This guy looks like he's definitely got the body to go over the middle and take the abuse...no more skinny recievers! Do we finally have the next Eddie Mac? He looks like he can take the pounding.

"Baby TO" has his namesake's biceps...check out this link on him from one of the Tampa Bay boards: http://bbs.buccaneers.com/showthread.php?t=116669
How sweet would it be if he turns out to have TO's talent and Rod's work ethic and character? 8')

Thats exactly what I think Shanny has in mind. Eddie Mac wasnt that fast either but could always get good separation so hopefully Rod will teach him a thing or two.

Reports are that he has a bit of TO's attitude as well.

I just of put this on another thread or screwed up this late, but reportedly, his second pro day he ran a 4.45 40.

He had a couple bad times but has soft hands and times pretty close to 4.5. Who knows. He's quite big and beefy. I'm just getting tired of WR's being converted to TE's. Here we go again.

mccaffrey was faster than most people knew.......he was faster than rod smith and rumored to have been clocked at a 4.37 40.....
so i'll just round it up to 4.4 which is still blazing8')

This guy is going to be the next Rod Smith, not Easy Ed...
Brandon is not that slow, at the combine he ran faster than Stovall and Hagan I beleive, and he weighed 10 pounds heavier.

I hope we keep him at WR. Please, keep him there. I wonder what he actually weighs in at, I've seen anywhere from 210 to 230.

I haven't seen anything reported like that. What are you referring to, and do you have a link? The only thing I've read is that he wants to learn from Smith.

I saw that posted on the Tampa board, but that is probably an unconfirmed time somebody threw out there. His combine times I think were 4.5 and 4.52 but that's still pretty fast for a guy with his size.

I posted a question on another thread wondering about McCaffreys 40 speed but I absolutely don't belief he ever clocked a 4.37. Don't you think he was closer to 4.45 to 4.5. I would like to see some reliable information on this. I think his separation came from technique (route running) and he gained advantage due to his physical size and long arms.

The combine numbers show him at 6'4", 230. BTW...this guy was a triple jump champion in high school and logged a 48' distance, which is big time. What intrigues me about him is the fact that he really hasn't played much receiver. He moved to safety his junior year due to injuries in his team's defensive backfield. He's pretty raw so imagine if he's got this kind of talent to play more than one position what he might be once he's focusing only on receiver. I don't see him moving to TE because there's no need. We drafted Sheffler and have three other TE's from last year including an H-back sized Duke at 6'5", 230. I'm envisioning a reciever corp that minus Ash still includes Marshall at 6'4", Scheffler at 6'5", and Walker at 6'3", Terrell at 6'3" and Rod as the pigmy at 6'0". That's some nice size, especially in the red zone.

The thing I like about him having played safety is that it shows he doesn't mind contact, which bodes well for his becoming a good blocker. And with soft hands, then, yeah, he can fill the role that Easy Ed had.
He'll probably wear more pads though . . .

Given our draft history, it's more likely Brandon Marshall will be the next Chris Cole, Travis McGriff, Leleave, Darius Watts, Triandos Luke, Herb Heygood, Marcus Nash.
At this point I throw up whenever I hear about the next great hope at WR for Denver.

All the guys on that list are either short or light. I don't see any 6'4", 230 pounders in that group. We had minimal success drafting corners until last year also...and even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then!

True. But we should be patient with this pick. He played safety in 2004 and is at least two years away from learning the position. But on the plus side he should contribute well on ST.

This entry says there is no problem:
8. Brandon Marshall Ht:Wt: 6-5/229 Yr: Senior College: Central Florida
Scouting Report: Marshall is called “Baby T.O.” by scouts and it’s not because of his attitude. This man-child has ridiculous size, strength, and surprised many with a 4.5 forty at the March Combine. Like Owens, his level of competition wasn’t great in college. Also like T.O. once upon a time, Marshall dominated his collegiate opponents and looks like a raw player with limitless upside.
Outlook: He’s a great sleeper for dynasty league fantasy players. Williams will be a first-day pick and is someone to watch closely if brought into the right situation.
Draft Buzz: He’s seen as a third- or fourth-round selection, although it wouldn’t surprise us to see Marshall creep into the late second. We like him.

However, I have run across several reports indicating that Marshall was suspended for a game during his Junior season, apparently due to some sort of conflict with the coach. I can't find any details beyond that. All the links seem to be dead.

Just like Rod, Easy Ed's success came from hard work and smarts. When Ed first came into the league he was a marginal talent. But by strength training and perfecting his routes, he became a 100 catch guy. And he was by no means slow -- in a sense, he decepted everybody. He was the perfect combination of strength, perfect hands, technique and deceptive speed. When he broke his leg that night -- he was still holding on to the ball. Thats Ed -- if Ash had half that heart, he would be our #1 a long time ago.

I recall that as well, but it was over something minor. I think he broke something...a telephone maybe. He must have had a disagreement with the coach and busted the phone over it. Not ideal...but also not TO either.
I hope he's ready to learn from Rod. If so, it sounds like he can go a long way.
