Gotta sort thru it...I couldn't find the original Cutler video. Looked everywhere. Anyone have it still?
You have to sort thru it, but you can see how polished he allready is. He was threading the needle in the midrange game. I was looking for the combine thread where he puts it thru the needle deep with a defender hanging on.
Sure it's a highlight film and the D looks better than that pathetic OL. It's no wonder he had to throw short!
I wonder if that #48 got drafted.

Jay has that counter and the pitch and the misdirection mastered! I know it's Vandy highlights, but he was constantly under pressure. He was lofting the ball over LB's but got rid of the ball so fast he got by with it.
He can run the option, throw from either side, run it, and has loft with a good touch. Those reels didn't show his arm. I can't find that video anymore on YouTube. What floored me is he allready has the "TD toss" down pat. He also disguises well behind the line, can play both under center or in the gun.
I think by default I get Jay, but I don't think he's going to be homeless. And he's tough. I'm sorry, but he reminds me of Elway, but has better touch at this point. He didn't rifle many because he was lofting over LB's.

Thanks Mock. These are awesome and the timing couldn't be more perfect. Cutler's got a pretty fast release and I forgot how quick he is one the move.
I feel bad watching their running back knowing he's since passed away. What a tough deal. :(
The last two minutes of the Arkansas game will make this board cream their pants by noon today.:o :militia:

I see Brett Favre minus the rocket arm. Still, the arm is more than adequate--color me excited!

Anyone notice how he can throw the ball rolling left across the field?

Minus the rocket arm? He had the best arm in the draft. His arm strength is one of his defining attributes.

Great stuff on Cutler!
Here's the latest blurb on Lelie... not worth its own thread, but ESPN's John Clayton still thinks he's gone as we get close to camp.
Trades
Ashley Lelie
Wide Receiver
Denver Broncos
Will anyone rescue Ashley Lelie? He wants out of Denver, and Mike Shanahan has already replaced him with Javon Walker. The problem is the cost. No one is willing to give the Broncos a No. 1 pick and the teams interested in acquiring him don't have a top-level running back available to appease the Broncos. That's why Lelie's agent studied three-way deals.
Lelie will be moved before camp, but it might require Shanahan's lowering his demands to get this done. Lelie wants to be a No. 1 receiver and he's in the last year of his contract. But he's also the name being talked about most in trade talks, even though he's doing most of the talking. The second-most mentioned name is Saints reserve Michael Bennett. Bennett signed with the Saints to be a backup, but they ended up with Reggie Bush in the draft, so Bennett needs to move on. The Texans, Dolphins and several other teams are interested, but the talks have been slow.

ya, not very excited to hear bennett's name. the only trades that ive been legitimately enticed by have been #1 or high 2 draft picks and daniel graham

I heard quite a few people say that he's got just as strong an arm as Farve...Elway-like would be stretching it though.

Hell no to Bennett.
I don't think he saying Lelie for Bennett, but just that Bennett is another talked about name on the trading block.

Don't let Cutler throwing off his back foot fool you. Bennett is another Tatum Bell, only even more beat up. Pass on that.
The people harping about a RB don't have a clue. Muneer Moore and Ontario Smith clearly outplayed Bennet. We allready have a younger Bennett in Tater Tot. Bennett is almost on the street.

That RB for Vandy is impressive though. He's a sophmore last year and is simply tearing Tenn up.

sometimes i wonder if thomas jones is all that special......he has only had 1 real productive season and if he was so good why would the bears be willing trade him away with benson being kind of unknown in terms of production.... does anyone think he is that big (jones) of an improvement over taters?

I'm not sure if I'm ready to "wet (my) beak" on Cutler though.
Not that there's anything wrong with that...

"Something to wet my beak" is from the Godfather...the slob who tried to extort money from a young Vito. Vito capped him between the eyes. Al Pacino gets all the lover roles.

Excellent. Next time try to use a quote from Ridley Scott's Alien.
Something like "I guess it's back into the old freezerino."
Working that into a Cutler thread would be a real challenge.

Yes. For him to go as high as he did you expect him to handle pressure, make the throws over the middle, have a quick release. All standard stuff really that you expect out of the box from a 1st rounder.
But what's really important is his arm on those sideline passes and outs. Those are some of the hardest throws to make in football because the margin of error is very small and you're throwing a great distance but the ball has to be accurate and have great velocity.
Those throws are gold-dust because if you have a QB that can make those outs/sideline passes then it opens up the defense and spreads them out laterally so you split your WRs out wide to the sidelines. If the safeties commit outside then you've got the play-action option and our running game will tear it up with Bell's speed going outside and less bodies up the middle. It gives the running game so much more room to work with.
If the safeties stack up run then chances are you'll get a one on one matchup with a WR in open real estate.
This is a big reason why coaches go nuts over QBs with armstrength ( and why defenses are looking for rangy defenders ) because it adds a whole new dimension to the offense and makes matchups a lot easier.
Cutler made a few of those kind of throws and he was impressive. Let's hope that can transfer to his NFL game.

On those videos, Cutler only fired in one pass. In one, you couldn't see the ball. Usinally he was lofting it up over blitizers. IN the combine, I saw him throw a 40 yard pass like a dart. Don't you see the fearlessness? Jake has it, but Jay has the arm strength to pull it off.
I'm not going to jinx him at all. Jake gets another run. That cool...That's what makes the EPNShiat channel so funny. In actuallity, I think Denver has the best QB trio in the league. I'm still amazed how we got tons of picks and moved up. I'm still trying to figure that one out!
This kid will be special barring injury. When you saw him lofting balls, it was to go over blitzing! I can't find the video, but he can throw it 40 on a rope.
