Yep, Ratboy. First drive at Tenn, he rifled three passes right there, and a couple drops. I saw the throwing off the back foot a little there, but he is rifling it right on target and these guys are dropping it.

Apparently his O-line had some injuries that year too, so it's a worst case scenario.

The action picks up in about thirty minutes into the Ole Miss game. Cutler has some great athletic ability. He can really run.

He made one bad throw but then nailed the guy right in the hands for a 12 yard conversion on third down.

I really like what I am seeing in the Tennessee game. Its just a flick of the wrist and the ball is there and right where it needs to be. He's surrounded by scrubs. They are losing yards many times on runs. He is just throwing some nice passes right now. Very impressive.

Kaylore
04-30-2006, 11:23 PM

The drive that made it 21-7 in the Tennessee game was really impressive. These are just frozen ropes and they are right on the money. Nice awareness of the defense to check to quick 1 step passes when the slot receivers are uncovered, nice accuracy on short throws and a nice gun on a post over the middle of the field. The rollout throw for the TD was threaded right in there too.

His accuracy is his biggest asset. I don't knowhow anyone can put the ball in those tiny places but he does it. He's been hit while he throws once for every three passes. Incredible.

Check out Vandy with the 5 receiver sets - Can't help but love that and might be a big reason as to why Shanny is loading up at the WR position. We are gonna have a passing game soon men!!!

Cutler throws on the wrong foot? or is it just me? he has amazing arm strength for throwing on the run - I like! The Ball just gets there!!! Maybe we'll have to invite Elway in to see who can break the WR hands.

All I can say is Wow. Just wait till you see this one, Khan. Can you believe how pin-point accurate he is? I really didn't think people could throw like that, especially with some d-lineman's hand in your face and on one foot. It's almost like that commercial where the two Basketball players are trying to out-do each other.

"tight end, between safety and corner, on one foot moving sideways while getting nailed by the linebacker."

Completed for a thirty yard gain on third and sixteen.

Tennessee game announcer just said he's the best he has ever seen at the QB position and that he DOES NOT get rattled with a rough start - he loves competition. Such confidence with downfield throws - something missing in Jake. Tough Kid that can run the ball which sets up a great possibilities for a screen play following his scrambling.

Every Friday during Irv & Joe on 950 The Fan, they have a guy on named Buddy Martin who lives in Florida and is a huge Gators fan (I think he used to do radio here once upon a time, I'm not sure). In shanny we trust.

We moved at 3rd and 07 4th to move to 15 from 29 which was absurd. Then we moved our #22 for a second and a third. Then we moved the 15 and the 3rd to move to 11.

Most amazing is we still got Javon Walker, Kept Lelie, and had 3 4th rounders left and dished off a second to GB for Walker, and got a TE. Then we picked up some fodder that might pan out. Eslinger, is can't see how he dropped to us.

I had a hell of a time getting this video to run. Cutler is lucky he hasn't have two ACL's. His line and recievers sucked. His line was absolutely terrible.

He makes plays in the clutch, fast reads, he's tall, he's strong, he's fast, he's heady, he's got good character, he's smart.

I don't know what to say. The College hype is real. Now will that help him at the pro level? Well if Shanahan can get Griese to the Pro-bowl, I love our chances with this kid.

Even on the dumpoff that went for 40 yards he put the ball in a perfect spot that did not stop the momentum of the RB. It was just so quick, a flip of the wrist.

Did you watch his eyes? Half of what he does is he won't look at his targets until right before the throw and that freezes defenders.

Yes. What I really love is his pocket awareness. He has a feel for when to get the ball out of there and seems to know exactly where his quick reads and dumpoffs are.

Yeah, I'm none too thrilled. Even in his first year of starting, at worst, he will probably maximize the simple plays that Jake Plummer had been running. Instead of a wide receiver catching the pass thrown behind him and getting tackled for a seven-yard gain, the wide receiver catches it in stride and takes it for 20.

The throw that Plummer wouldn't attempt downfield, Cutler will gun in there without hesitation. Because he has the arm and confidence for it.

I'm watching the Tennessee/Vandy game.

