Anyone else hoping for Lendale at 37??

I think we just had a great draft.. gone were the days of myself getting to NYC by 6am to stand outside all morning to wait all day and hear us taking a Willie Middlebrooks

Cutler pick was amazing! and in hindsight I love getting Javon Walker at 37 but how many of you were sitting pick by pick(before we knew the Walker trade happened) that we would be grabbing Lendale at 37??

Apologies is this was posted already but did anyone ask Shanny if he was targetting Lendale there before the Javon deal happened??

The only pick I am baffled at is the TE we took in Round 2 when Leonard Pope was sitting there for the taking. Any reports of why Pope fell below all the other TEs in the draft???

Just wonering if there was any ammo we had left(Lelie included) to trade with someone to get back in the mix to grab Lendale before the Titans did.. I wonder if that was even a possibility.

Pope fell because he's dumb as a rock...don't fall for all the name-recognition bs. Scheffler's a great prospect in his own right. Great size, speed, versatility. I'll trust Shanahan's judgement on this one.

I also love the DE pick. Hope he can contribute, because a threat off the edge is greatly needed.

Lendale would have been fine but Denver was more than likely looking at Jackson. But when NE jumped ahead it made Shanny and Co. go in another direction. Trading for Javon was not only a smart move but necessary at the time.

No, I think it would have been difficult for him to be a rookie with big cash in his hometown. As much as I think on the field it would have been a great fit off the field I think there would be too many distractions.

A running back in the 1st couple of rounds was always gonna be a waste unless he was a great receiving threat out of the backfield. Denver have been able to plug and play rb's for the last decade there's no reason to think that history will change with Dayne and Bell back there. More and more teams are using the 2 back attack, the top 3 rushing teams last year were duel backfields, Atlanta, Pittsburgh and ourselves.

I really wanted White after the national championship game, and I would have been very happy with White at the #37 pick. However, I'm excited about Javon Walker and I'm comfortable with the RBs on the roster (not necessarily excited, but comfortable).

Shanny said in his press conference today they were considering Maroney out of Minnesota, who would have been a far better fit for Denver than LenDale White, with the 15th pick.

So Denver wasnt really interested in running backs in this year's draft.

I AGREE - that guy looked like an idiot! After he was drafted he stood up and started yelling like he had something to prove. I'm happy he'll be in Tennessee with Young - you know their IQ's will be a perfect fit there.

No way that the NE move for Jackson influenced us at all. It was Javon all the way at 37. He will have a far better career than LW.

never wanted White....or any other RB in this draft. It's clear to me that Denver's running game is fine....remember Denver was the 5th rated offense in football last year.

The problem with Denver's offense, IMO, has been the lack of a 2nd reliable possession WR. Back when Denver was winning SBs, the Broncos had a HOF TE, a pair of good WRs....but they could never find that #3 WR. Since those days, Denver has not found a reliable TE, or a possesion #2. Kind of limits the offense, IMO. YET, Denver's running game rarely struggled, even when it was obvious that Plummers open targets were few and far between. So every defense bunched up in the middle and dared Jake to throw....which he did, pretty effectively considering the lack of targets. How Plummer broke the alltime Denver record for passing yards in '04 remains a mystery to me.

So....let's call a spade a shovel. Denver's running game was the best in football last year (more first downs than any team AND 25 scoring plays....more than any other team except Shawn Alexander's Seahawks at 29)......in SPITE of having very few targets for Jake to throw at, and defenses gameplanning to stop Denver's rungame to beat them.

Adding a proven #2 WR like Walker will force defenses to pay more attention to the passing game.....so the running attack will likely improve, even with MA leaving and Dayne taking his place. I suppose the question will be whether Dayne and Bell can mimic the group that Anderson and Bell represented. Judging from Dayne and Bell's gamewinning individual performances last year...the answer is yes. Especially when combined with one more legit WR, and a contract year performance from Lelie.

I was surprised that Denver didn't pick up a running back at all. I think some people were caught up in the fact that he's from Denver and didn't consider whether he was actually a good fit for the team. We didn't need a power back. That's where Dayne comes in...

Javon Walker at #37 i was amazing and he is proven. It is crazy how someguys already "have it" and get passed up (free agency or trade) for a high proced draft pick who hasnt done squat. Seems every team wants The Elways and Landamion Tolmlinsons of the world even with so few out there hit it in the first couple of rounds when you can have a proven starter and good wideout in Walker. Yes he wont be Jerry Rice but who cares. We got him for a #37th pick. How many teams would take Walker in the 2nd round knowing what he can do already in the NFL? I would answer most but when it comes down to it, Shanny and company actually DID IT! Congrats!

Well, muscle weighs more than fat by volume...he might have lost weight by simply losing muscle. We'll see.

2nd round picks do not get 10 mil signing bonuses and 6 year 40 mil contracts (those numbers are not fact but it will be close). Draft picks are a major tool in keeping your Cap in control.
