We have some company coming to town, and I know they used to go to the Golden Ox steakhouse on E Colfax. Anybody know of a comparable one?

I think the Chop House just to the south of Coor's Field serves some of the best steaks in Denver. I'm always running into Avalanche and Bronco players there as well.

wow - Haven't heard of the Golden Ox for years. Lots of great steak houses, but comparable ??? Sullivans and Chophouse are a little more upscale. Bastiens or Emerils might be the closest I can think of to the Golden Ox.

Although it is a chain, it's hard to be Arnie Morton's.

The Buckhorn Exchange. The best steakhouse in the world.

Bennett's in Aurora is pretty good, more of a BBQ atmosphere but awesome steaks

I have a bunch of BBQ'd meat from my fire last week....

Del Friscos is probably the best in town.

lots of opinions here!!

i havent been to elways, but for name alone it might be interesting for out of towners (especially if theyre bronco fans).

personally, i think brooks is hands down the best.
phenominal steaks, great service, great cigar rooms with plush furniture down in the wine cellar, and lobster that melts in your mouth.
fantastic restaurant that isnt a chain.

if youre going chain, ruths chris is actually my fave, but your family can get chain anywhere right?

The truth is, Steakhouses are kinda not cool. I like places that get creative with their entree's.... the best spots to hit in Denver are Beau Joes (but you have to go to the on in Idaho Springs).... Wynkoop... The Rock Bottom Brewery... yeah

I've basically been to all of them, and I think, if money is no object, Del Frisco's is the clear-cut winner. Capitol Grill is close, and of course it is more fun to go to Larimer street than to the Tech Center. I think Morton's has really fallen off recently. Sullivan's is right up there, too, and is also down town, and very slightly cheaper than the ultra expensive ones.

Edit: also, Elway's is very good. Not the very best quality steaks, but very good sides, including some of the best fries in town, and some pretty good deserts (try the Ding Dong, which is almost identical to the original).

The Aurora Summit is pretty tasty.
My favorite is Brooks Steak House.
I've been meaning to try Elway's - good to read some feedback on it.
