Steelers WR Holmes faces domestic violence chargeAssociated Press
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes was charged with domestic violence early Monday, police said.
Holmes was arrested at an apartment just after midnight and taken to Franklin County Jail, Sgt. Loucious Hollis said. He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning.
Hollis confirmed the domestic violence charge against Holmes, but declined to say who made the complaint or provide details of the allegation.
A message left for the Steelers by The Associated Press was not immediately returned.
It was Holmes' second arrest since being selected in the first round of the NFL draft. He was arrested in South Beach, Fla., for disorderly conduct during a Memorial Day weekend crackdown by local authorities.
Steelers coach Bill Cowher criticized Holmes the following week, but said he wouldn't hold the incident against the former Ohio State receiver.
"Whatever he did wrong, I don't think he handled it properly," Cowher said then. "I think he'll learn from it and understand the scrutiny he's under. We have not talked face to face about it. I don't have any long-term concerns

Wow, that's hard to hear about. I never heard of this kid doing anything wrong while back in school, seemed to have a level head and be real humble. Maybe it's the money going to his head, still it's no excuse if he was roughhousing a woman.

I was pulling for that guy also after what he did to my Irish. It just goes to show, you never know. Does anyone know what his background was? lower or middle class family? I think the shock of that first paycheck ruins alot of athletes especially those that never had it before.

Well also we need to put this in perspective once the whole story is known, I always wanted Brandon Marshall to come here, I thought he fit our style of play better but I would have been happy for any Buckeye to come to Denver (Yay Tyler Everett!) But the first arrest was for impeading traffic, not really a "Tony Montana" crime and I would bet that at least half of our current team has had a domestic rap on them some time in their career, I hope it was just a screaming match with someone, but as I said before If he was beating on a girl that just isn't right. Cowher should put this in prespective too, his QB was almost street pizza, which loss to the team do you think is more acceptable? I too think that the large checks go to a kids head really fast, I think they need to bring that rookie cap down alot more, maybe have brackets for each postion, I already know they use a form of that when doing deals with picks in the later rounds, but doing it for everyone would eliminate some hold outs and all the other $$ issues that spring up after the first pick is taken.

Some people say Holmes had a big head before he got the big money.

I certainly wasn't clamoring for the Buckeye. I'm perfectly happy with Walker and Brandon Marshall. Freshly minted millionaire in South Beach and he manages to start pulling stunts before he even signs his contract.

It's all who ya talk to, some of the Buckeye nation have said that as well, others have said that he was pretty mellow.
It was a smart choice for him to come out early though, even though he was the 1 WR he was always going to be second banana to Teddy Ginn, the 06 class was pretty weak in WR talent so he knew he would have a better chance being the 1st or 2nd WR taken where as next year he would have been a 2nd rounder more than likely.

This can't be Bill Cowher's favorite off-season.

on the yahoo sports section it mentioned that at the age of 22 he already had 3 kids. Guess he has Shawn Kemp as mentor.

I'm sure he'll get 80 or so hours of community service where all he'll have to do is sign autographs and maybe a year probation. Chris Henry on the other hand is in deep poo-poo but then again I thought Sean Taylor was too.

lol...22 with three kids. Someone teach that kid to pull out!
But really, you'd think he would try extra to stay out of trouble considering the first incident.
