So, I did some looking about past #15 picks and it's a less than overwhelming list. Don't get me wrong, there are some decent players, but none that could be considered an All Pro, much less a HOFer. I have also listed either the best player at the same position that was passed over, a HOF type player or a notable All Pro type player.

1982 Lions Jimmy Williams OLB NU (#41 Andre Tippet)
1983 Patriots Tony Eason QB Illinois (#27 Dan Marino)
1984 Jets Ron Faurot DE Arkansas. (#51 Sean Jones)
1985 Chiefs Ethan Horton TE UNC (#16 big whoops, Jerry Rice)
1986 Seahawks John L Williams RB Fla (#76 John Taylor)
1987 Raiders John Clay OT Mizzou (#23 Bruce Armstrong)
1988 Chargers Anthony Miller WR Tenn (#40 Thurman Thomas)
1989 Seahawks Andy Heck OT ND (#20 Steve Atwater)
1990 Oilers Lamar Lathon OLB Houston (#17 Emmitt Smith)
1991 Steelers Huey Richardson OLB Fla (#33 Brett Favre)
1992 Jets Johnny Mitchell TE NU (#157 Mark Chmura)
1993 Packers Wayne Simmons OLB Clemson (#40 Michael Strahan)
1994 Rams Wayne Gandy OT Auburn (#40 Kevin Mawae)
1995 Colts Ellis Johnson DT Fla (#28 Derrick Brooks)
1996 Broncos John Mobley OLB Kutztown (#19 Marvin Harrison)
1997 Dolphins Yatil Green WR Miami (#36 Tiki Barber)
1998 Seahawks Anthony Simons OLB Clemson (#21 Randy Moss)
1999 Bucs Anthony McFarland DT LSU (#32 Al Wilson)
2000 Broncos Deltha O'Neal DB Cal (#19 Shaun Alexander)
2001 Redskins Rod Gardener WR Clemson (#16 Santana Moss, #17 Steve Hutchinson, #30 Reggie Wayne, #32 Todd Heap)
2002 Titans Albert Haynesworth DT Tenn (#24 Ed Reed)
2003 Eagles Jerome McDougle DE Miami (#16 Troy Paulumalu)
2004 Bucs Michael Clayton WR LSU (Hard to pick some one at this point)
2005 Chiefs Derrick Johnson OLB UT (#45 Lufa Tatupu)

So maybe trading out of this spot, up or down, is the way to go.

Dammit Master. don't you read this board? The Broncos are the only team to ever make mistakes in the draft :)

Ya, true, the broncos are the only teams to have whiffed on a guy. I wonder how the Chiefs feel about the 1985 draft? Ethan Horton? And just behind him some dude named Rice.

When I did this I was looking back the drafts between 86-88, and there just was not much talent coming into the league, the the 1989 draft had like, 4-5 HOFers in the top ten. Crazy.

Im glad we got Mobley at the time, instead of harrison. yeah I know Harrison is a great wr and all, but Moble was great for us, knocked down brett favres pass on fourth down in the sb and that sealed the game, So, thank God we got Mobely. Then in 2000, we had to get Deltha O'neil.

I understand what Mobley did for us, and he was one of the few players picked at #15 that did anything in their career. As for O'Neal he was good for a seaosn here thanks to TrINT Green, but fell out of favor, and has revived his career in Cinnci. There's no arguing that Harrison and Alexander (to a lesser extent) are potential HOFers though, and certainly better players than both Mobley and O'Neal.

I hate to say it, but maybe trading down IS the right thing to do. I mean its the 15th pick and all, but if we got a real early 2nd and 3rd for the 22. What could we get for 15?

Well i can certainly tell you that a 2nd and 3rd won't cut it.

Here's what WILL work:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Broncos trade: 15th overall pick - Point Value: 1,050.

Patriots trade: 20th overall pick - Point Value 850., 3rd Round, Pick 11 (75th overall) - Point Value 215. Total Point Value: 1,065.

I dont know if we would trade with NE, or that they would trade with us, but i see this as a good trade.

This takes a little of the pressure off, and we can just draft the most talented guy available, while adding an early 3rd rounder that could be dealt for Javon, enabling us to keep the earlier third.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Broncos Trade: 15th Overall Pick - Point Value 1,050, 2nd Round, Pick 5 (37th overall) - Point Value: 530, 2nd Round, Pick 29 (61st overall) - Point Value 292. Total Point Value: 1,872.

Jets Trade: 4th Overall Pick - Point Value 1,800, 4th Round, Pick 6 (103rd overall) - Point Value: 92. Total Point Value: 1,892.

While the first is more realistic, the second obviously caters to Mock's nightly prayers.... and mine as well.

I wouldn't call it giving up your entire draft when we were so clever in acquiring those picks in the first place. We would then have the 4th overall, plus a 3rd and 4 4ths. We take Vernon Davis, then the most talented player available in the 3rd, and then draft 4 DL's in the fouth

If VY starts falling, we should consider moving up. O/W, stay put and... Lawson or move back. Do not pick WR. If we pick RB, he must be worth it. Don't go against broncos brass when it comes to RB's.

This thread goes to show what a crapshoot the draft really is. We did last year with a 2nd and a 3rd what we could'nt do with two firsts(draft a CB worth a damn). I like the idea of stockpiling 2nd's 3rd's and 4th's, it improves our odds off hitting on someone.

Mabye this year we draft 3 wr, 3de, and 3te. Seemed to work last year :)

I truly believe Champ also made a HUGE impact on our drafting CB's as well. He helped them along, and think about this, even guys like Cox came on and played well..

IMO we should trade 15 if we arent going to take a RB first round.
