Too funny. What, did they suspend him from sitting on the bench?

Nuggets' Martin suspended indefinitely

DENVER -- The Denver Nuggets will be without star forward Kenyon Martin for Game 3 of their first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Clippers after the team suspended him indefinitely Tuesday for what the team calls "conduct detrimental to the team."

Team spokeswoman Teri Washington said additional details will not be released.

"This is an internal matter that we will deal with in-house," coach George Karl said in a statement.

Denver trails the Los Angeles Clippers 2-0 in the series.

Biggest waste of money probably in franchise history. We gave up a boatload to get him and all we got was a bad knee.

I wish we could have pulled the trigger and got him and Nene out of town for somebody like Ray Allen. Unfortunately we couldn't find anybody that stupid.

The season's over because Carmelo's back has finally given out due to carrying the team on it for 82 games.

Nah.. it was over when Nene got hurt. The Nuggets are really missing a big physical presence inside. The Clippers are really pushing them around..

The gimpy whiner wasn't helping, and was way too much of a distraction.
The sooner he's out of here the better.
There is no I in team - especially a 12 man roster.

I wonder if Kiki is out of here too? If he goes to New York, we will miss our opportunity to trade Martin there... :-)

True. Maybe this team can find a guy in the offseason that can SHOOT beyond 15 ft.

Well, Kenyon Martin seemed pretty adequate in New Jersey, but I think he lost most of his motivation and confidence after leaving his long time alley oop partner Jason Kidd. He has the physical toughness inside the low post though, and the Nuggets seem to have been using him on Elton Brand. KMart doesn't seem like he'd do anything of this type, so I'm hoping it's not that bad. The word "indefinitely" is pretty harsh though.

This is interesting. I wonder what the real story is.

"I will talk to him and see what's happening," Karl said Tuesday afternoon. "He told me and the staff at halftime that he couldn't go. Now, there's stuff filtering out that there's frustration there. We'll see."

This is basically all of the problems of the entire season coming to a head.

I heard Karl's comments from earlier today about Kenyon. He made a comment about him not practicing and how can he expect to get minutes when he doesn't practice with the team. Reading between the lines on that one, it tells me that Karl believes that Kenyon uses his knee as an excuse not to practice, but still wants to be a starter. Karl apparently isn't going to reward him for showing up to work when he feels like it.

The thing is, they let this **** go on all season long. By that I mean both Karl and Kiki. They let him basically do whatever the hell he wanted, whenever the hell he wanted all year. He practiced when he wanted to, he played when he wanted to and the coaching staff often didn't know until an hour and a half before game time whether he'd be in the lineup or not.

What happened in game 2 is that Kenyon got pissed about coming off the bench again and quit on the team at halftime. His knee was once again his convenient excuse, but it appears as though no one's buying it this time. Now he's been suspended and I can only hope that it's for the rest of the season.......which will hopefully be his last in a Nuggets uniform.

The Nuggets first priority of this offseason has to be to see if there's any way to get rid of this piece of **** and his ridiculous contract. I was begging them to dump him on the Knicks for Penny Hardaway's expiring contract, but Kiki let that ship sail. Now the Nuggets may be stuck and out of luck with Kenyon.

I like this move though, just get him out of there. No need to let him be a distraction. Let him sit at home and watch the game instead of sitting in his customary spot on the bench.

I'm sure Kenyon's loving it.

Christ, to unload his sorry ass they'll probably have to take on another loser like Marbury or Francis. Somebody shoot me.

Kenyon and the person who brought him to Denver by giving him that fvcking huge contract and pissing away how many 1st rd picks should be out of town in a few weeks.

See, this is why the Nets had no problems dealing him. His leg hasn't been the same since he broke it in college, never had the same vertical or defensive quickness.

J Kidd has made a lot of guys look better than they are, its not unlike what happened with Antonio McDyess.

When the Nugz brought KMart in, that's about the time I started wondering if Kiki was doing the right thing for the team.

anyhow, I watched game two and the team looked like crap. Nobody on the team can shoot. Besides that, Carmello looked really, really bad. Really bad.

I've never gotten what the big deal is about Kenyon Martin. He's supposed to be a power forward. I associate the word "power" with somebody who can get more than 5 or 6 rebounds on a nightly basis. The same goes for Nene. Here's a 6'11", 265 pound guy with an NBA body who is a mediocre rebounder. Those who remember Fat Lever pulling off double digit rebound numbers at 6'3" for the Nuggs ought to be disgusted with these guys.

Hopefully we can ship this loser to some other sucker in the next year so we can begin the process of recovery. I think a bit of the luster has rubbed off Kiki's reputation. He should be on the clock by now as well.

In the wake of Martin's actions, two prominent Nuggets players, who agreed to talk on the condition of anonymity, said they had lost faith in the power forward as a teammate.

why is anyone even remotely surprised, this is a team in complete and total disarray. George Karl is not respected by his players, and for too long he has let these guys run free and trying to lay down the law at this point in the season is far to late. Its time to fire Kiki, and George, blow up the roster and rebuild with players who have heart! Worthless Nuggetts, overpaid and overhyped and outworked by other teams!

Slap, while I agree with you in principal, I also think that guaranteed contracts aren't the villain here. I mean look at both the NFL and NBA, who are the players that pull this crap? The top guys. In either league, it's never the players making the minimum.

Sure, in the NBA, we can't cut K-Mart like we could cut TO in the NFL, but guaranteed contracts aren't the issue. It's the top talent knowing they can do whatever they want.

I'd bet my house that Marcus Camby was one of the two who said that.

Mark Spears was on the radio this morning and said that one of the Nuggets, when asked by Spears about Kenyon, said "F*** Him". I am guessing that there are few Nuggs, outside of the two bearcats on the team that, that are bummed to see him suspended. I my mind it's a decision that should have happened long ago.

Edit...it should read guys that are getting paid as if they were top talent. K-Mart is no where near top talent, just happens that he's getting paid like he is.

Maybe it's just me, but Camby and Elson seem to play well together. They tend not to get in each others way when going after boards. Kenyon does not get in Camby's way, because he does not rebound, but Evans seems to routinely get in Camby's way and vice versa.

Do you all realize that Evans, Elson and Nene are FAs, and Kenyon has probably played his last game as a Nugget? The frontline for next year could be drastically different.
