I find it interesting, though I understand to a point, that the president stepped in. The bottom of the page discusses a possible back lash based by voters may occur. Well, to be honest, if the media handles this incorrectly, yeah there will be, and possibly a necessary backlash I might add. I'm for cleaning house on both sides of the fence, the guilty parties need to leave office whatever their affiliation...dman

Dman,

In my news thread i have some stories on Hasslet being fingered by abramoff - and then this happens. IMO no public official should be able to claim that FBI/Police/ETC have no jurisdiction in there office. That's precedent for being above the law.

I don't think this will be the last we hear of this. I'm predicting it will be brought up again sometime in mid-to-late November...AFTER the elections...:flush:

It's time for a political revolution in this country. We need to be back to our roots of government by the people, for the people and of the people rather than government by the (insert Political party), for the (insert political party) and of the (insert political party).

My wife just called me on the phone. Apparently there is alot of coverage on this particular subject. In addition, numerous americans are balking on the entire issue, in that, the law is good enough for us to follow, but not the congressman in DC etc..etc.. the backlash may have already started. I'm for cleaning house, both sides of the aisle right now....and I do mean both sides.

*ANY congressman or senator who feels they should not be searched (given they were properly subpeoned..sp..) can hit the road as far as I'm concerned. If all of them feel that way? Can them all. I gotta follow the rules, SO DO ALL OF THEM, each and every one no matter what the affiliation.

Tube stow and LAUNCH the bunch of them....

There could be worse options than going down the ballot and just checking the box for whichever candidate isn't the incumbent....

I'll tell ya, IF they intend on making this a sticking point, get the list published and TRUST ME, I'll be checking each block and ENSURING the incumbent is not voted for on my ticket. We cannot let the bastards get away with this..dman

No citizen can be "above the law"... even if they are in a position of authority. Burying the problem isn't the same thing as solving it...

The sheer arrogance of the way this whole thing is being handled is outrageous, nonetheless... toss 'em all out, I say. :P

Is anyone surprised that despite the claims that the Dems and GOP are at each other throats, when it comes to revealing just how truly corrupt and scummy both parties are, they circle the wagons and "reveal" unity?

Not worried about the gov't? Just congress dman? They are part of the gov't. The executive branch operates in the same manner. make it classified, seal the docs and brush it under the rug. They all do this ****.

No worries there. They are term limited at the next election. We have a chance to make a difference this year in congress.

That's a definite this year but I don't believe the current administration should walk away scot free. They are not above the law anymore than anyone else. They work for us......well that's the premise to an election.

Bingo.

If these shysters are given a pass, then they'll just be back doing the same criminal sh*t the next time the GOP steals power.

One of the Clinton administration's biggest f_ckups, as the last six years have shown, was letting Poppy Bush and Wienberger and the rest of the Iran-Contra crooks off the hook. These scumbags didn't waste any time picking up where they left off after Dim Son appointed them to various positions within his administration.

Really? I believe it was Clinton who waged an illegal war in Kosovo, ordered Ron Brown and Vince Foster killed, tried to supress religeous freedom when Davidian branch members were burned alive and then sold US technology to the Chicoms for campaign financing. As we can see Clinton had a lot of fu**ups!!

Well, Im now convinced that we currently live in is called an oligarchy. And it all stems back to the dealings of William Jefferson, and Hastert's staunch defense of it. I like Hastert, but I really really really hope he gets his if guilty (which Im 99% sure he is). These people think that theyre above the law and it sickens me.

The people are the problem.. we put these people in office.

Until the American people take a look in the mirror, we'll get no better.

Until we decide that regulating 'values' is at odds with freedom we'll have politicians who only exist to coerce and manipulate.

Until we decide that our own special interest isn't bigger than our republic we'll only have politicians capable of looking out for their own special interests.

Until we decide to once again value (instead of deride) our intellectuals we'll have politicians at odds with truth.

And most of all, until we decide that best government is the limited government (as envisioned by our forefathers) we'll have politicians obsessed with extending government into every facet of our lives.

Y'know, I don't think you could prove a single one of the allegations in this post. If any of those charges were credible, I daresay Ken Starr's $70 million fishing expedition would have come up with more than a tawdry extramarital affair to pin on him.

Yes, until we start thinking for ourselves and stop taking what they dish out to us at face value and believing they wouldn't lie, we are in big trouble and the biggest problem.

Right on. And you can prove that Bush ordered over 2500 of our troops killed with lies.
