I don't really know enough about either of them to say which one we (hypothetically) should go after.

I think Mike liked Williams, but he seems like a guy that will just get fat.

If the liedowns are going to dump a wideout why would they take another wideout?

I still think Mike Williams could dominate the middle on the right team, But if we already have Marshal, we might want to look in a different direction in terms of skill-set...

If Mike Williams would embrace an Hback role he will have a fine Career. I do not think he has the leaping/athletic ability to be a dominant wideout. I think we are set at WR in any case with Terrell, JW, Rod. I think one of Watts, Marshall, Hixon will also emerge as a slot guy.

Mike Martz...

I think Lelie would have a great year lined up on the other side of Roy (who is a stud!). I doubt he would see double coverage all year.

I'm not sure if the Lions would be interested but I think Lelie would definitley want to play for Martz and I think Martz would love to have someone like Lelie. I don't know if I'd want either Williams or Rogers but if I had to pick I'd take Williams unless you can get Rogers on like an incentive laden contract or something cheap in case he gets injured again the guy has played in 15 games in 3 yrs.

Rogers is frail. He's missed a huge amount of time with injuries. Also got busted for drugs last year.

Mike Williams would probably be the safer pickup.

neither. Both have baggage.
But Mike would be a better choice if the trade came up.

They used pick #11 (I think) to get Williams he will not be cheap to trade for. Rodgers was picked high also but has had multiple collerbone breaks and failed a drug test so he will be let go far easier. I personaly liked M. Williams when he was at USC didnt see him do much last year so not certain how he is now.

No need to trade. One will be released unless someone is desperate enough to trade to get them. Martz signed Hakim to help be the slot WR. Neither of those guys are sticking around to be the fourth WR.
Lelie would fit Martz style exactly but would still get pressed alot at the Line. They have other needs to fill.
Wait, it is Matt Millen ;D Let's go Billy get 'R' done.

Mike Williams - horribly overrated
Charles Rogers - horribly injury prone
I'd call it a push

Weren't there a lot of rumors that Shanny REALLY wanted Williams last year in the draft? I loved watching him play in college, and would happily take him now.

Williams over Rodgers all day - how is Williams a bust? He's playing for Detroit for Christ sake!
Rodgers hits the bong a lil too much for me - hell, he'd probably chip a tooth toking on the bong and be out for 6-10 weeks.

I'd take Mike Williams from them without much hesitation. It depends on what they want for him.
And no, Ashley Lelie would not be a part of that deal because he wouldn't be the #1 receiver in Detroit either.

Remember Williams has put on a lot of weight this off season- about 250 pounds- and it ain't muscle.

IMO, when he says he wants to "compete for the no.1" he means he wants to start. There was an snippet from PFW that said he wasn't opposed to playing in Denver or for Shanahan, he just doesn't want to be the no. 3 (I'll see if I can find the link).
He'd most likely start in Detroit...

Black Label will make you gag even if it's icy cold. If someone comes over you want to leave, hand them a semi cool Black Label, cool enough it doesn't feel warm. It's absolutely horrible. Believe it or not, Milwalkee Ice is actually decent and cheap, it's actually Icehouse. Regular and Lite are swill.
I would love to get Mike Williams for Lelie. We could convert him to TE/H-back or make him drop the fat. His contract wouldn't be a problem at all. The Lions are on the hook for the signing bonus. Alot of us liked him alot, David Terrell too. WR's are just as hard to judge as QB's. Don't tell me Harrington doesn't have talent, that's just a screwed up organization. Till they get rid of Millen they will suck. It's a revolving door at head coach too.

I never understood the fascination with Mike Williams as a high first round pick. I still think Vincent Jackson is a better long term prospect.

Why?
Williams has done nothing and Brandon Marshall already gives us everything he does and more, for way less money.

Agreed. Rogers has elite talent when he's not injured or suspended.

Don't take my lukewarm interest in Williams to be an endorsement of Rogers. I have no interest in him or his buttery soft collarbones.

Cole Hamels available in any of your leagues? Might not be a bad idea to get in on the grouind floor on this one.

I really like Mike Williams, but like slap said; that salary hit is just too much for the production he would would likely deliver.
Brandon Marshall is indeed intriguing, but I just get the feeling the guy will be something of a project.
Maybe not, we'll see.
