For those concerned about Cutler's contract, Clayton points out the #10 pick got $13.5M total last year.

notice they say packers were losers for not getting great value for javon. My packer buddy loves javon I think were gonna be scary next year.

6. Claude Wroten, DT, LSU: He was the only position player who failed a drug test at the NFL Scouting combine. Though many thought he had first-round potential, the positive test combined with an offseason arrest caused his stock to drop.
Holy crap, I didn't know that.

Wow...
Clayon, Simms, Jaws, Mortensen and Steve Young are all giving us props.
That list pretty much wraps up my A-list of football talking heads, i've always found myself respecting their takes on just about everything.
I'm feeling very good about Cutler/Walker.

2. San Francisco. Got the great receiving tight end, probably the best pure receiver in the draft, in Vernon Davis, and a high-effort Mike Nolan kind of defensive lineman in John McCargo. The 49ers are a significantly better team today than they were yesterday.

I don't think people realize yet how good of a TE we got. When you're 6-5, weigh 255 and run a 4.5 with hands like he has, that's special. He's still learning the game and could be very special. He was one of the fastest risers in the draft the last month.

I see a lot of Walker up here in Chi-town playing against DUH Bears. He is AWESOME. We got a steal! The man going down Killed Breit Farafrarver last year.

I love Ron Jaworski....so many people I talk to hate him....and I guess he is kind of a spaz...but he gives some of the best breakdown analysis in the business, IMO.
Furthermore, when Jaws and Steve Young say that Cutler was the best QB in the draft....that carries alot more weight with me....they were both QB's.....
So I don't care that Kiper thought Leinart was #1, and that TJ and Irvin thought Vince was #1......BOTTOM LINE.....it sounds like we got a steal getting him with the #11.
Javon Walker....I'm a little nervous about the ACL....but if Greek OK'd him, then I'll trust that.
I just hope we find good value on defense tomorrow......last thought....and good RB's left? I don't think Tater Tot is the guy...and not sure about Dayne either....so do we go RB tomorrow, or defense first?
I think were just shocked that there were some TE's left that were well Known players that have proven game and we passed on those for a guy nobody has ever heard of.

when did we ever draft a t.e. so high? i was hoping we would trade down and get a couple of third's and build depth on o-line and take a risk on d-line.
i was a bit disappointed that shanahan made a press conference immediately after the second round pick. it almost looked like we were ignoring whole third round. i know we didn't have a pick, but i thought the strength of this draft was at third round. what's up with that.

Walker could be a beast if he recovers from his very sever knee injury. Has anyone heard about his progress recovering from that knee injury. Don't get me wrong, I think he could be a real difference maker for us if he's healthy, but I have heard that it usually takes 2 years to fully recover from that kind of injury.

Assuming no complications, one year at the outside.

I saw that, though it's hardly surprising since Mayock has a man-crush on him. I agree that our boys did good this time. :pimp:

There's no doubt about whether we had a great day one. I guarantee Mike and Co. had Cutler #1 on their board, and with where we usually draft it was an easy choice to only have to go up 4 spots to get a franchise QBOTF. Getting Walker for one pick was another great move, and easy decision.
Here's to hoping that Day 2 bears as much fruit.

Nope, a lot of good players, especially on the lines, have slid to the 4th round.
Personally my only complaint is trading for Walker when Lendale was on the board, but Shanny probably sees it as Cutler is the future, Walker is the now, and Lendale brings his own baggage. I would have liked to try making a positioning move with 37 or 61 that would have given us more picks but still landed Walker and Scheffler, but then, you can only get so fancy on draft day if you want your targetted players.

