM
I'm glad you are gearing up your baby to be a sports fan. Sports are the only way people can come close to relating to each other, and provide a good framework through which to view the world. Simplistic and not requiring too much intelligence, identification with simple colors and mascots is a perfect primer for being an ignorant middle american bigot. He will have all the tools he needs to instantly see brown people as bad, non christians as bad, and anyone who does not were his team colors as worthy of spite, mockery, derision, and no sense of humanity. He will blindly vote for any politician who promises to bomb them, and he will teach his children to distrust anyone from a different team, and that the concept of teams is the basis for human interaction, just like his parents taught him. Hoo-Ray for another generation of stunted morons.

yes it definitely helps with mom and dad are bronco fans....we are gonna paint our sons room bronco blue with orange and blue bedding and of course bronco stuff on the walls...andy already has many "little broncos" along with getting his first jersery for his 1st bday.....ryan (due in Oct) will be coming home from the hospital wrapped in his fleece fuzzy broncos blanket (they dont make broncos gear for newborns)....so whenever daddy gets in there and paints the boys can have their blue room....maybe that will motivate him.....
