What a pompus A-hole!!

SoCals Link:http://profootballweekly.com/PFW/Features/They+Said+It/2006/said053106.htm

Former Washington Redskins and Toronto Argonauts QB Joe Theismann, telling Toronto radio station The Fan 590 (and with the quote running in The Globe and Mail) that the Argos shouldn’t have signed former Dolphins RB Ricky Williams: “This is a feeble excuse for the Toronto Argonauts to sell tickets, and I'm embarrassed to have worn the 'A' on my helmet. It shows classlessness in the organization.”

More Theismann on Williams, a four-time violator of the NFL’s substance-abuse policy: “He has insulted professional football players. He has insulted the game of professional football. He has been suspended by the National Football League; he doesn't want to play. He's going to a place where his value will be limited.”

Williams, quoted in the Toronto Star about Theismann’s remarks: “Every time (Theismann) says something, here's what happens: He says a remark about me that's offensive and then when he has to do one of our games, he comes and apologizes and he says, ‘I'm sorry.’ ”

Argonauts head coach Mike “Pinball” Clemons, giving the Star his take on Theismann’s remarks: “You don't have to agree with someone to respect them. I respect (Theismann) as a person. (But) I'm very comfortable with my decision. I'm very proud as a Toronto Argonaut. And I don't care if Joe Theismann is standing here or the prime minister … I'm not ashamed.”

Fans got a rise out of a vignette in the second that made fun of former Toronto quarterback Joe Theismann's condemnation of the club's signing Williams.

On Tuesday, Theismann called the move a "feeble excuse" by Toronto to sell tickets, lashed out at Williams and said he was ashamed to have worn the club's old A emblem on his helmet.

During a stoppage in play Friday, a video ran on the Jumbotron showing Theismann wearing a helmet with the 'A' emblem. Suddenly, a giant pencil appeared and rubbed out the 'A,' after which the worlds "Happy Now Joe" appeared, again drawing solid applause.

I can see where he is coming from, but he's over stating it by a lot. He can make his point without coming off looking like an ass.

Yes these owners do care about selling tickets and making money but Williams is also a very good RB that helps win games. So I guess Theisman is perfect and has never done anything wrong.

Don't trust anyone who changes the pronunciation of his name to match an award he wants to win.

Theeeisman is a tool.

Actually, I don't think he can make any point without looking like an ass, probably because he simply is an ass.

I think I could probably get on without becoming iritated by JT's comments if he had played like an Elway or Marino. But he didn't. If he talks like an ass, he should at least have had the skills to back it up. Maybe that's why Marino doesn't bother me too much.

No doubt. I had a freaky nightmare when I still played soccer where I got tackled (slide tackle...not football tackle) and my leg just blew up. Ughhh...

i had a nightmare in reality when i got hit by our 4 hardest hitters on the first day of pads. the QB lofted the pass up right in the middle. needless to say, he was a backup QB and thankfully wasnt QB for long. scrubs

Willhite was running for a TD and Joey Browner from the Vikings horse collored him and his foot got stuck in that dome turf. His foot was on backwards flopping around in the air like a whip. It was the last play of his career.
