View Full Version : NFL Head Coach 2006

I couldn't help myself. I had to get it.

It looks pretty involved. So far, after an hour, I've created my coach, set my philosophy, signed on with the Broncos, and gone through the orientation. Matt Millen offered me $18 million over 5 years, but I took the Bronocs offer at $4.5 million over three years.

For some reason, the owner of the Broncos is some guy named Travis King. He's demanding that I take the team to the conference championship, while increasing Plummer's TD output. He's also making demands of me to improve the defensive sack output. It looks like I've got my work cut out for me.

I guess I have a staff meeting coming up. But it's late and I'm tired.

Send the Tasmanian Devil and Gold off the edge in a cross rush! Gold inside after the Devil draws the LT outside.

Well TJ I have put in close to 30 hours on the game and have just made it to Game 1 (reg season) so if want a time drainer then you have one. Also let me know how you improve you sack total because it isnt working for me yet.

You must have accidently set your profile to "1st round WR prospect" mode.

i thought I would like it more but all that mundane stuff, just sitting in the office, answering stupid questions just not enough action to keep me wanting to play.

They needed to just find a way to incorporate a lot of this stuff into options in the franchise mode in Madden. I always wished I had more control and it was more realistic in there. Love the commercial with Jeff Fischer, though.

I was going to get it, but it would cut into my valuable Fifa World Cup playing time....er, I mean, work.

I was going to get this but I got Star Wars Republic Senate* instead. I'm currently arguing with the Ithorians on their environmental policies with regard to econmic growth on Tatooine. I migth have to eliminate the representative from Corellia...he's paying money to cheap labor forces in the mines on Kessel

I've taken the Mattt Leinart-Micheal Huff led Saints to a 5-0 starting record. Oh, and I traded Joe Horn and Mike Mckenzie to the Falcons for Deangelo Hall and Roddy White. Hall has 8 Picks on the year.

Star Wars Republic Senate would be boring, but Coach gives everybody a chance to prove they can coach better than Mike Shanahan. Somebody on another thread complained that the A.I. sucked because Plummer wasn't throwing to the open receiver. That just sounds realistic to me. ;)

And 2 1/2 hours was when I fell asleep on it last saturday. You can skip alot of the practices but your players tend to get hurt and they dont ness. run the plays you like so i do it all. That way all the plays I want to be money plays getthere and as long as I have coached the practice I never had a guy get hurt.

ive read other reviews where people trade hold outs and aging vets for first round picks. One guy said he was able to get bush, chad jackson, aj hawk and vince young in the draft. I know the game is meant for fun but they should make the trades a little more realistic.

Well, I one season, I took over the Saints, traded Aaron Brooks and my 2nd round, as well as Charles Grant to the Raiders for the 7th overall pick, and drafted Matt Leinart and Micheal Huff at #2 and #7 overall, respectivley. I pulled off a blockbuster trade with the Falcons, sending Joe Horn and Mike Mckenzie to them for Roddy White and Deangelo Hall. They got fleeced...Roddy White had 472 yards and 4 TDs as a #3 receiver, and Hall got 10 picks on the year, while Horn had 302 yards, and Mckenzie had 2 picks. Huff had 8 picks and 4 sacks, while Leinart threw for 2000 yards and 22 picks to 20 tds....Mcallistair ran for 1600 yards. I got Wimbley in the 2nd round the first year...and some guy named Mccoy, and MLB, in the 6th. Moved him to ROLB, and now they form the best OLB tandem in the league. Lenny Walls has 4 picks for me.Anthony Simmons anchored the MLB spot, and had 141 tackles. Noone on my team had even 9 sacks, though Wimbley had 8. Did I mention I drafted John Mccargo in the 7th round?

I went 14-2(A 9 win swing), and won the Superbowl and did'nt win Coach of the year. It went to the coach of the Patriots(Called NE Coach cause Belicheck does'nt want to be in Video Games), after they went 11-5 and lost to me in the big game.

So angry I did'nt win Coach fo the Year...but I won Comeback Coach of the year....which is ****ing retarded. This was my first year as a head coach.

For the record, the Cheifs won the Division, but the Broncos still made the post season....with a 8-7-1 record. What the ****? Plummer threw 26 picks to his 18 tds. Good thing they drafted Reggie Mcneal.... :)

Im getting sick of it...Thought it would be a challenge, I traded Jake and took Cutler, so far he has 39 interceptions yet im 13-1 because my defense gets 8 turnovers and allows about 60 yards per game, as well as about 3 points per game. God, its so damn annoying, I wish we could change difficulty settings, or at least sliders so I could tone down the damn turnovers. Oh well, guess after this year, once I win the Super Bowl, Ill try to coach the crappiest team out there in hopes of having somewhat of a challenge.

I haven't played Head Coach, but I've played Madden coach mode before. It's abysmal. I suspected Head Coach was going to be more of the same, and it is, at least on the field.

Doing all that off-the-field stuff is great, but if you don't get to actually SEE the fruits of your labor in actual gameplay...it's just not worth it.

Another paper-thin product from EA!

The games are fun, the practices are fun, most of it is a lot of fun...Where they screwed it all up was no difficulty settings, no sliders, and we are locked in to playing 5 minute quarters.

For the certain type of gamer it is but I stand behind my rating of 6.5/7 out of 10. To many bugs, poor A.I., and no options (difficulty, time, sliders).

yep...games dont feel realistic because of all the stupid turnovers and because it is so easy. Next year, if they fix all the bugs and give us difficulty settings and sliders, this game will be awesome.

I guess they already have difficulty and sliders for the pc version though.

I also get pissed when Cutler looks right at a wide open Javon Walker running a streak down the field and he either throws it to Rod Smith, who is triple covered, or he scrambles for a 2 yard loss. Doesnt matter though, in the end I win 61-3.

I always simulate the games in Madden's franchise mode to see how well I built the team. Whenever I take over the control of a game, it's unrealistic. Sometimes, I can't help myself. I will play a game against the Raiders if my record is bad, so that I can improve AND beat a division rival at the same time.

I probably would like this game. I'm not interested in taking over control of my players during a game. I want the helpless feeling a coach may feel on the sidelines. I'm not concerned about any of the tedious off-the-field stuff. That sounds like fun to me. I AM concerned about player progressions and A.I. I hope the haters are exaggerating a little.

The game hardly gives a person enough time to make a trade during the draft and sometimes the trades don't go through even when the GM says done deal. Here's how bad the AI is...

I offered the Saints the Raiders 1st, 3rd and 5th for their first and I was denied. Of course I was trying to get Michael Huff. AJ Hawk is always the first pick... and I'm willing to bet that New Orleans always takes the draft pick of the team that you represent. There is no way that Reggie bush should drop out of the top 5.

The only reason that I am playing this game is because I was told by an EA employee that Madden 07 will have the capability to import the players attributes. In other words... If you have a player that sucks and you coach him up... His attributes will be improved when imported into 07

I have been playing it and it has been a blast. You can create your own plays, move players around. Not totally accurate. I picked up Michael Strahan, Algae Crumpler, Peerless Price, Troy Edwards and Dan Neil in Free Agency, I have traded with Buffalo to get their number 1. So far I love it. It is not for everyone, and I have not gotten into the a normal season yet, so perhaps it is too early to tell.