As soon as we landed Cutler I was stoked on this draft. He was the only QB I wanted. When Buffalo was on the clock and they said Denver may trade up here for Leinart I was all set to be pissed. Then when I saw Cutler pick up the phone after Denver traded with STL my emotions did a 180.
This guy is going to be something very special. Just think if Shanny can get Griese and Plummer to play at a probowl level what he will get a guy that has this kind of skill sets to do. Outside of the strong arm and nice mobility, he has been touted to have the best pocket presence (ability to feel the rush and know when to tuck the ball away) and great leadership.
This is not a shot at Jake, who has really maximized his abilities, but he will be 33-34 wehn Cutler hits the scene and I would really not like to see another situation where we are scraping the FA pile looking for his replacement.

I'm loving this draft. Last season, Denver takes multiple players to upgrade an important position, and this season Denver makes one of the best WR's in the game a Bronco and drafts a top-flight QB prospect to take the reigns from my man Jake.
Jay Cutler would have been selected before Alex Smith. Unbelievable value, great prospect.
I'm stoked.

From what I keep hearing, the broncos think Cobb can be a feature rb in this league. They had him rated as a 2nd round talent. He could be the wild card.

Some seem to forget guys we took a year or two ago if they do not make an instant impact. We have a few guys that we have been bringing along that have the potential to make an impact this year.

Well, guess Leinart will have to prove his worth after all when he gets to start. No easy cash in like he could of had last year. lmao

Shanny picks a qb in round 1 ...............that in itself is odd ........Not to sure about all this who had the best draft talk though , I would think it who had the best draft depends on how many of the players pan out .........Last years draft was huge with Dwill and fox ........

Leinart fell into a dream situation. He has great skill position guys all around him and Vegas is a 45 min flight away so he can hang out with his celeb friends :D

As far as talent around him yea, he's got some weapons. But from a Financial standpoint he didnt make out like he would have a year before. But, if he wants to stay close to family than yea he went to a great place. Hopefully Denny can get that franchise turned around.

I don't think people realize what really happened. Jake Plummer picked up a pro bowl WR to augment two starting WR. He picked up a TE that is projected to start. Everyone getting mad at Shanahan because they think Jake got sold out needs to stop buying into the media. Jake recieved TWO new offensive weapons and will probably get another one on day two. IF Jake is the QB he is supposed to be than the Broncos are giving him what he needs to win. Jake needs to use the media to his advantage and stay focused. If this kid eventually beats Jake out of a job which will happen if he's as good as his press then my hope is Jake stays with the Broncos as a backup QB for a year or two. That would make the Broncos solid under center for years. Is that reasonable? Maybe not. It really depends on Jake.
Mike Shanahan did what was best for the franchise. He didn't bring in some doofus in the first round but a legitimate starting QB that doesn't come around every year. Whose coming in next's years draft? If the Broncos do well, like they always do, they might not get another shot like this. This was a must take deal. I don't feel sorry for Jake. He has got us in the playoffs every year. All he has to do is carry this team one more time and he can finish his career wherever he wants to at that point. I am hoping that Jake plays lights out next year so that Cutler can have time to season. I
I'm sure Jake is saying to himself "This sucks" and he's ranting privately but he's got to find that next level in order to get respected in the NFL. He made his supporters and fans look stupid. He made some very stupid sports journalists appear to be almost worth the 900# billing. He has to stop having an explaination or worst people apologize for him. Jake needs to get it done.
When you get the kind of disrespect that Jake suffered last year Shanahan isn't cutting ties but he has a reputation to maintain and part of that is keeping his word to the fans, his franchise and his own perpetuity. If he didn't get Cutler he would have been hanging his own fate on Jakes health, mental attitude, and off season training and that, from a business standpoint, is just stupid. This is a good move for Jake, the franchise and the fan base.

As soon as I heard on ESPN radio we had traded up I knew it was Cutler. Then when I heard we traded our 37th pick I immediately new it was Javon. Wish we had got a fourth in return but all well.

That was my thought, too. A high second was too much and Denver should have received a low 3rd or fourth back in the exchange. I can't believe that GB thought they could get TWO second round picks for damaged goods. Man were they reaching!
