Chad Jackson.
I am getting sick and tired of them pushing this Florida reciever off on us. Every mock seems to do it so they can pander for their own favorites. Denver isn't going to take Jackson, bank it. This triple trade fiasco falls thru, we will take Holmes or someone else.
I would be very very surprised if that happened. I said that Little Ricky and Jimmy the Joint would go away so what do ya know, Saban tried to ship him before it all fell apart. Might as well trade for the Whizzinator who is a total free agent.
Every mock seems to have us taking Jackson and it's totally absurd. Funny how these pundits don't hardly mention the huge movement about to possibly happen. Everyone gives us Jackson and he doesn't fit any better than Marcus Nash or CrimeDog McGriff or whatever he was called. Both went to the AFL. Santonio Holmes will be the better pick if we go with WR.
Big Hair seems very much unsure this year. Hodge is a certified moron. Mocksters having us taking Wimpley with 15 are equally idiotic.
My lines are busy...Brett Favre is on the line...BBL...

Well I wouldn't say every time. There have been some good first round receivers. I would say it's a bad idea this time, though.

Denver picking ANY WR....in the first day of picks...is a gamble. The "system" seems to be unlearnable. Better to pick up WRs off the FA pile who are not named Kennison.
cromartie is gonna be good...whether or not we have a need at cb at all is debateable...we were looking solidified last year, but a few injuries thinned us out pretty good late in teh year so i dont think it would be a complete waste to pick up another cb, especially one of such great value as cromartie

Just the mere mention of Travis McGriff, a third-round steal from the 1999 Draft, makes me want to grab several cold ones and just chug till I pass out.

again, just so we are clear, in order of REACHING preference:
SanTonio Holmes WR
Laurence Maroney RB
Manny Lawson DE/OLB
Excited? Me neither, how anti climatic! Enjoy the draft!

I think those are three of our top five, Shanny always goes top 4 or 5's. Other two:
Brod Bunkley, Tommi Harris type DT. We wanted him and were picking at 15.
Jay Cutler, a QB might slide, he's the most likely, but if it was any of them I bet we take him.
And in order it'd be Bunkley, QB, Lawson, Holmes, Maroney. We'll get Holmes, the draft never pans out well for us. All three QBs will go when someone trades up for Cutler, Bunkley is gone early and Lawson is the surprise pick in the draft. We all go home sad, knowing we overpicked a WR, but can take mild consolation in the fact that he actually fits a system. A first for a Shanny WR draft pick I would say.

The mere fact that the media is predicting Jackson guarantees we WON'T be taking Jackson...

Well there is very little or no difference between Jackson and Holmes Rating wise. Jackson is 1-A and Holmes is 1-B. It wouldn't suprise me either way.

If we absolutely HAVE to choose between Jackson and Holmes, I'll take the speedier Jackson...

I would be content with any of those three picks BUT I don't see Denver grabbing a RB at 15.

I am totally against trading down. I don't think we have room for any more players.
The only reason I say this is because I would rather trade down then draft a wideout in the first round.

Im begining to come around for him now. After watching the SR. Bowl again and mostly just focusing on the Def. he realy beat D. Ferguson pretty badly several times. And if he is beating the #1 OT in this draft the way he was then yea i want him. Plus i think his frame can hold abit more weight. He also was a pretty good part on why Cutler didnt have a real good game because on about every snap he was in his face and was making him rush his throws. I was a big DeAngelo backer (and still realy like him cause he made people look like fools at the Sr. Bowl also) but now I want Lawson a 15.

Looks like the so-called "pundits" are pushing Jackson on us the same way they pushed Miller on us last year. For historical irony, I think it would be only too appropriate for us to select Holmes at 15 and then for Jackson to go at 16.

I heard some pretty surprising statistics yesterday to support wide receivers not being a first round impact position. Since 1966 out of the 121 WOs taken in the first round - 7 have produced 1,000 yd seasons as a rookie. About a 5% chance of finding a receiver in the first round that will help the franchise that year.
I think they said the last two were Randy Moss and Michael Clayton (I thought Anquan Boldin might've been in there but guess not).
As someone mentioned there is the adjustment of learning the pro playbook but the main thing is, it's a dependant position. A WO can have all the talent in the world but if the guy holding the football doesn't deliver it to him then he won't be making many highlight reels.

Boldin was a 2nd rounder so he didn't figure in those stats I guess.
I still shake my head when I realize he slipped that far because of his suspect 40 times but if you watch the kid play (especially in his rookie year) he was nothing but born to play this game.
Jackson is joke. He may be a decent WR in three years but we need production now and because we've sucked at drafting for WR we're going to have to pay through the nose now (Walker, VD) or risk falling from the AFC ladder it took years to climb.

I can't think of one WR that been the best in the game that was drafted in the 1st round except for Moss.

Then you're not thinking hard enough.
Tory Holt, David Boston, Marvin Harrison, Meyshawn, Herman Moore, Tim Brown, Michael Irvin, Andre Bad Moon Rison, I'm sure I'm forgetting someone. . .
oh yeah, Jerry Freakin' Rice.
