I think Jake's got a good heart and is a homer for the Broncos. I can relate to the guy, because I thought that Griese would be able to do just enough to get it done if the Broncos could protect the guy. Jake and I both share similar views on the Griese situation, so I know where he's coming from.
I think Plummer has fooled people in the same way that Griese fooled me. Certainly, his mobility is a refreshing change from Griese's concrete boots, and his never say die attitude is incredibly endearing. I think the combination of the two in the wake of the Griese situation make it easy to overlook his frantic nature, not to mention just how limited our offense has become because of compensations that Shanahan has had to make to combat it.

Alec is disappointed in your condescending duplicity about Plummer. He called you stupid because no matter how it's pointed out you will never see it. Part of your blindness is the Tacoettes who honor your every flatulence. It's the Bob like apirations who live their lives on their knees. It's cowards whose only function in life is kissing azz. Alec is wrong to make your issue his issue. It's probably because he really thinks you are friend of his. Strange how these things really work.
It is not man love to be loyal. In fact it used to be called honorable. It's a shame that people forget this. It's a shame that truth and fact get confused. Spin is now reality and no matter how I point to the spin part we are, as a culture, unwilling to give that up.
Plummer hasn't fooled anybody. Shanahan has. This is why HE had to draft Cutler. It had nothing to do with Plummer. Shanahan had a chance to amend his career and he took it. Jake is just Jake. The fact people dump on Plummer is insulting and stupid. Jake is playing lights out the best football he's going to play and does it with a little more than "endearing" attitude. The season hasn't even started and already he's in the Griese done pile.
We have a whole thead dedicated to who is the most stupid for supporting their team. Doesn't anybody catch the brutal irony? When did standing by your team win or lose become a bad thing? Why is it such a horrible thing to want the best for your team? Why is it suddenly the height of brilliance to have a brutally sardonic and cynical view on life?
My apologies. This is not intended as a personal attack at anyone. Maybe I just got an over exposure to stupidity. Pardon my bad reaction. There are a lot of very smart people on this board who say some incredibly stupid things.

When did standing by your team win or lose become a bad thing?
I think your barking up the wrong tree here. When a fan starts talking about not attending games than he is not a true fan that is just fact. I dont care how many people spin away about how O4L is a great guy blah blah blah. His rant about drafting Cutler was just so out of line and insane i cant even begin to go into all again. But i would have been fine with it if he hadnt starting saying he was going to sell his tickets and not attend games. Sure, he changes his tune now but only after everyone called him on it. And lets keep in mind that his rant wasnt about the Broncos as a whole but for Plummer as a player. He somehow thought that drafting Cutler was insulting Jake. Which i start to wonder if O4L is worried that Cutler might outplay Plummer and thats his reason for getting upset.
Everyone has favorite players, Steve Atwater and John Elway are my favorites of all time for obvious reasons. But i cant put Plummer in the same category as those two so i was a bit mystified as too why O4L got so crazy about the draft. How anyone can see drafting Cutler as a bad thing is beyond me. Denver had a chance to get a high quality player and took it, ANY team would have done the same thing regardless of immediate needs. When your a team that is in the hunt of the playoffs every year you dont squander away opportunities like that. And by the way, Plummer isnt the only player to get criticised for poor play.
Some of you guys get all bothered when something negative gets said about Plummer. Even when its not the only thing that is being said. Ive said it time and time again that our defense let us down in the Championship game but it was Jake's turnovers that really hurt in the long run. Especially in the second half when we still had a shot to get back in it. You say there are smart people who say stupid things? Well, your right on that as your above statement falls in that category.

I think Homers are fabulous. The notion of seeing and expounding on every flaw or mistake made by the good guys has some how become representative of having superior knowledge and therefore making one a better fan. That's laughable to me. All it means is we've chosen to glorify bitchin and moanin over cheering and groanin.
Just because you choose to overlook Jake's left handed hucks from his own endzone doesn't mean you didn't see him do it.
God love the HOMERS.

Wrong. Being a homer is not seeing the paint for the color it is. Why do you think they call it blind homerism? Being critical has nothing to to with your fan status, like that matters anyway. It's allways amusing to me that people give ranks to fandom. Who cares, it doesn't matter honestly.

