Some good stuff. It really showed how filthy Boston was willing to play to try and hang with the mid 80s Laker Dynasty, which was the best team ever by far.

I'm amazed they didn't show some of the Mahorn/Laimbeer/Rodman thuggery from Chuck Daly's Piston teams.

I also have to deduct points because they didn't have Maurice Lucas V Darryl Dawkins V The back of Bobby Jones head.

None of Bryant getting his jaw jacked? It's happened a few times. Bryant is always the one absorbing the blow.

they kept showing my boy Bruce Bowen(he went to my HS and our current AD was his coach). i read in SI that tons of players get really frustrated by his defense and that is obviously evidenced by the amount of times he was attacked. the pacers sure were on there a lot and larry bird. i wasnt really alive in the larry bird era but ive never heard of him as a fighter but it doesnt surprise me in the laker-celts rivalry

The Celtics knew they couldn't run with those Laker teams, so they tried to drag them into back alley brawls. Sometimes, like in 1984, it worked.

Unfortunately, the NBA allowed Chuck Daly to amplify this kind of game ten fold. His philosophy was the refs won't blow the whistle on every time down the court, so let's foul on every play and eventually we'll win an ugly war of attrition.

George Thompson had done the same thing to the college game a few years earlier - and dismissed all criticism with cries of racism - so Daly was following an established precedent in ultra physical play.

Those two assholes ruined a beautiful sport.

Of course the X man made a couple of appearances towards the end of the video.

Slap...who did George Thompson coach. Do you mean John Thompson...from Georgetown? His cries of racism still resonate...

Whatever happened with the NBA dress code that caused such a big stink with the players?

Yeah, slip of the tongue.
