Over Leinart?

They have two great corners and a great safety.

I'm just throwing out ideas, I'm not sold on a qb for them.

Cutler does not consistently stride into throws, often either throwing with legs on the same yardline or just becoming an arm thrower with bad technique. When he does not stride into the pass and tries to put zip on the throw, his passes tend to zip and dip right before they get to the receiver. He does not consistently sense/feel backside pressure coming and it leads to him taking some hits he shouldn't. Because Vanderbilt was almost always the worse team, Cutler developed some bad habits of trying to force some passes into tight coverage, leading to interceptions. Due to the reasons listed above, Cutler has struggled to consistently convert key/important downs into first downs.

* substitute Plummer for Cutler and we have the answer at #15 *

Sundquist has gone on record saying that if Cutler was to fall to the Broncos at this spot, they would seriously consider taking him... Combine that with the information that I've gotten late in the day Friday that the Broncos are looking at offense, including QB... I have a hard time believing we'd leave the so-called "Next Brett Favre" on the board at this spot.

I agree. My Mercedes Lewis post was to get more names out there because I thought the majority here would go with Cutler. Cutler is practically a "no brainer" in this circumstance.

I'll be sick if they end up with Greenway. He's a kid that gets football. Reminds me of Zach Thomas in that way. I hope they don't take him... I think Holmes is more likely.

Tye Hill NO WAY!

Hill is a short cornerback at barely over 5-9, and will have trouble handling big NFL receivers. He does not straight backpedal, but rather side-pedals and it leads to him getting turned around too often. Additionally, in off coverage he allows the receiver to close the cushion too quickly before he flips his hips and ends up losing a step because of it. He does not bend his knees and breakdown and tackle well consistently

According to *my* draft expert, he's the best man-to-man cover DB in the draft this year. Cromartie is too raw and Williams is a CB/S tweener. He's the next Deangelo Hall or Dunta Robinson.

The most obvious need to me is at the linebacker position. The addition of Ben Leber was nice, but the current situation at the position is bleak. Simply put, there are not enough guys on the roster to find your starters from. Leber appears the most likely to get a starting job, and E.J. <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Henderson has done moderately well, but should the Vikings spend their first rounder on a linebacker, that player is every bit as likely to earn a starting job as the aforementioned players. The blue-chipper here is A.J. Hawk out of Ohio State, and unfortunately he appears very likely to go to the Packers unless D'Brickashaw Ferguson slips, but our team still has the potential to land one of the next couple of best. My next choice is Ernie Sims out of Florida State, but he may be gone already, too. Another guy who the team will be looking at, and is likely to still be around is Chad Greenway out of Iowa. Linebacker is one of the positions where a top level talent can make the game all-the-more interesting for the fans. The position is one that generally has a smaller percentage of the thought-to-be sure-things fail. With the team looking to install a more quick and athletic defense it all starts here. Lawson probably has this figured out by now -- he scored a remarkable 43 on the Wonderlic test that measures a person's intelligence. But it was not just Lawson's Wonderlic that stood out. So do some of his other numbers:

Lawson is 6-foot-6, 249 pounds. He runs the 40 in 4.41 seconds. He bench pressed 225 pounds 25 times. He vertical jumped 39 ½ inches. He long jumped 10.6 feet. Lawson is an engineering major, captain of his football team, ran track at North Carolina State and never has been injured.

I don't think they'll pick a QB at 4 anyways. They might try to get someone in the later rounds.

Chad Pennington has been injured the last two seasons, Fiedler is marginal at best and coming of injury as well....Brooks Bollinger isn't the answer....and Vinny probably is moving into the Shady Oaks Retirement home.

Still think they won't look hard at a QB?
