Posted on another site by Blitzing Dog who only occassionally posts here:
I chat with Central Florida WR Brandon Marshall on the phone once in awhile and I know a lot around here like him so I thought I would pass along what he told me. He said he flew out to Denver for a visit and they really hit it off. Also said Buffalo told him they would take him rd 3 but didnt expect him to be there (that means nothing he even said that himself)

I really like this guy, he looks like a WR that belong in WC system.

#68 wouldn't be a bad spot for a receiver. Jennings, Hass, Nance, or Marshall would be solid picks in my book.
I'd like Stovall at 61, Marshall at 68.
Surround it with say, Manny Lawson at 15, Davin Joseph at 37, hit TE in the 4th with Scheffler or Daniels, and then use the remaining four picks (2 4ths, 5th, and 6th) on BPAs, including a RB and a LB (ideally Riggs Jr. and Nande).

Man, you've really come around to my line of thinking Drek. Run a search. I'm pretty sure I had a personal mock here recently that included Lawson, Joseph, Stovall, and Riggs!

IMHO, Brandon Marshall has 1st round talent. If the Broncos took Brandon and Hass I would name a child after them.

I wouldnt mind a WR pick after the second at all.

I wouldn't mind having a Golden Knight on our team.

I wouldn't take a WR until pick 61. From there on out its open season. If Stovall is there he's first off the board, after that Marshall, then probably Hagan. I like Hass, but not at 61 or 68 (same with Hagan). If we can trade back 68 a little ways then both Hass and Hagan become much better options as late 3rds.
This draft has a lot of late round WR depth. No one really projects to be a #1 WR (no matter what the "gurus" say about Jackson and Holmes), but a lot of quality #2s could emerge from the middle rounds of this draft.

interesting information. thanks. since this is kinda on the WR/DE debate, here is a very interesting article which makes me think about us taking manny lawson at 15, not sure.

Brandon Hass? If your name is Smith, you've got a problem with hero worship, good buddy.

What is the thing about Lawson? The guy is small. Should be a linebcker in a 3-4 system. Doesn't fit what the Broncos need. Hali or Kiwi, who are bigger, would be more appropriate, I would think.
We have to get out the chickens on Friday night and have a "Bunkley falls" sacrifice session. A little voodoo wouldn't hurt.

for what it's worth, Gil Brandt over on nfl.com thinks Lawson's best fit is in the 4-3, and he's likely to fill out to 260 or so. If he's there at 15, shanny should do the deed. Keep Lelie. Of course, GB's pick changes a lot.

Bring him in!
He could end up being a GREAT pick.

If Lawson can truly fill out to 260, then the Broncos definately have to consider him. But one has to think if he's still there at #15, not many think he can fill out.
I don't want the Broncos keeping Lelie. He's even sacrificing money to not work out with the rest of the team. He's done, get him out of here.

He didn't say 260, exactly. Guy looks like an expensive Barry/Hayweird. But how many of his sacks came for Mario crashing the other side ... ?
2. Manny Lawson, N.C. State (6-5 3/8, 241, 4.45)
Lawson had a complete workout at the Combine. He ran his two 40s in 4.43 and 4.46 and recorded a 39½-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-4 long jump, a 4.18 short shuttle, a 6.90 three-cone drill and 23 bench presses. He played defensive end and running back in high school, and qualified for the State track meet in four different events. He played as a true freshman in 2002 and led the nation with three blocked punts. He also competed on the track team in the spring. He started three games in 2003 and won the ACC long jump in track competition with a 24-foot-3½ jump. Last season, he started 11 games at defensive end and had 10½ sacks. Lawson has great athletic ability with above-average toughness. He has very good pass-rush ability and very good quickness. He lacks bulk, but he should be able to put some on. He will be 22 years old in July. I think his best position is defensive end, but he most likely can play outside linebacker and can also be a very good special teams player.

I'd also be happy with Wimbley at 15.
Lawson isn't much smaller, if any, than Taylor or Kearse where when they came into the league. He's a lanky 6'5", he coudl easily put on another 15-20 pounds and play DE around 260 within two seasons of being drafted. Until then, he's a monsterous pass rushing specialist/special teamer.
Personally I think Lawson should be moved back to linebacker where he used to play, even in a 4-3. He's got decent ball skills and amazing speed, agility, and strength. He would be a dominant strong side linebacker.

Between Lawson and Wimbley I go with Lawson. Wimbley is a outside backer in this league, I don't think that he will be effective with his hand on the ground in the NFL. Just lack the body to put on weight.

If Lawson and Wimbley are not seen as DE, then they should only go to teams that employ the 3-4 so they can be rush OLB's. I don't see the sense in a team drafting them with a 4-3 to play OLB and spending most of the game covering and chasing TE's and RB's or dropping back into coverage and rush the QB only once in awhile. They are pass rushers, whether it be at DE or OLB.

I am not convinced that Lawson in two years is going to help this year, whereas (absent Bunkley, mind you) Hali or Kiwi or that player from Alabama - Anderson? - or even Wroten might be more ready when the TC starts. In two years he might be Joey Porter, but it took Joey Porter several years and a slug in the butt to get there.
Need I say that I am in dire need of instant gratification when it comes to this stupid draft that is taking sooooo many years to get here......

I like Marshall and Jennings.
Get DeAngelo or Maroney at 15, jennings at 37, tapp at 68 and marshall in the 3rd.

IMO, i say lawson at 15 if CJ is taken but i believe CJ is the better pick at 15 unless they really really love lawson. i love lawson but was hoping for him at 22 so that wont happen now. and whoever sed that if hes at 15, hes not a good value...he was a second round pick after the season and has rocketed up so its not like he is falling. he has great upside and if other teams pass someone up does that mean they suck? i dont see that logic. u kno all the late round picks passed up by other teams

Well, I disagree with Wimbley not being able to put on weight. He came to FSU at 210 and put on 10lbs a year. Two more years of that and he is playing at 273. Unsure about Lawson, but I bet he can add it too.
Still much rather have Mark Anderson who already plays the run better than either of these guys AND still gets to the QB. He also will fill out 15 more lbs and be around 270 on the RDE.

C. Brown was one of the best DEs coming out of college. He added 20 pound after joining the NFL and you can see how well that has helped him out.

I prefer Anderson too - in the 3rd or the 4th if we are lucky.
This is some of the ESPN report on him Wimbley- I not try get the site in trouble-
"Was an underachiever throughout much of his first three seasons and injury set him back during his breakout season as a senior in 2005. He is undersized. Cannot hold up as a traditional DE in a 4-3 at his size. Must add bulk and strength. As it stands right now, he looks to be a situational edge rusher or 3-4 linebacker-type in the NFL. He plays with a narrow base and gets washed out too easily by bigger OT's that get into his pads"
