Hello everyone! In my desperation and frustration, I'm turning to the board for some tech help.

So I got this new Verizon phone because it supposedly comes with an MP3 player. The V-cast allows you to link your phone to Windows media player and sync files to your phone. Well everytime I go through the process, WMP player doesn't transfer any of the files and says "Error: The server threw an exception." And has a Web help link to here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/webhelp/default.aspx?&id=80010105

so it says I need a decoder, but I already have three DVD decoders installed and they are working, so am I just cursed or is there something I'm not doing?

I'm not sure, the salesman sold me on the V-cast as well when I got my new phone, then I found out that V-cast was not avalible in Colorado, I think Denver has been added lately though.

Well, I'm not trying to use V-cast (Which is available by the way.) I'm just trying to dump MP3's onto my phone.

I know you have to sign up and pay to have access to mobile web to be able to download things from a computer "wirelessly" other than that the only way I know is what I had to do is by a memory card for the phone, and a card reader to hook it up to your PC, then just click and drag.

I thought that meant you had to use the V-Cast

No, see Windows media player needs to convert the files into WMA format. I can drag and directly deposit the files to my phone, but sinc theyre MP3's and WMA's they don't do anything. There is something wrong when my computer tries to talk to my phone using Media Player, and I don't know what it is. ~Popps~

I know you can use Nero to convert MP3's to different formats, other than that I got nothing, I just used the card and took the files right out of My Music folder

Try re-installing WMP 10 (if you don't have WMP10, upgrade now); it sounds like the app itself is wigging out. If it really is a codec problem (which I doubt), download and install something like the K-Lite Basic Codec Pack and see if that fixes it.

Hit it with a hammer. Are you sure one of your worm pets didn't get inside it?

I have ten, but I'll try and roll-back and re-install. Doesn't make much sense.

So I just did some research online, someone was having a similar problem, and they found that the song title on the computer wasn't allowing it to be transferred properly.

SO, it could possibly be the length, special characters used, or other problems with the file name that is causing the recognition problem

That's what you get when you buy a phone in the food court in front of the cookie store.
