I was just going to put the three division winners and then an "other" option, but Dallas is, arguably, as strong a team as any of the others that won a division title. They just happened to go toe to toe with SA and lost during the regular season. They're going to be a significant factor in the playoffs and could knock SA off. So, they got included.

its detroit's to lose. best 3 pt team, second best offensive efficiency I believe, commits fewest turnovers in nba history, has 5 good defenders and has atleast one clutch performer.

Yes, totally a Pistons guy and I'd be very dissappointed if they don't get it done this year. They have the right chemistry, solid bench, great defense, are injury free, a good coach in the fold.....
It's just they're year. Let the teams in the West pummel each other and then clean up the scraps. Good Times!

Where is KOBE's team, c'mon, haven't you been listening to Jim Rome - tha Lakurs are in!!!!! If Nash or James gets the MVP, then Phil Jackson deserves coach of the year for making a cake out of mud.

Only choices should be spurs and Pistons. If the Suns were at full strength with Amare they might have a chance but they have some banged up players.

04-23-2006, 11:50 PM
Dallas has a shot. They have what it takes to beat SA. If Josh Howard/Marquis Daniels/Adrian Griffin can take advantage of the mismatch with Duncan defending and consistently get by him on the perimeter on the way to the bucket, Dallas will win. That matchup is where the series will be decided.
If Josh Howard is healthy and Daniels looks anything like he did in game 1 vs. Memphis, Dallas will exploit that matchup.
I think that Dallas has a 45% chance of beating SA, with 5% of Dallas' 50/50 shot going to SA for homecourt.

Suns fan here. Let's see how far the Spurs, Pistons and Mavs get without their 2 best big men. None of those would even be in the playoffs. Pretty amazing they won 54 games with all the crap they had to go through.

Duncan has been about 80% all year.
Dallas has played with all of their players only a couple of times this season.
Phoenix isnt the only team who has dealt with injury issues. Stoudemire is not the best player on that team (Nash is), and Marion is better than anything that Dallas can throw out there beside Nowitzki.
Phoenix might not beat the Lakers. They will struggle against their second round opponent, and they are outclassed by both SA and Dallas. PHX has an easy path to the WCF (compared to SA and Dallas), but both of those two teams are so superior that you have to be crazy to think that PHX will go into that series favored on the road.

Yes but to make fun of a team when their 2 best big men are out for the playoffs is pretty gay IMO. Plus Phoenix would be 100times better right now with Stoudemire and Kurt Thomas. If they were healthy they would be better than Dallas and Miami for sure and almost as good as Detriot and San Antonio.

I dont think that Kurt Thomas matters all that much in the end, but even if Stoudemire returned the Suns wouldnt be in that category.
Stoudemire looked awful in his return. Other players have taken 3-4 seasons to recover from that surgery, and most who have that surgery dont recover fully. Stoudemire looked as though his explosiveness was gone and that his lateral quickness was gone. I fear that his career might have lost alot of its lustre.

No hate for phoenix, Nash is one of my faves. What I dont like is the hype that surrounds them. They are an above average playoff team. Nothing more, nothing less. They just arent classified with the top three, IMO. My rankings would look like this:
1 Detroit
2 SA
3 Dallas
4 Miami
5 Phoenix

Pistons. They're clicking on all cylinders, so to speak.

Lets see them play with Ducan at 0%, which is what Amare is...

Do you not realize that if Amare was playing, that they'd have argueably the 3 best players at their respecitve postions? PG, SF and PF?

Phoenix might not beat the Lakers Ha! Dude, your crazy...How are they outclassed by SA AND Dallas, I understand the Spurs but, why the Mavs? You kept saying the in MVP thread that the "other guys on Dallas besides Dirk arent worth a lick...but, Phoenix has Marion and whoever else that is better than the Mavs players"...How is Dallas "so superior" to Phoenix then? Because they won more games in the regular season? Pffft

2. Spurs
3. healthy suns

Dallas is superior because of:
1) Nowitzki.
2) the league's most efficient offense under Nowitzki
3) Post defense
4) more wins
5) more wins against good teams

Ludo, I think that the Suns will win, but the Lakers obviously gave them some serious trouble on their own floor. That's not encouraging for Suns fans.
Their problem is that they can get leads quickly, but they can lose them just as fast because they have no defense at PG and at C. Those are the two most important positions to defend.

I firmly believe if they are healthy (which they clearly werent last year against the pistons) then they will take out the Pistons, Shaq will take that series personally since the Pistons have been his nemsis.8') Big guys still rule in the NBA and thats why I picked the Spurs vs Miami in the finals .

Im not concerned about 4 seeds (outside of complaining about the terrible seeding procedures). Dallas is the second-best team in the conference right now. They have to beat SA to make the finals. Everyone else is a lamb for the slaughter ;D (including the Suns).
I think that Dallas beats Detroit in a 7 game series. Dallas smacked Detroit around the only time they played with two full lineups this season. 37 points I believe.

You can tell that they really put the work in to get their pregame stuff together.
"The team that stops the other team when it counts and puts more points on the board will win the game."
Really? I never would have guessed! ;)