I don't think it is so much "today's fan" as it that we are in an age of hyper media and communication. Back in the 80's how many channels covered the Broncos? How many magazines gave you indepth Bronco's coverage? Where could you go to gripe about a down season, a coaching decision, or draft pick? The options back then were light.
Nowadays, you have FoxSports RM, CNNSI, Espn, Espn2, EspnNews, EspntheMagazine and more importantly, the internet to give you every single iota of information you ever wanted about the Broncos --three times a day! The internet changed everything. Everybody's voice, whether it was homer or not, will be heard. Devoted fans from Australia to Zaire are able to express their feelings about the team.
Had the internet been available like it is today back in the 70's and 80's, you wouldn't fondly remember those days like you do now. Also, back then, sports was not as big of a business (especially football) as it today. Nobody knew anything about luxury boxes or how much a player made because it wasn't a big deal. The game was more honorable to the fans back then. It wasn't about the money, or the shoe deal, or a television commercial -- it was about football. Atleast to the fans it was because nobody knew any better back then due to the lack of media coverage.

Man, you are off you're rocker. This isn't a generational thing, it's a "what Bronco fans think will be best for the Broncos team" thing. I like Plummer a lot, and I have a lot of confidence in him. I also don't have a problem with the Cutler pick because I think he's got more upside than Plummer and has a chance to be the Broncos star QB for the next 10-15 years.
I've run into a lot of people over the years that come off as more of a fan of 1 particular player as opposed to a fan of the team itself. In your draft day meltdown, you mentioned that you were going to start selling your tickets because of the Cutler pick and how it was a slap in the face to Jake. Jake is not the Broncos, the Broncos are the Broncos. Players come and go all the time. Many people on this board, people of ALL AGE GROUPS, think that the Cutler pick was a brilliant move by Shanahan, because:
1) Shanahan had a rare chance to land a rare talent that could be our QBOTF for many, many years to come.
2) The Broncos picked up a first round talent in the 2nd round (Javon Walker) who will help the team immediately.
3) Because Shanahan believes he ALREADY HAS a SB caliber team regardless of the draft.
Right now, you're coming off as some guy who tells his grandchildren that "it ain't like it used to be" and "I used to walk 20 miles to school every day in a driving snowstorm". Get over yourself and your holier than thou attitude as a "better" Bronco fan.

It's all pretty simple. This isn't even close to the same situation that Elway fell into as a rookie. Denver was coming off a pretty bad season but in Elways second year, we went 13-3 only to lose to those pesky Steelers after leading 17-10 going into the 4th quarter.
This is Jakes job to lose and I don't see anything than a serious injury that might create a Bradyesque situation. It certainly had to be harder to dump a Bledsoe than a Plummer IMO. Both Big Ben and Cutler were 11's..maybe Ben was a #10, but again, Pitt was coming off a poor season. Name who he replaced...I honestly don't remember.
IMO, next training camp will simply be an open competition. If we take a step back this year, obviously it increases the chances a move might be made sooner.

im a homer for my family, my harley, golf, the broncos, the grateful dead, etc.
the list is long.
these kids today dont have passion for anything. they pretend that they do, but they dont.
the worse thing is when adults get caught up in it and start using their idiotic terms.
"emo", "homer", etc.
how about "lazy"?
or "unmotivated"?
theyre just not capable of the passion it takes to emotionally invest in things they cant control.
I'm closer to your age than you think and it has nothing to do with the times changing as you are a full fledge Jake Plummer homer. Let me get then point out that I'm a big Plummer fan, have been since he was at ASU and was glad he came to the broncos. But I don't have my head so far up his arse that I can see some skills he struggles at. You are always making excuses when he has a bad game or makes a bad throw. Sorry where have you ever given him criticism. Plummer is the most disrespected QB in the game and Cutler (I've never said throw the season away and start a rookie) will not play over him this year, but you can see a talent difference between the two. I enjoy watching you melt down because you are too thin skinned to take any crap just like you can never turn your head to defend Plummer as we have all heard the PROBOWL QB, most wins other than whoever, 2-1 INT ratio argument over and over. To call me lazy and unmotivated is funny because you have no idea about me, what I do, or my age. Anyone that knows me if they had one word to describe me it would be broncos. But I don't make excuses for them or put blame on one player for a loss. Keep Homering away for Jake and I'll root and support him but you can see where the future will is going for you and thats a meltdown when shanny says the QB position is open with means Cutler will start. I'm hoping the team around Cutler crumbles. The Broncos will be plunged into mediocrity for a decade and O4L will spend the next ten years bitching about how Cutler can't even win a single playoff game, something that the great Jake Plummer was able to do easily during his Broncos career.

Zach you are as big a queen as Boob. You want to play whack a troll or do you want to post on topic? If you want me to make time in my schedule I can pencil you in. I don't want you to feel neglected.
When the Chiefs are in flames I'll be roasting weenees kicking back waiting for you Chief morons to come up with magic stats for why second place is a wonderful and endearing place to be. Which way does the toilet swirl in your world? Get used to it. Its not changing.

