Pretty amusing.

Chiefs | Hali not impressive; but he could still start
Sun, 25 Jun 2006 07:23:31 -0700

Elizabeth Merrill, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs head coach Herman Edwards was asked to discuss which rookies impressed him last week as the team's minicamp ended. Edwards said he wasn't going to mention DE Tamba Hali. "He is what he is," Edwards said. "What you saw in college, he's doing the same thing out here. He doesn't impress me; we expected that out of him." Hali was running with the No. 1 defense for much of the spring, but part of that was because DE Eric Hicks is recovering from shoulder surgery. Hali is expected to see a lot of playing time and may even start.

Chiefs | Roaf having second thoughts?
Sun, 25 Jun 2006 07:20:39 -0700

Elizabeth Merrill, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs OT Willie Roaf said this spring that the excitement at the end of 2005 compelled him to come back for another season. He hasn't been around in recent offseason workouts, prompting the rumor that maybe he'd had a change of heart. Head coach Herman Edwards is counting on him being back. "He's fine," Edwards said. "He's with his family, with his kids."

Yeah I saw something on Roaf, I guess he talked to a reporter in Louisiana or something about how his body isnt feeling the same as it has the last few years or whatever. Bob claims its not a big deal but we will see.

Tamba is a good kid, im sure this is a motivational tool, he has to work out some things in his game but I think he will eventually be a very good player.

I hate the Chiefs, but Edward's statements as to the progression of Tamba weren't exactly negative...a la...

"He is what he is," Edwards said. "What you saw in college, he's doing the same thing out here. He doesn't impress me; we expected that out of him."

Whatever. Unfortunately this kid is not going to bust.

This seems more like coaching issues to me. How did all of these guys suddenly get old or develop a case of the quits? He statement about Hali doesn't inspire confidence that he'll be a performer.

Chiefs are bleeding. The first team that punches them in the mouth and they are going to fold like a house of cards.

Read the actual article smart guy. Herm Edwards did not say that he wasn't impressed with Hali. He said that he already knew what Tamba Hali was capable of doing so nothing he did surprised him. However, he was surprised by the play of several other rookies and took note of there play. The dumb*** at KFFL who wrote that heading is an idiot who doesn't know how to read correctly.

What I care about is every week something comes of Chiefland where some is retiring, hurt, on their knees tired, getting yelled at by Gunther, or is not feeling the absolute peach.

Cincy or Denver?

Good call. If they can't get past Cinci then they are in real trouble. Denver will take them out and then they are down 0-2 at the bye. Sure. Beating eh 49ers is easy but the Cards drafted smart and are hungry for soft teams. Then they have Pittsburgh, Seattle...It could get ugly. They have to beat Denver early in the season.

We don't need any changes to the defensive line or LB corps when it comes to run defense. We were extremely solid last year.

We just need some more pass rush and hopefully we have it with Tamba Hali and a healthy Carlos Hall. Gunther is flapping his gums about Kendrell Bell but I'm certainly not going to pimp any of that garbage.

The Chargers are a great running football team.

However, the defense in Kansas City is so good that San Diego rushed for only 163 yards in two games against them last year!

Now compare that to the Denver Broncos, who allowed those same Chargers to rush for 170 yards in two games. It seems to me...that shockingly...somehow, someway...someone...somewhere....might think the Chiefs and Broncos have comparable run defenses.

I don't think the concern for the Cheeps here is defense, though Boob would like for you to think so. Hali will be a player or he won't. Who cares, he is not going to improve a poor/average overall defensive team. The story is if Willie Roaf doesn't show up for camp or worse if he shows up without the motivation to play at his previous all pro level. I think its an obvious sign of concern that the Cheeps took a flyer on Turley. Explains alot about their concerns about Roaf, I do beleive. Cheeps are at best 8-8 in 2006, you heard it here first.

I see Denver had an average defense.

Odd, I see that Denver gave up the 4th fewest points in the league

If you look at the wrong defensive stats maybe.
But we've all discussed this before; scoring defense is the only stat that really counts.
The rest is just fluff by comparison. ;D

Denver was tied with Pitt for 3rd place in the NFL. Hardly 'average.'

So we agree that KC had an average, rather then bad, defense?

Based on the scoring D, yes, average, very.

Cool, that's all we Chief fans are arguing. The career day defense is dead, thankyou.

This is a milestone in Chiefs-Broncos relations, but I am afraid you may soon be stoned or trampled to death by your fellow Maners.

Oh, I wouldn't get too confident about my opinion, Bob. According to one of your fellow Chief trolls, I'm a complete idiot. :wiggle:
