I was interested in him last year, but we never really heard from him. Now he may have been hurt all that time. We'll see...he has good size.

"I am (on the first team)," Jackson said. "It was me and Stephen Alexander out there, and Stephen's been a little bit nicked up, so I've been out there on the first field and it's been pretty good."
In NFL Europe Nate Jackson played a few games but then was sidelined due to injury. In '04 Nate Jackson caught some key third down conversions for us. He made some decent plays then got injured. At the start of the '05 training camp I thought he looked pretty good and could surprise. Then he was injured at the start of camp. Shanahan has felt good enough to keep the guy around despite his injury history. I would suspect that his first team status is partially due to the position not being very deep. I have questions about his durability.
A torn right anterior cruciate ligament forced Trusty to injured reserve Tuesday, ending his 2006 campaign over three months before the regular-season opener ... The Broncos return to team-camp work Wednesday morning; the team's 14 organized team activites for the offseason conclude Thursday. Man, our tight-ends are dropping like flies.

Agree with your assessment totally Kaylore, I've been a Nate Jackson homer for some time but I was just about ready to give up on him this year - after all, injuries or no, you have to produce eventually.
However, I may not give up on him just yet, because it seems like shanny sees something in him too - otherwise he wouldn't have kept him around (although lack of position depth is also a factor).
Sometimes a string of injuries is just bad luck, other times it is evidence of a lack of durability - Courtney Brown had a healthy season for us last year despite his previous years being injury-riddled.
This year is definitely make-or-break for Nate: He has to stay healthy and show us what he's got. Personally, I think that of he does he might just surprise a few people - he has the potential to be a real clutch performer for us.

Its also worth mentioning that although our 3rd-down offense improved overall last year, that was primarily due to improvement in 3rd and short situations - we were still weak on 3rd and long, so this offseason we are still looking for big posession-type targets to help us keep those drives alive.

chad mustard baby! i think if schef can get his blocking together or somebody can, we will be fine. we can have carswell be our primary blocking TE and the short distance/red zone TE. then we have schef/nate/stephen alexander as our receiving TEs. we just need one of those three to block decently. alexander has been alright with that but nothing spectacular. we remain to see on schef outta college and nate just learning to block inside
this is all assuming no trades go down cuz i think daniel graham would be a great acquistion here

I could be totally wrong but I don't see him as our starting TE when the season opens.

id say that depends on schefs progress. from the sound of it, he has stephen alexander beat. the question will be whether scheffler improves drastically and picks up the playbook fast enough

Carswell is a tackle, he won't be moved back to TE.

well he can be the third tackle atleast in jumbo packages. where do we need more depth...tackel or TE.point is, he can always be the second TE in two TE packages, whether he is number 80s or not

You can't play TE in this offense if you are fragile. Just ask Putzier about Jake's ball placement.

you get injured every yr and you're a daisy. Just because you wear a Broncos uniform doesn't make me overlook stuff like that. Nate Jackson isn't and will never be a factor in the NFL.

I guess not. But like most fans I am very fickle and if he plays well then I will buy his jersey. If not then he's a daisy and can go sell used cars.

He always seems to catch the ball when it comes his way. That's got to account for something.