I feel empathy for Jake because I get where he's coming from and there are a lot of old guard fans who you are not going to see posting here. They are from the Floyd Little era and where doing this Broncos thing before most of us were born. I'm not going to say Jake is wrong. Jake is an OLD SCHOOL fan. These guys still HATE the Raiders. Chiefs fans are not thought too highly of either. You have to go back to the days when the stadium was nothing more than stables to understand any of this.
I think that Jake Plummer is in the fight for his life because personally if he doesn't show something in the first four games the guy has peaked and begging your pardon but if that is all Jake's got and the kid is slinging rockets the competition for starter is already done.
Right now I promise you the Broncos want to trade Tatum Bell for the right price. If your passing game is red hot all you need from a running back is 5 yards on command. A game breaker isn't as high a priority.
-Slap- pointed out during the draft where the Broncos could have picked up a DT and I think about that and realize that would have really helped but ultimately the Broncos are going to use offense to go to market and if Plummer cannot lead then in the end he'll have to follow. My hope is that Jake stands up and makes his best effort but if you look at the recievers eyes they are like "Whoa. Dude. That was like right in my hands! Do that again! Dude! He did it again!" Reeeeaally hard to ignore happy recievers...

Funny coming from a Chiefs fan whose team has been wallowing in mediocrity for the better part of 36 years.
It's pretty obvious that Cutler is Bob's worst nightmare...Cutler will continue the Broncos tradition of playing "stay down bitch" with the Chiefs for many years to come.

I don't get this either. Cutler was a great pick-up for the Broncos and when the time comes I'll cheer my ass off for him. Right now, I'm 100% behind Jake to get the job done. Jake's not perfect but he's no where as bad as many have made him out to be this offseason. Rediculous!

this place is becoming so frustrating and so filled with ADD/fantasy geek generation kids that i question whether its worth the time anymore.
still plenty of good people here, but its getting old filtering through everyone else.
you know how i found this place?
i was on the "official" team site on a thread titled "plummer as good as elway....almost"
my stance of course was that that comment was ludicrous. my comments also included criticism of plummers play as well as stating the obvious which was that plummer hadnt proved much of anything yet.
that was in '03, and the majority of the board told me that i was just an old "elway homer" and i didnt appreciate plummers brilliance.
mock noticed a few of my posts and invited me over here. been here since.
now those same people (same kind of people anyway) call me a "plummer homer". what a fvckin joke.
plummer has broken team passing records, he's been a great leader on and off the field (he does all kinds of charity work here in town), he's led us to the playoffs all 3 years, and he's won more games than anyone but manning or brady...
...but we havent yet won it all with him under center, so supporting him is being a "homer".
apparently the educated fan would never support such a player.
instead theyll post avatars of cutler just like they posted plummers in '03.
this is the sports world we live in, and ill never change how i feel about the team, but i sure do question whether or not i should bother spending time here.
its mostly just irritating anymore.

it doesnt have anything to do with being "thin skinned".
its not like im here in my office punching the wall.
its just frustrating, and its sad to see the fall we as broncos fans have had.
we were once the most feared city to play in, and we were a SEA of orange.
now we're a sea (with too many holes in it) of blues and greys with a hint of orange.
we're not on the radar of feared places to play.
we boo our team, we bash the qb, we've gone corporate at the stadium, and anything less than a superbowl win is just complete failure.
there's plenty of us that try to fight it, and we have made some progress, but its an uphill battle and being here often just makes it more apparent.

It wont be like the old stadium anytime soon IMO. My tickets in SOuth stands were $25 the last year, the seats/benches were crowded and uncomfortable, no cup holder but it had character and I liked it. Now, not too many years later, my seats are now $70 and i got more room with my cup holder but I look around and not see the same blue collar types as much as the old stadium. This site helps bring the maniacness back to the broncos stadium home and even away. Dont give up and let those that think Jay Cutler is god like. We know who butters our toast. Let it go. Mile High stadium is dead. Whatever it was is not there and whatever is there is whatever it is but the old days are gone.
This sites doesn't bring back anything. Time goes forward. Babies are born. Old players die. The river flows forward. Nothing stays still.
I signed up to this place because it said "Where Raider hating is an artform" now we're the "online tailgate that never ends" and now we are even evolving from that I am sure.
CAUTION: RANT ALERT
My issue with the Chiefs fans is they still every thread with comparisons to Chief players. I don't mind comparisons. Do these Chief morons know about any of of the other 31 teams in the league? If the discussion is indeed about football why does everything devolve to "CHIEFS RULE". What is the difference between some moron 12 year old saying "CHIEFS RULE" and some guy who hijacks every thread, every discussion, and every poll to talk about a team that I am rapidly learning to hate? I can ignore stupidity but when Broncos fans swallow the bait hook line and sinker EVERY time...it gets old.
ALERT: RANT CONCLUDED
This is corporate football and we argue about salary cap, paper numbers, and imaginary wins. There is very little of old school football left. I watch the game for heart, inspiration and to see the good guys win. I don't care about Terrell Owens, Ashley Lelie, or how enthralled some poster is with Trent Green's azz.

