Anybody think this guys gonna be any good?
I had us taking Hali from the beginning. No special insight, just a feeling.
At 15 I actually thought you guys might pick him. I was surprized to see the Broncos trade up for a QB this year.

He's sure to be a bust now. King Carl put a bad mojo on the poor SOB.

lol! @ Bendog...we can only hope
I thought the Broncos would take him at #15 or #37...he stocked dropped because of a poor workout at the Combine. Instead of focusing on the Combine he loaded up on college classes to get his degree on time and he's working on getting his mother to the US from Africa. Sounds sounds like a solid human being.....I don't think he was a reach at all.

He will be hated until he is either out of the division or he is a Bronco.
I pity him though. Poor guy. Nobody should have to get stuck in KC as their first NFL stop.

I think he can be great...same witht eh hitting FS...and the QB you guys drafted. I've already graded the KC as a b+

Seriously, I liked him. In the Penn st games I saw, he had a high motor. I think it was Slap who said he'd have trouble at LDE at his size, and I think that's prolly true. If the Chorfs stick with Allen at RDE and force Hali to LDE it'd be par for the course.
I'm interested to see how Kiwi does. Supposedly DeBrick just whooped his butt all week long for the Senior Bowl.
So what's up with this Africa angle? Are both Timba and Kiwi from Africa? Which one has the family still back in a war zone?

I was very unhappy that the Chiefs got him. He has the mental toughness to play right away, is good against the run, and of course can rush the passer. The only saving grace is he is likely to play LDE other than RDE this year with Allen at RDE. He may struggle more on that side in the NFL getting chipped by the TE's and such. He is a good pick if you guys are going to try and play a modified Tampa Cover two.
On the Other hand, I was really glad the chiefs selected Pollard ;D He is a big time Problem! I have a friend who works with the football team at Purdue and he HATES the guy. He and Ray Edwards were serious problems up there with that Defense. They fought with the Staff constantly and were a nightmare distraction in practices. I thought he was more destined to be a Raider than a chief though.

I like the 1st 2 as well. But I have no feeling one way or the other on the 3rd rounder. Sounds like he has talent but may be an injury risk.

I like Hali think KC could have traded back a bit to grab him. I Think the Chiefs did what they had to in the draft. Could have went CB a little early, but perhaps they have plans after June 1st.

Pollard = trouble? I hope not. He's not in a postion to be too much trouble. He has a couple decent safeties in front of him.

Both have tragic backrounds in Africa. Hali's Mother is still waiting to get out of Liberia and he came here around 10 or 11 to be with his father. Kiwanuka's GrandFather was assasinated in Africa By Idi Amin leading to his family fleeing the Country of Uganda. Mathias has lived a privilidged life in the US, unlike Hali and his situation though. Kiwanuka is the greatest Bust risk in the Whole Draft in My opinion based on his lack of Desire to play football.

Well he is a pretty solid player against the run in addition to his pass rush abilities. I know some chief fans who wanted some other ends who were on the board, but you guys have had some luck with African nationals before.

After reading the story The Sporting News did, I was hoping to root for him even if the Broncos didn't get him. It's disappointing that I can't now.

He is really immature and needs to grow up. He is also a Junior looking to get paid and left early because of his volatile relationship with the Staff. I know Knight is still there But I thought the Chiefs released their other two safeties and CB's?

His experience with third-world environments and citizens will surely come in handy in Kansas City.
Hali's talented, but not worth the 20th overall pick. I also don't think he's a great choice for a Chiefs team that isn't as bad at end as they are at almost every other D position. An LB or CB would have been a better choice. DeMeco Ryans for instance, who would have still been something of an overpick, would have been a much better fit, as his solid, heady game would be a stablizing presence on KC's otherwise fundamentally weak D.

I loved the Hali pick and hated the Pollard pick. I would have taken Derek Hagan at that spot and if they were dead set on a safety I would have taken Ko Simpson. Pollard can bring the wood but is a head case and doesn't do well in pass coverage.

The Croyle pick made your draft... We will regret the Cheeves getting him, I'm afraid....

I thought Hali was a late 2nd/early 3rd guy and he went way to early. I was afraid we'd take him at #15 also...I admire this guy tremendously for his character and realize his combine scores were low for a good reason, but I also watched him play a bit this year since I was sure we'd go for a DE early in this draft. Every time I saw him play, I saw a guy who gives it his all with the non stop motor, but he's just to slow footed. He was being left in the dust by lead-footed QB's and he just doesn't have a good closing burst IMO.
He could turn out to be a decent pick based on him being an overachiever, but I also think he's to small to play the left side so I didn't understand the pick. I figured you guys would go for Winston Justice at 20 to replace Roaf, who is nearing the end of the line. I'm so glad you didn't.

I like it a lot, actually. Hali is a guy I'd have been happy with the Broncos taking at 15 had they stayed in that spot. Hard worker, motor that never stops, strong character guy.
I think you guys got a good one. Congrats.

I like the Hali pick but the question is what do you think of the Cutler pick. I know it won't help this year but he could be playing cowboy's and indians with the chefs for a long time.

The Hali pick was probably a good one, but I feel the Pollard pick is a HUGE reach. Both Darnell Bing and Ko Simpson were still on the board, and scouting reports I've seen indicate either player would be good for Gunther's attacking style of defense...

Hali will be seen as the 2nd best DE in this draft down the road. His main problem is he gets completely owned if a large OLineman locks him up its over. He was a great pick for the chefs I really wanted Denver to land him.

Let's see if his game translates to the NFL. Of all the early DE picks i thought he had the lowest cieling but also the highest floor... Probably a safe pick but i'm not sure if his motor alone is enough to get it done on Sundays.
I like the Hali pick.
Very aggressive and absolutely relentless.
I was thinking/hoping we would land him (matter of fact, I did a mock on a fantasy site I post on and took him with our #15).

I would agree with that assessment if Hali remains a LDE in the pros. A safe pick but never a probowler. However, he would be a great every play RDE with his Traits. I think he will flourish as a RDE. Thank God the Chiefs have Allen as their RDE and will play Hali as a LDE ;D

On a positive side for the chorfs, if during contract negotiations King Carl tells him to "sit the fick down," Timba might just break his neck

I say we help them and their coaching staff make up their minds... Lets run right at him for a game or 2 and see what how he does :wiggle:

From what I've heard / read ...
Hali lacks upper body strength. At the combine he only lifted 17 on the bench. Culter threw up 21.
:strong:
Strong first move, but that's it. May have problems with NFL caliber tackles, and if he is doubled (with a TE) forget about it.
So an improvment over Hicks. ;D
