Ahmad Brooks is a major character risk and he needs to play in a 3-4 defense. Because of reason two, I don't expect him to become a Bronco. Have any other draftable prospects declared for this year's supplemental draft?

are you frickin crazy? why would we use a 2nd round on a former 280 lb LB who's lazier than LenDale & Maurice Clarett combined when we can draft a Darrent Williams,Clinton Portis or Tatum Bell with it?(note: this started as a Paul Toviessi joke but i decided against it)

Bobby Humphrey was a supplemental pick and had several decent seasons in a Bronco Uni.

"Since its inception, 33 players have been selected in the supplemental draft, but few of those athletes went on to make an impact in the pros. In the earlier years of this draft, teams seemed more than willing to forfeit a first round draft pick the following year, hoping to get an instant return for that investment.
"Five quarterbacks, one receiver, one running back and one linebacker have had the honor of being chosen in the first round. Some of the more recognizable names have been Dave Wilson (New Orleans), Bernie Kosar (Cleveland), Steve Walsh (Dallas), Timm Rosenbach (Phoenix/Arizona), Dave Brown (New York Giants), Rob Moore (New York Jets), Bobby Humphrey (Denver) and Brian Bosworth (Seattle), all taken in the first round. Kosar and Moore went on to have very productive careers, but the others were found less than wanting and never made the impact their respective teams hoped. In the draft's later rounds, future stars like Cris Carter (Philadelphia, fourth round) and Mike Wahle (Green Bay, second round) proved to be major finds."

I think you're crazy. I'm pretty sure he was drafted in the entry draft...

Yeah. The Falcons took him in the second round 33rd overall.

What's the distinction between supplemental and entry? How do guys "miss" the entry by two months?

They simply do not fax the papers to declare by the January deadline. Its virtually never done on purpose....they are usually guys who would be seniors who find out (after the deadline) that they will be academically ineligible for the fall semester or guys who are kicked out of school in the spring for any number of reasons.

Books could be worth a late second round pick but the Broncos are real solid at linebacker and do n't think they would draft him. I think Dallas might use a second rounder on him.

Bobby Humphrey was on his way to having a fine career, but he shot himself in the foot.

Or, in Kosar's case, you graduate early and make a big deal about how you want to play for your hometown team.

I give Bobby Humphrey somewhat of a pass because he was the 1st 1,000 yd Running Back that I can personally remember...
He did it twice didn't he...
Sammy Winder doesn't count... I don't know if he every ran for 1,000 yds... But I don't know what Sammy Winder is... But he sure as hell isn't a Running Back...

Bobby did it (1000) twice then held out and was never heard form again. Or something like that.

I would do this.
I wouldnt declare for the draft if I had the skills. I would refuse to play NFL ball if it was for some other team than teh Broncos. Money be damned, I can make that outside the NFL and make more than enough to keep me content. I would NOT play for any other team under any circumstances.

Sammy Winder was one of the all time over achievers to ever wear the uniform. The man got as close to 100% out of his abilities as anybody this side of Meck and Eddie Mac.

Flat out, I cannot stand Sammy Winder. If I'm lucky I just puke alittle in my mouth everytime I hear his name, instead of All Over My Desk, My Computer, My Keyboard...
The guy should have been a Qweef or a legacy-era Buccaneer or in Cincinnati during their "glory-years"...

I think Reeves loved Winder because he reminded him of the way he played when he was a Cowboy. Revees wasn't the greatest RB either but he got some tough yards & caught the ball out of the backfield

Wasn't Jamal Williams of the Bolts a supplemental pick. If so, he turned out to be pretty good.
