ESPN insiders - I think it that Fatboy Pastrami- reported that the succession plan was for the team to go into a trust or to his family. The old SF 49ers ownership is interested in buying into the Raiders and moving them to LA

That would suck, the old 49ers management was pretty good. They only really started sucking when those penny pinchers took over.

Raiders | Policy claims he has virtually no chance to buy team
Sun, 28 May 2006 09:43:45 -0700
Steve Pajak, of the Sacramento Bee, reports former <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/32/nfl">San Francisco 49ers president Carmen Policy concedes there is virtually no chance he and
former 49ers (http://www.kffl.com/team/32/nfl) owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr. would ever be in a position to buy the Oakland Raiders (http://www.kffl.com/team/28/nfl). In an interview with KPIX in San Francisco, Policy said DeBartolo would like to return to the NFL (http://www.kffl.com/team/77/nfl) as a minority owner of a team someday.
From KFFL
You do have to give Davis credit for the things he has done in the past for the AFL and NFL.
Now if the rumors are true then who is here is willing to chip in some money to buy out the competition?

The Raiders really aren't an old team anymore. Go ahead and bash the talent if you want to but be accurate in what you say. Go check the age of the Raiders projected starting 22 and then come tell me they are an old team. Off the top of my head the Whole secondary is very young, Washington/Ashmugha/Schiegert/Huff? The oline is young Gallery/Grove/Walker with Simms being the older guy. Not sure about other gaurd spot. They have some young wr in Curry/Gabrial/Porter with Moss being older. The TE is young. Lamont Jordan isnt old. All in all I don't see the Raiders as an old team. I see them as a young team that is raw and needs to develop. They are also a team desperate for a qb to take control and lead them. It often doesn't matter if you are a great talent at qb, but you have to be a leader and since Gannon got injured Raiders haven't had that.

Pull a "Major League". You mean pull a "Georgia Frontiere". The screen play writer of Major League based that character on Georgia. The character in the movie was an ex-toppless dancer who was trying to drive the team into the ground so she could move them to her home city. Georgia is an ex-toppless dancer who drove the team into the ground so she could move the team to her home city of St. Louis. I don't think the owner in the movie killed her husband. Georgia did.

Frontiere moves franchise to St. Louis after 49 years in Southern California. NFL owners approve team's relocation effort with 23-6-1 vote, April 12, bringing NFL football back to St. Louis after eight- year absence. League owners originally block proposed move with 3-21-6 vote, March 15. Rams hire Steve Ortmayer as Vice President for Football Operations and former Oregon coach Rich Brooks as 19th head coach in team history. Rams make Florida DE Kevin Carter their number one draft choice. Rams greet St. Louis with 4-0 record to start season. Isaac Bruce produces record-breaking year with 119 receptions for 1,781 yards. Jackie Slater becomes first player in NFL history to play 20 seasons with one team by starting against Carolina and sets record for offensive linemen with 258 games played.

I remember that, I even witnessed it and although he wasn't the primary person responsible for it all but a part, I give Al props for that. But years upon years of moronic moves and deluded play does not promote props for the person responsible. You can't live on your past laurels. 3-4 years? I wouldn't be supprised to see Davis sell a portion of the Raiders as a strategy for dealing with the inheritance tax (simillar to how Mara sold a portion of the Giants.) I would imagine that the team would remain in his family while Shell or some other former Raider (Gannon) assumes a GM role. His kid supposedly has a huge mancrush on Gannon and wanted to bring him into the fold as HC.
I would also guess that Amy Trask would remain as Chief Legal Counsel and run the business/financial/legal side of things.
This is all just a guess.

If nothing short of a Super Bowl victory is "good", then using that logic, the Chiefs haven't been any good since Gene Rayburn was in prime time with that funny little microphone.

Tell that to the 1994 San Diego Chargers. Or the 1993 Buffalo Bills.
At least they got there by winning playoff games, something your team hasn't done for 10 years.
Let me ask you this Bob, would you rather make it to the Super Bowl and lose or not make the playoffs at all?

The only success you had was due to chucky.
Who cares why?
The Raiders have historically been the more successful franchise than the Chiefs.
Let's see how well the Chief's fare if they face similar circumstances. (Carreer ending injury to Green, retirement of 4/5ths of the OL, etc.
Shell had a pretty good run here too. Hell, his playoff win is only one year removed from the Chief's last.

Chiefs-Raiders games are always close. I don't see how KC got all that worse or the Raiders got any better. If you say Aaron Brooks you lose a testicle.
You guys gonna sweep the division this year?

When WAS the last time they won a playoff game....oh in 1993. Carl Peterson has been the GM of the chefs since 1989 and they have won a whopping 3 playoff games since he has been GM. Why on earth is he still the GM? LOL Stupid Chefs

Was it 93? If so then it means Art Shell's managed to win a playoff game more recently then the Chiefs. I thought it was 95.

Do you blame him? After all the hype of 13 win seasons where they got nutkicked at HOME in the playoffs, it's no wonder that the chef fans prefer regular season glory.
They would rather settle for a 10-11 win season and spend the offseason playing with their mint condition star wars figures (all while murmering, "there's no such thing as playoffs") than make a run in the postseason because that word, "playoffs" still makes them quiver and cringe from their last beatings.
