Okay, okay. Caveat emptor. Anybody can be anybody on the internet.

Still, this is a condensed version of a dialog between Jet fans and somebody supposedly on the inside with an "NFC South" team (which can only be the Saints if you read between the lines). Of course, later he switches and refers to the Titans as "we" more than once so perhaps he means "AFC South". His user name is "Bongo".

The gist of it is that Leinart fired Leigh Steinberg because Tom Condon promised him he could make a deal to get Leinart to stay in Cali and pay him like the #2 pick in the draft.

There are still some wild cards and they are trying to cement the wild cards to make the whole deal go down which might not happen until draft day.

It goes like this:

The Raiders will trade up with the Saints and the Jets to take Leinart at #2.
The Saints will move down to #4 and take Mario Williams. The Jets will wind up at #7 and take D'Brickashaw Ferguson. The Saints will then trade Williams to the Jets for Ferguson. Condon is also working on the Titans not to screw up the arrangement or, as a fallback, become the third team.

This depends on some factors:
1. That Houston will take Reggie Bush, almost assured because nobody is listening to their trade down offers.
2. That the Titans will then take Young or Cutler.
3. That the Packers, with Williams taken at #4, will take their second option which is A.J. Hawk.
4. That the Niners will take Vernon Davis which is a virtual lock unless somebody gives them a path to Reggie Bush (read between the lines on the last part of the post).

Besides that, the flies in the ointment are dickering with Sleazy Al on compensation. Davis wants to move Jerry Porter instead of his 2007 #1. The Jets and the Saints will both need to get some comp out of the deal in order for it to sell to their fan bases.

But apparently Davis and Condon are working to try to make this happen.

This guy also confirms that the Broncos were rebuffed at trading up ahead of the 49ers to take Davis. It seems they were told they had to give up both #1s and more but the Broncos wouldn't bite. So then the Broncos traded down so they are no longer a factor in all of this.

Again, take it for what it's worth.

Hopefully it works out. I'd love to see Matt in Oakland.

Interesting. Greasy Al, working and working. Hopefully, he screws the faiders up even more.

Very doubtful. You don't work pre-draft trades that assume a particular player will be available in a specific spot so that he might then be traded to someone else. Too complicated. especially considering Brick falling to 7 is a bit of a longshot.

Then we watch Vernon Davis jump over the moon to 15.

Me too.

That assures me that JOkeland will still continue to be a joke.

Too complicated. especially considering Brick falling to 7 is a bit of a longshot.

And yet Gosselin now has Brick falling to #8 on his own. Personally, I think Brick should be rated higher than that but stranger things have happened.

The point is to essentially "stacK" the first seven picks of the draft so everyone gets what they want or are forced to take a particular option. It would seem a lot of palms would need to be greased to make that work. IMO, it's assumed you'd have to give up next year's #1 to make something like that work since the Raiders have no other valuable chips.

Guys, I know all about Bongo. My wife is a big Titans fan and we've seen a lot of Bongo.

He is a joke. He does hear a lot of things but mainly he throws everything out there in hopes something sticks and the other posters can bask in the greatness that is Bongo.

At one time he presented himself as some type of medical consultant for the Saints. His son apparantly played at Vandy and he is a total Cutler homer. He proclaims to be a Titan fan.

Don't put a lot of stock into anything you hear from him. Do some checking around, he posts on a lot of other boards and really works a lot of different fans from various teams.

I really hoping the source of this was that college kid that had inside information from Abraham trade to the broncos.

Same here.

I'd hate to see Vince Young, AJ Hawk, Vernon Davis, Bunkley, or Ngata there.

That kid wasn't that far off. The Jets obviously wanted #29 from the Broncos and they got it. They just had to get somebody else to actually *take* Abraham which was just fine with me. The Broncos don't need one more whiny malingerer.

That kid wasn't that far off.

Yeah he was. Gotta have a contract in place before a tagged player can be traded and Denver never had any serious negotiations with Abraham besides asking what type of money he was looking for. To come out and say that a deal was imminent and the only thing holding it up was the start of free agency is not being close to nailing the trade.