I went to Mile High several times. It was 10X more run down than McNichols arena. The hatred of the new stadium is idiotic. Bowlen took several steps to try to keep it loud, including an exemption to move the stands in closer and putting in steel risers. It's not his fault it doesn't shake like an old woman with Parkinsons. I remember getting nervous that the stands were going to collapse when I felt the stadium rocking. I actually went down and looked at the support structure and what I saw made me even more nervous. Rusted main load bearing bolts, cracked cement around main members and other scary stuff.
The reason that the stadium is more quiet is as much it's structural integrity as the fact that Joe 6-pack can't afford tickets anymore. I remember picking up 10 dollar streets and a burrito by just walking into the stadium. We could find street parking maybe 5 blocks west of Federal for free. They chased off the burrito ladies. Yes, they were the good old days. Grabbing a burrito on the way in, you could easily take a little nip with you tucked under your belt without being shaken down, and actually sneak a smoke if you were discreet and just took a couple puffs, altho I would almost always go to the open area on the ramps. I doubt you can even do that now.
Now, every bowl game has a corporate sponsor like Tostido's Fiesta Bowl and the corporate overload that I thought had maxed just continues to infiltrate the whole sports world, not just football. They now have commecials during the actual game all over the place. Halftime highlights brought to you by Toyota or whatever. None of it induces me to buy their products anymore than seeing Bud on Dale Jr. Chevy will make me buy overpriced beer or buy a under engineered car.
Times change. The fans have too. Alot of people can do other things with 400 bucks for a family of 4 just to go to a game.
I remember right after 9/11 and I had this old F-250 with a huge camper that I had to use to take my mom to the airport after I moved. There were cops everywhere. I was eyed pretty damn good as I dropped her off. Luckily a gray lady got out and I didn't get shaken down. The thing would of made the perfect car bomb. I got looked over pretty good till mom got out. My point is times have changed. We can't change it.

They took the fans who have been sitting next to FOR YEARS in the south stands for years and scattered them to the all sides of the stadium then put guards so that I cannot go up or down to see them bcause I might accidently mingle with a wine and cheese paying customer.
They made tailgating impossible for four years. Meck77 literally saved tailgating with OF1. He single handedly brought back tailgating because a lot of the fans I used to tailgate with are not coming back.
They have raised ticket prices and shown preference to box seat owners almost as a rule.
They made the team inaccessible for years and are now trying feverishly to reverse this.
They took my tax dollars which I trusted to be spent on NEW MILE HIGH and spent them on INVESCO FIELD @ Mile HI.
A lot of the changes on top of these are due to 9/11 (The day after Eddie's career died)
Anyone who has any opinion about this stadium that isn't putting their tax dollars in really needs to STFU. You don't know what happened. You weren't there and you don't get it. It has nothing to do with the stadium building. It has everything to do with how the people were treated at that time.
Right now it's water under the bridge but if you didn't sit in the stadium for years IMHO you aren't qualified to talk about this subject. You are just a wine and cheese sympathizer and your stock just goes down bad in my eyes.

I agree. We still have great fans, and the best fans in the league. Look, we got a new stadium and fans were scattered, and I'll admitt, the home field advantage wasnt' as good as the old mile high. have you been there?
if you sit in the fifth level and leave to do NOTHING but take a piss and you leave a couple minutes BEFORE the half ends......you STILL miss half the third quarter!!
there are 2:1 womens to mens bathrooms, and the troughs have been replaced by individual stalls.
i try to drink less soda/water before and during the game because i know ill miss the game if i have to take a wizz.
i go on the bus before we leave for the stadium and then AGAIN right before going to our seats, and then i hold it the whole game. im gonna give myself a bladder infection, but at least i wont miss a play.
as for the noise, its NOT because of the design of the stadium.
the new stadium concrete was laid down, and LOOSE steel was then laid on top of it SOLELY for the purpose of making it loud when people stomp their feet.
its the FANS that make it not as loud.
when we're at our very best, it DOES feel like the old stadium.
we just need to be at our best a LOT more often than we are now.
