Shanahan runs the show, and he wouldn't of drafted for the future to satisfy the present. IMO, he feels that the team has made a run and can make another, but is putting pennies in the bank. We have some damn good prospects in Cutler, Walker[vet], Shaffer, Marshall and Dumervile. We have some young corners and a couple players like Myers, Browner and Duke and Devo on the fringes.

Denver solidified it's spot as an elite team despite having to draft late with both picks.

What I am saying is that Shanahan isn't looking short term at all.

Why Shanahan is here for the long term
Because Plummer isn't.

Because he's one of the top 3 coaches in the league....and any owner would be stupid to let him go.

yup. We have a team that can win it now, and plus he has brought in very good players for the future. I hope he never leaves.

Its good for Shananhan to look long term. I love the draft picks. Even if they dont pan out, he took a chance. We have a roster now mixed w/ veterans and youths w/ outstanding potential.

I'm glad Shanny will be here till the day he finally decides to call it a career.

"He's got four years to go on his contract, and I'm not firing him," Bowlen said after Denver's 20-17 victory over Miami.

Idiot. Says the bonehead who said Plummer has broken most of Elway's records.

I would love to see Mike get to at least 200 wins, 7 more year may do it.

Getting Cutler is a big motivation. No matter how well JAke does this year and maybe next having a guy like Cutler makes Jakes upcoming pay days seem suddenly too high.

The big reason Cutler will keep Shanny here though is he is Mike's first true bonefide 'Franchise QB' chosen by him from the start that he gets to mold from the ground up, in his image so to speak.

I hope the Broncos can get another 10-15 years out of Shanny. In the first ten years Shanny has cut a good chunk out of the Raiders head-to-head lead over the Broncos . The Raiders had something like a 48-19-2 lead over the Raiders. Now it's 54-37-2. Shanny took a big bite out of that gap in a relatively short period of time.

ya and the fact that he has won us two super bowls, had us consistently in the playoffs, and havent picked in the top 10 in his entire tenure(or only once). look at the cowboys after letting go landry..mediocrity. holmgren leaves packers..relative mediocrity. many other coaches too. have an easily top 10 more likely top 5 coach is a huge godsend and makes so many things easier. shanahan is without a doubt a great gameday coach and IMO, a great drafter and personnel guy. cant think of anything that he has really fouled up. the draft is a crapshoot! IMO.

thanks for the years shanny and keep it up!

thank god shanny doesn't pick high first rounders lots.

he seems to do ok with "value" in the second and third.

but i still think his drafting has changed the last two years. somebody else is playing in that process.

Shanahan is here for the long term as long as Bowlen keeps sucking Shanahans dick.

Sundquist. And the Assistants have been more vocal, and Heimerdinger this past draft, and, well, you know, the old dog learned a new trick....

I think the Cutler pick was brilliant.

I think Jake will be the QB for two more years. I think that's great. I think Shanahan will coach for five more years.
