Anyone see this? Barrett clocked Pierzynski after a collision at the plate and mayhem ensued.

Jay Cutler could take them both with one arm tied behind his back.

I wouldn't have expected Michael Barrett to throw a sucker punch like that.

Barrett was running his mouth last week against the Madres. Dave Roberts stole third in a 5-2 game, and after he scored Barrett had some things to say. Both benches emptied, but nothing happened.

He looks like he's a bit of a loose cannon.

Either Pierzynski's got a pretty good chin or Barrett is what would be called, in hockey circles, a pillow puncher.

Yea, that's pretty weak. He didn't even have much of a wind-up...it was more of a weak jab. Pierzynski was still on his feet too...

Pierzynski ran away like a punk A$$ beatch. I am glad a photo is on the mane so i can print it out and send it to Barrett with $10 to his fine fund account. I hate Pierzynski and that was before he started the down hill slide for the Angels last year. What player actually likes him? He probably eats alone at every hotel stay on the road. JERK OFF!

9. A. J. Pierzynski

Google the phrase clubhouse cancer and the first two results will be stories about Chicago White Sox catcher A. J. Pierzynski. Teammates and members of the media use those words and others—unprofessional, immature, arrogant, aloof—to describe him. His baseball misdemeanors are legion: chirping at the opposition, bitterly contesting balls and strikes (very stupid for a catcher, who must win goodwill for his pitcher), and venting his frustrations on opposing first basemen. “He doesn’t have a lot of baseball etiquette,” says one ex-teammate. “He’ll deliberately step on your foot at first base, then say, ‘Man, I didn’t mean to do that!’ ”

The most telling of the many, many (seriously, you wouldn’t believe how willing people were to talk about this guy) Pierzynski anecdotes we heard took place during spring training in 2004. Pierzynski, crouched behind the plate, took a pitch to the groin. Rushing to his aid, trainer Stan Conte asked him how he felt. “Like this!” Pierzynski grunted, then savagely kneed Conte in the balls.

“You just want to choke him,” says the ex-teammate, who has also played against him. “You want your pitcher to hit him in the head.”

A viable baseball soap opera story, funny stuff.

Geez, after watching the clips multiple times on ESPN news ( in between the media fellatio of Barry ), I felt sorry for the guy. Looked like a sucker punch to me, but after reading that....sounds like he's a first class jackass.

I did actually google "clubhouse cancer" to see if what they said was true. Well, the very first link that popped up was about AJ Pierzynski. Ouch.

It's kind of like the time that Tie Domi suckerpunched Ulf Samuelsson. It was a cheap shot, but Samuelsson was such a douchebag that no one minded and many actually applauded Domi for doing it.
