Thanks. It might just be a goiter, or something else altogether, since she has has thyroid problems for years. Tests next week. But stuff like this is always scary.

you are in my prayers OD
as you may or may not know, I have hyperthyroidism, so I know about thyroid problems
I also looked into thyroid cancer and it seems to be really treatable from what I read, like a very low occurence of mortality.

Thanks again. The tests right now are just precautionary. I did find some stuff on thyroid goiter, and that sure matches up with her symptoms. Looks like cancer is sometimes associated with it, but rarely, so we'll just have to wait & see what the tests show.

I got myself a toxic goiter ;)
they can be cancerous, sometimes if they are unusual they'll stick a needle in some of the hot spots and do a little biopsy, just to make sure.
Luckily for me, my goiter didn't get too big before I got it under control, now I don't have a goiter anymore, which is good, b/c I can't imagine a damn lump in your throat all the time, it was getting hard to swallow food for awhile there last year...LOL
anyway, I guarantee nothing is wrong with your wife OD ;) Other than a goiter and that is treatable

Some reading material.
http://www.endocrineweb.com/thyroidca.html
Most thyroid cancers are very curable. In fact, the most common types of thyroid cancer (papillary and follicular) are the most curable. In younger patients, both papillary and follicular cancers can be expected to have better than 97% cure rate if treated appropriately.

Has she had a biopsy? The prognosis really depends on the type of cancer... if it is a cancer. Most thyroid lesions are benign. Ask me anything.... I do thyroid surgery frequently...

Keep us posted.
My wife just went thru the same thing. Hers turned out not to be cancer, just some sort of lumps on it, and it is under active (whatever the right term is for that).
Best of luck to her.

Hodkins is a lymphoma...
There is a great site on the net that explains just about every cancer known. It has a patient info side, and a physician info side. I read it all of the time, to keep up with the current treatment guidelines. Cancer treatment, depending on the cell type, seems to change from month to month.

Good news, I think ...
The CAT scan showed a slight swelling, but they think it's just a run-of-the-mill infection. Which baffles me a little, because she just finished a round of antibiotics for a sinus infection. She's still feeling very constricted, so I don't know what to think.

Good to hear my man. Anti-biotics work in different ways, and doctors use different to tackle different problems. That could be why she could have an infection just after a sinus infection.
Very glad to hear it was nothing serious OD. Thank God!
