View Full Version : Three-way trade rumor Raiders/Jets/Saints
The three-way trade rumor has come out of New York. It goes like this: The Saints and Jets would swap positions, allowing New Orleans to select Mario Williams at No. 4. The Jets would then trade the No. 2 pick to the Raiders in exchange for the seventh selection, wide receiver Jerry Porter and additional picks, likely future choices. That move would allow the Raiders to pick either Matt Leinart or Vince Young. Meanwhile, the Jets would draft offensive lineman D'Brickashaw Ferguson at No. 7, if the Packers haven't grabbed him at No. 5, then trade Ferguson's rights to the Saints.

I'd like to see this trade go down... with Houston taking Mario Williams at the last minute. All hell would break loose.. probably unwind the fabric of the space-time continum.

I still find it ridiculous that the Saints would be interested in drafting Mario when they have much bigger holes to fill.

I personally think its a smoke screen. I have them targeting D'brickashaw Ferguson in my mock draft, I just can't see them getting a DE with Charles Grant, and Will Smith already. They are just letting out they want Mario so someone will trade up and they can pick D'brick later.

So are you saying that Saints would draft Mario Williams and then get the rights to D'Brickashaw Ferguson from the Jets as well?
What are the Jets going to get from the Saints?
I don't see this happening, maybe the Raiders moving up with someone.

New York
Some kind of compensation from the Saints
Jerry Porter
additional picks, and likely future choices from Raiders
Oakland
2nd pick - Matt Leinart or Vince Young
Saints
4th pick - Mario Williams
7th pick - D'Brickashaw Ferguson
This is what I gathered from that

They also have Gabriel tho right? He's stepped up a bit - maybe not as respectable as Porter but not someone to overlook either.
I would worry about them getting Young tho - that really is a scary thought. The guy is a player - wonderlic or not.

That would be great. The Faiders trade the best WR they got and draft a project for a QB.

Wonder if the raiders are moving up to take AJ HAWK because the packers would select him. If thats the case then I expect Denvers phone to ring and Packers will accept our offer (Deal number one as stated in another thread). We WILL draft VD.;D

Saints want Hawk and can not go further down than #4 because GB seems like they will take Hawk.
Jets want Ngata, because they need a NT for their 3-4 but #4 is too high.
Fade want Leinart but need to get ahead of Tenn to get him. Greasy AL wants a face to market and Leinart wants to stay in Cali.
This would put VY in Tenn and Williams at #5...Cmon GB give us the #5 pick dammit!!

Because this is an internet rumor that it now appears is being reported as legit in the print press.
I guess Williamson isn't the only one who surfs online forums for something to write about.
It's actually a good thing that the author didn't say what was being given up, because it would let everyone know what team's forum in came from.
IIRC, the Jets would only give up a 4th to move to #2, but then recieve Oakland's 2nd and another pick along with Porter to move back down to #7. It was so over-the-top lopsided in the Jets favor that it just couldn't be taken seriously.

Personally, both trades in the GB thread seem way more realistic, and even those are BS.
I can't wait til this weekend, though. This trade probably won't happen, but something like it is going to go down.

That is not out of the question. I have been reading a lot about how Bush is going to want a truckload of money and if Williams excepts their offer they'll sign him before the draft. I can see this happening.
If I was Houston and I decided not to take Bush because of money than I would not select Williams either. I would trade down and get some really good picks. They have plenty of holes to fill and they could possibly trade down to S.F. or the faiders and get some really good picks in return.

Getting rid of their most consistent WR would be great Atlas and at least we'd have a year or two repreive as Young got his NFL sea legs under him, but I would be a bit nervous about having him in our division for the next 17 years.
The one saving grace, if they do get Young, is that Al Davis wont be able to resist throwing him to the wolves this year as soon as they lose their first two back to back games and Vince will have an even rougher time than Elway did in 83.
The other ameliorating factor of seeing Vince Young with the Raiders is that as long as Greasy Al is calling the shots he's sure to undermine the rest of the team every couple of years and prevent Young from reaching his true potential. Problem is Al is getting really old and is not likley to stay in charge too much longer and we might wind up with a more sensible owner we have to compete with.
I would much rather see Young with the Titans though, any day.

A running QB won't last 17 years, he'd have to become a pocket passer eventually.

Why would you much rather see the Raiders draft the far superior player?
Because IMO, he ain't. Let the Faders spend 3 years trying to wash that shotgun/option out of VY's head. If they get Leinart, he takes out Brooks by game 5, and he's managing that offense on the field by game 10. Far more dangerous. Whatever team takes VY, expect to see him doing lots of running and taking lots of hits. He's going to turn into Roger Rabbit in the NFL.

Word down here is that the powers that be in the Texans camp are torn between the two (Bush and Mario Williams). Most of the fans want Bush because they are clearly moronic imbeciles that do not understand the game is won in the trenches, not in the backfield.

The most likely scenario is for the Raiders to stand pat at #7 but, if a trade like this happens we won't take a QB. San Francisco screwed us with the coin flip and with the trade with denver in round 2... We're moving up to take Vernon Davis if this scenario takes shape. Then we can take Bing in the second as planned!
In order for us to run the offense that Al likes we gotta have a TE that can beat people down the seam... This is Al Davis folks... 4.3 40... Speed Kills... = Al Davis!

Bush is on his way to Houston and will sign Thursday or Friday. The Texans can't afford an official draft party where 1000s of burnt orange jersies show up ready to riot if Young isn't called. They have to get Bush signed before Saturday and it looks like the framework of a deal has already been done.
As for the three-way deal, this sounds close to what "Bongo" was saying on a Jets board last week. I posted a thread about it here.
I don't see how the Saints come out of it with *both* Williams and Ferguson. The deal I had was to exchange Williams and Ferguson so the Saints could pay Brick #7 money and the Jets could pay Mario #4 money. The trick is getting the Titans, Packers and 49ers to agree not to draft those players when their turn arrives.
As for who should QB in Oakland, I'd rather see the Raiders have Leinart at QB than Young. I haven't seen anyone yet deny Vince what he sets out to do on a football field. I don't want to have to face that twice a year for the next dozen years.

This sounds like a hoax. Would you trust a "Nancy Gay" at the San Francisco Chronicle to give you the inside scoop on the Raiders?? Me neither.

FWIW. On the all-NFL access channel last night, they reported that the Texans had been in negotiations with both Bush and Williams, wanting to sign their guy before the draft started. There was supposedly a big breakthrough, contract-wise, with Bush. They interviewed Williams afterwards, and he seemed pretty certain that he would not be going to Houston.

Gallery looked fine in 04. Last year that Jim Colletto dude single handedly sabatoged our offensive line with his zone blocking scheme.

Slater was the man there... I know this... our offensive line is going to be physical with Shell and Slater giving orders. We might not jell until 4 or 5 games in, but I'm looking forward to the running game this year.