The first drive looked horrible. His receivers sucked! Cutler hit them right in the hands and they dropped it.
That is what I was telling every one that he played alone his line sucks his receviers suck hell his whole team suck. This is called Cutler vs Ten.

I was getting sick of the pre-draft anti-Cutler posters who never watched the guy play.... not a single snap.

"He had a marginal record." "He is supposed to make his team better." "He doesn't deserve the hype."

Best QB in the draft, no question.

Ouch! As much as I love seeing the Broncos get Cutler, I hate watching Vandy shredding Tennessee.

As you all know Cutler is a fantastic qb but this kid had horrible talent around him. The only reason his wideouts caught the ball is due Cutler hitting them square in the chest. This year he really grew up and read defenses almost perfect. He took a beating and still got up. This kid is a football player and I can't wait to see him running the Broncos offense!

VERY quick release. Just a nano-second shy of a marino release. Handles pressure well. Hits recievers in stride. Looks to be able to make all the tough throws easily. If he were to have recvr's who could catch a well thrown ball consistently, he would have rung up major , major numbers. Looks like a good call to me...dman

I noticed another thing, He is hitting his 2nd and 3rd option on a multi-rcvr setting about 50% or greater of the time. It appears anyway, he can read defenses fairly readily...dman

Finishing the Ole Miss game now. Fourth quarter he makes some of the best throws I've seen. My favorite was a roll out throw across his boddy while getting hit and he nails this freshman in the endzone in the hands. The kid dropped the ball but it was a strike. It's almost worth watching the entire game just for that play. The kid is money.

I would say his quick release is comparable to Marino's, but he can move X100 better than Marino. Shanahan is the best friend a quarterback can wish for. It just doesn't get any better than this.

This draft will be remembered because of Jay Cutler, not Reggie Bush, and not Mario Williams. I am sold. He's our future.

His accuracy is his biggest asset. I don't knowhow anyone can put the ball in those tiny places but he does it. He's been hit while he throws once for every three passes. Incredible.

8 of 8 for 102 yards in the second quarter, people. 8')

His receivers are getting a lot of YAC on the short stuff, as a result.

Leinart was a statue behind a line with 3 NFL draft picks (the other 2 are underclassmen and are NFL prospects), with a 2nd overall pick at RB, another 2nd rounder at RB(who should have been a 1st rounder), a 3rd round TE, and sure fire NFL receivers. He also played in the Pac-10.

He was basically on an all star team. Let's see what happens when he's playing against a little more of a level playing field at AZ. Cutler is BY FAR a better pro prospect than Leinart. My guess is that Leinart wouldn't have lasted more than a few games as Vandy's QB. And if Cutler was USC's QB, he would have been the 1st or 2nd pick overall.

To bad the refs screwed them in OT, that cost them the bowl game.

But just watching Cutler and I saw him in person when Auburn played Vandy in 2003 in Nashville, you can not help but notice how great he can become.

Nice game by Cutler, but he's got a few bad habits he'll need to work on. Didn't see him set right with his feet all the time and his throwing motion was too much arm and not enough shoulder.

But we don't need him to start right away so Shanahan will have time to work on him.

What I'd like to see now is for the team to offer him a considerably bigger signing bonus in exchange for his signing for 7, rather than 5 years. I think the signing bonus will be in the neighborhood of $1,000,000, if I have read other posters correctly. Getting him for an extra million dollars for two more years today will be worth every penny.

I only watched part of the Tenn game. He's really impressive. Mike outdid himself this year.

Yeah, his protection was iffy at times. But when he did have solid protection he gambled quite a bit and those passes where he was throwing it up for grabs and into double coverage will be ints in the NFL and this was with Vanderbilt in the game, not trying to catchup.

There's a reason this kid was drafted after Leinhart and Young. He's got talent but is less ready than the other two and will need at least a year holding the clipboard to work on his bad habits and I wouldn't have anybody but Shanahan (Well, maybe Gruden) doing it.

I don't remember where it was posted, but I remember seeing the results of the Vandy "pro day" and there was one WR who ran a 4.6 - 4.7 40, and a TE that ran a 5.15 or something.
