Holding McNair Hostage in Memphis

This is absurd. Watching McNair being treated this way by the Titans is criminal. The guy was the icon of the team and is kicked out of the facility and then held hostage in the hope that Billick will cave?

WTF are they thinking. Billick knows that the Titans will have to release him. That's completely disrespectful to a QB that a few years ago was tied I think for the MVP or seriously considered. The guy picked himself up off the carpet when he could of layed down. I'm not very pleased with his treatment, and to think Billick the liar is going to blink is totally naive.

The Titans are owned by Bud Adams......"class" is a concept that's totally foreign to that guy. It is dispicable to see McNair being treated this way after literally being pounded into a pulp season after season and leaving everything the guy had on the field year in and year out.

I think they're doing the right thing. They don't have to cut him, and Balt is either in their divison and definately in their conference. Switch the team names to Chiefs and Broncos..and then tell me how you feel about it. McNair has not had a career of note...his 15 were up a long time ago.

If I were Tenn I'd do the exact same thing. The Ravens aren't a favorite of anybody in the AFC... nobody really cares for them! Shanny and Jeff (Fisher) are friends, I wouldn't be suprised if Shanny is in his ear saying, the longer you hold on to Steve the less time he has to pick up the offense in Baltimore. I know that "Air" McNair is a class act and isn't getting the best deal from Tenn. But, this is a business and sometimes business gets ugly. First, Fisher doesn't call the shots or shouldn't, the conversation was about Cutler. It's irrelevant if anyone likes the Titans honestly. I doubt any conversation ever happened regarding McNair between the two. It's a business, but it's also a situation where it's obvious he is out, and he should be allowed to leave, alot more than Lelie. Picking up an offense wouldn't be a problem for McNair, it's just vindictive hoarding. I will refrain real comment.

Just let him go for christ sake. This guy is one, two years away max. When Jake is set to pasture, we might get something, but we certainly won't hold him back. Lelie is a totally different matter.

As much as I hate the Titans front office for doing this, I can't help but be mad a McNair too, for not taking the salary cut. I mean, he is not worth what he is gonna get paid anymore. He just is'nt. Both sides have no class, or essense of Loyalty. If McNair were loyal to teh team, he'd take the but to stick around. If the Front office were Loyal to their One-Tme Co-MVP Franchise QB, they'd pay him what they said they would.

I, personally, would be much happier if McNair stayed, and Volek hit the FA market.

Yeah, that was my thinking. Fisher seems like a pretty stand-up guy. I think somoeone was speculating ('mock?) about Fisher losing influence in the organization around draft time.

And, you're right McNair should take a cut, but I suspect he doesn't want to be a titan, where he'd be on the bench or killed again with that team, when he can start for Balt, where that team could be a superbowl contender. But, imo, McNair's about done. It's like that talk about Marino playing on. I think the guys wheels are shot, and he doesn't have a season left.

ps, what deal did volek sign? was it like last offseason he hit the FA market but decided to stay. Is he locked up long term? If so, what a screw job. If you give him time to get a playbook, review the formations, and then get him on the field with your WR's to develop some timing. Don't know if you noticed, but both the Titans and Ravens are in the AFC. That means, they could be competing for a playoff spot with one and other. The Titans probably look at this situation and say, hey, the longer we keep McNair out of Baltimore the less productive he'll be to start the season and the better our chances of earning a playoff spot before them. I'd almost bet my bottom dollar that if we were talking about the Washington Redskins instead of the Baltimore Ravens, McNair would be released... or even traded by now. Ravens offered a 5th, Tennessee said no, we want a 4th. If they would have offered a 4th they would have required a 3rd. This was the plan all along. That has nothing to do with it. Tenneessee won four(?) games last year with Steve McNair. They have done nothing of note in free agency and they are going to lose their franchise QB in free agency. Only a baffoon would believe that team is competing for the playoffs next season. With that in mind, I'm sure this is just posturing on Tennessee's part to get a higher draft pick from Baltimore or any other mystery team that might jump into the fray. They don't want McNair to walk away scotch free when a team is already showing interest in him. Wow. It's really amazing how some folks can completey not understand the situation. The team is not doing anything wrong and they aren't the only team to keep a player out of the training facility. It's not like he can't enter the building. Geesh. They just don't want him working out there. If he injures himself they are on the hook for 24 MILLION dollars this season and he'll have no trade value if they can't get something worked out.

Actually the trade talks were going on BEFORE the pick. The Ravens offered a very late round pick and Reese refused to let him go for that crappy of a pick.

Reese is sitting down with his agent and they are going to try to hammer something out. Apparantly the Baltimore talk is now dead.

They have done nothing of note in free agency and they are going to lose their franchise QB in free agency.

Guys, the radio talk shows down here are saying that they are holding off on doing anything in hopes that he changes his mind about leaving. All they show on tv is shots of VY calling McNair his Dad, or saying he is like a father to him. They figure the longer he is here the softer his stance will be.
