Ravens | Boller OK with McNair addition
Wed, 7 Jun 2006 17:54:30 -0700

Mike Duffy, of BaltimoreRavens.com, reports Baltimore Ravens QB Kyle Boller looks at the addition of QB Steve McNair positively, regardless of who eventually takes the helm of the offense. "I look at it optimistically," explained Boller. "I would use Steve as much as I can to take things from him. He's experienced a lot. He's one of those guys that has been in the league for 11 years, now it would be silly for me not to use him to my advantage. If I was selfish and say? Oh they are bringing him in; they have no confidence in me.' That's my fault. I'm going to use this as a stepping stone to try and get where I need to be in this league," he continued, saying that he could learn some valuable lessons from the steely veteran. "It's something I haven't been able to do, I haven't been able to learn from a veteran. So if he were to come I would hopefully try to pick his brain, and we'll get out there and hopefully win a lot of games together."

Chiefs | Team looking for backup running back
Wed, 7 Jun 2006 06:50:46 -0700
<A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/143">Adam Teicher, of the Kansas City Star (http://www.kffl.com/link/142), reports the Kansas City Chiefs (http://www.kffl.com/team/21/nfl) are unsure if RB Priest Holmes (http://www.kffl.com/player/993/nfl) (neck) will be with the team for the 2006 season. Head coach Herman Edwards (http://www.kffl.com/player/1976/nfl) said the team will not wait for Holmes indefinitely and added, "You're always looking to upgrade, and that's what's good about the time between now and opening day. There will be some guys on certain teams that people are willing to let go. We'll evaluate the guys we have here and our scouts will evaluate guys on other teams, especially if Priest doesn't come back." Edwards would like to run the ball 35 times a game and doesn't plan to have RB Larry Johnson (http://www.kffl.com/player/5896/nfl) carry all of that load. Of the current running backs on the team, Johnson is the biggest at 230 pounds. The rest are lighter, finesse runners with Holmes at 213 pounds, RB Dee Brown (http://www.kffl.com/player/275/nfl) at 210 pounds and RB Quentin Griffin (http://www.kffl.com/player/6190/nfl) at 195 pounds. Edwards said, "We'll go to a change of pace. We'll do a little something different with those guys than we'll do with LJ. We're going to run the ball 500 times. We can't expect him to run it 500 times."

Broncos | Hixon could add competition at return jobs
Wed, 7 Jun 2006 06:43:31 -0700
Mike Klis, of the <A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/184">Denver Post, reports Denver Broncos (http://www.kffl.com/team/15/nfl) WR Domenik Hixon (http://www.kffl.com/player/14195/nfl) could add competition for the roles of kickoff returner and punt returner. CB Darrent Williams (http://www.kffl.com/player/11399/nfl) is at the top of the list on the kickoff and punt return teams, with WR Charlie Adams (http://www.kffl.com/player/6541/nfl) behind him. During the 2005 season, Williams started at cornerback and was the team's top returner. After he essentially missed the final four games of the regular season last year, there was concern whether the dual roles were too much for him. Williams said, "I haven't heard any of that coming from the coaches. It was a freak accident. A dude grabbed my leg and I tried to spin out of a tackle. So I don't think it was my body wearing down. It was just, injuries happen in this game. Return is something I like to do."

I'm fine with trying Hixon at KR or possibly even PR. DWill has enough on his plate just like Champ. He's going to be way behind at WR with that foot but KR is kinda instinctive.

I'm baffled about DT depth but maybe we pick up a late cut.

So McNair is on his way to B'more. Hope he sends Boller to the bench where he belongs.

Brian Billick couldn't develop a QB to save his azz.
