Bump. The griese choice is probably a little too fun to not select for some.

I voted for loving it. Not just for the picks, but for the aftermath on here. It was nice to have a little football action on the board, Rational and irrational.

I voted for the concern, not for long term or that I think that Cutler will be a bust but for Jake
I have a bad feeling that Jake is not going to respond like Drew Brees did when they brought in Rivers. It seems when things start falling for Jake it just gets worse, he has a hard time pulling out of a bad game/situation, he either plays great or plays crappy, he can't throw 3 picks and still pull out the game. I think he is not going to handle this ticking clock in the back of his head to well, and he was reacting to the fans when things went bad for him before with a back up that was never intended to replace him. His first bad game the fans will be calling for Cutler to go in...we know Jake won't have a second thought to "showing" his appreaction to the fans.

The Cutler choice is genius. Having all the extra picks made this the perfect year to get a quarterback and we got the best one in the Draft. It seems like Steve Young, Jaws, Simms, and just about every other former NFL QB liked Jay more than VY or Leinart.
I was against sending 37 for Walker, but it turned out to the the right move. I knew it was herd mentality ignorance and wishful thinking that projected Hali into round two. I was hoping Davin Joseph, Santonio Holmes or Chad Jackson would be there, though. When they were all gone, Walker seemed like the best available value. I'm especially glad Lelie wasn't included in the deal. I think he has a future with Cutler at the helm in 2007. With Cutler offering no immediate return, getting a plug and play guy like Walker makes even more sense.
Scheffler might have been a small reach. I'm sure we explored possible trade down options here, but found nothing to our liking. It would have been nice to drop a dozen spots and collect another day two pick, but what can you do? We've already swung a half a dozen trades in this draft going back to last year.
Scheff looks like he has a ton of potential. He reminds me a little bit of Jason Witten. His Combine results indicate he's a very athletic guy and his size is a definite plus.
I love this draft so far. One more trade down from 61 would have been the only thing I would change.

You know, at round two Javon Walker as he is now is not all that different from a normal round two receiver: A lot of upside that needs some work, but could be a possible bust. The only difference is that given his previous production, the upside is a little more guaranteed. Regardless, I would rather have Javon over Chad and Holmes.

Came up with the same comparison after looking into the pick. I am very happy we did not go Pope who I believe is going to be a bust. He just does not look athletic enough to take advantage of his size.

I think Pope's so tall, his size is actually a disadvantage.

Well he has no hip swivel. It's like his body control is so poor that the height will give him leverage and balance problems.

I thought the exact same thing when I was watching him on video. He looked very awkward.

Here's the trade down I wanted for 61. Either MInnesota was still pissed that we scooped them for Cutler or we decided Scheffler wouldn't make it to 83.
Vikings Get
2nd round, No. 64: Tarvaris Jackson, QB, Alabama State
Steelers Get
3rd round, No. 83: Anthony Smith, FS, Syracuse
3rd round, No. 95: Willie Reid, WR, Florida State

I voted love it (even though I hated it.)
What the Donks were able to accomplish with trading picks, grabbing positions of need (or future need), and maximizing value should be the book teams go by in the future.
Can you think of a guy you drafted where you said "we could have traded down 15 spots and still nabbed that guy" afterwards?
Didn't think so...

That guy would be great in other offenses but not the Broncos. I saw tape of him and he's stiff as a door. I like Scheffer.

Well now that depends.
If we are talking about how this draft is going to affect our future (meaning, 2009 and beyond), we get a B.
If we are talking about drafting to fill immediate needs, we got a F.
