The Denver Broncos are hosting several leading collegiate wide receivers for visits as draft day draws near.

The following players have visited or will visit the Denver Broncos:

Maurice Stovall/WR/Notre Dame (visit)

Ht: 6-4.5 Wt: 217 40: 4.58 Year: 5Sr Scout.com Ranking: WR 4

Bio: Three-year starter coming off a career season. Posted 60/1,023/11 as a senior after 21/313/1 the prior year.

Pos: King-sized wide out with a developing game. Beats jams at the line of scrimmage, shields opponents away with his frame and out-positions defenders to make the reception. Sells routes, adjusts to the errant throw and makes the reception in stride. Consistently extends to make the reception away from his frame. Offers the quarterback a huge target in the middle of the field. Gives effort blocking downfield and seals lanes open for ball carriers.

Neg: Does not always display a great sense of timing or anticipation. Lacks the speed to get separation downfield.

Analysis: A large receiver who plays to his size, Stovall improved as the season progressed last year. Moving up draft boards, he is a first-day pick with potential as a second wide out in a conventional system or a West Coast offense.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chad Jackson/WR/Florida (visit)

Ht: 6-1 Wt: 213 40: 4.35 Year: 3Jr Scout.com Ranking: WR 1

Bio: Moved into a full-time starting position last season, producing career-best numbers of 88/900/9 and winning All-Conference honors. Started three games as a sophomore, posting 29/648/6.

Pos: Athletic receiver slowly developing a complete game. Uses his frame to shield away opponents, adjusts to the errant throw and extends to make the reception away from his frame. Sturdy receiver who gets airborne and pulls the pass from a crowd or takes a pounding then holds onto the ball. Has the speed to beat defenders deep.

Neg: Must improve his route-running skills. Gets marginal results blocking.

Analysis: A terrific prospect with an ever-improving game, Jackson showed signs of dominance as a junior then went on to have an outstanding combine. Moved into the first 30 selections and should develop into a No. 1 receiver at the next level.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Santonio Holmes/WR/Ohio St. (visit)

Ht: 5-10.5 Wt: 188 40: 4.40 Year: 4Jr Scout.com Ranking: WR 2

Bio: Three-year starter awarded All-Conference honors after his sophomore and junior campaigns. Led the team in receiving last year with 53/977/11, also averaging 12.8 yards on 11 punt returns. Sophomore totals included 55/769/7.

Pos: Consistent wideout with a polished game. Fluid releasing off the line, quickly gets into breaks and separates from opponents. Sneaks downfield and easily adjusts to the errant throw running full speed. Physical, battles to make the tough catch and is effective running after the reception. Effectively uses the sidelines and gets vertical, high-pointing the ball and plucking the pass from the air. Consistently extends to make the reception away from his frame and is a reliable pass-catcher.

Neg: Below-average blocker. More of a one-speed receiver who does not have a sudden burst.

Analysis: Though not explosively fast or very large, Holmes is a solid football player who finds a way to produce. Should flourish as a second receiver in the NFL.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sinorice Moss/WR/Miami-Fla. (visit-4/17)

Ht: 5-8 Wt: 185 40: 4.41 Year: 4Sr Scout.com Ranking: WR 3

Bio: Posted career-best numbers as a full-time starter last season with 35/604/6. Started four games as a junior totaling 20/351/3.

Pos: Explosive wideout with game-breaking speed. Fast off the line, quick to top speed and easily runs past opponents with a flip of the switch. Displays adjustment, body control and contorts in midair to pull the ball from a crowd. improving route-runner and separates from defenders.

Neg: Short and loses battles for the ball. Does not consistently make the difficult, over-the-shoulder reception downfield. Marginal blocker.

Analysis: Ever-improving the past six months, Moss capped a solid final season with a good showing at the Senior Bowl. A potential second wideout at the next level

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Daryn Colledge/OL/Boise St.
Ht: 6-4.5 Wt: 299 40: 5.04 Year: 5Sr

Bio: Four-year starter awarded All-Conference honors since his sophomore campaign. Previously timed at 4.93 in the 40-yard dash.

Pos: Hard-working offensive tackle who was very productive on the college level. Nasty and works to finish off opponents, yet a lineman who plays with great intelligence. Patient, keeps his feet moving throughout the play and slides off the edge in pass protection. Makes outstanding use of blocking angles and body positioning.

Neg: Not a dominant run-blocker who gets much movement off the line. Marginal skills in motion. Does not possess the height teams want in a blind-side tackle.

Analysis: A coachable prospect and favorite of the Boise State staff, Colledge is a polished lineman with a good

Stephen Gostkowski/K/Memphis (worked out)

Gostkowski is one of the top kickers in the country last year. He finished his senior season by connecting on 19-of-22 field goals and all 32 PATs, with a long of 53-yards and was 9-of-9 from 40-plus yards. Gostkowski also holds Memphis and Conference

I think many of our CU fans will be upset to see Gostkowski's name there, when Crosby is going to be there next year. He sure looked like a stud to me when he prevented us from shutting CU out with that 58 yarder he made easily.

Here is some more info on team prospect visits.

So we're allowed to bring in 20 prospects for personal workouts and we bring in a kicker? :kiddingme

Personally I especially doubt the NFL capability of WRs under 5'10. Unless you're gifted with freakish athletic ability, it's a lot to ask for a 5'8 fellow to overcome significant weight and height disadvantages when stacked against killer CBs on long routes or scary middle linebackers and safeties over the middle (which is what we want, right? Lelie proved that having a solo burner isn't going to add any consistent dimension to our offense that we're looking for). Eddie Mac is the studliest over-the-middle guy I can recall from the recent Broncos. Anyway, I think if we're hoping for a solid over-the-middle guy to eventually succeed and learn from Rod, we should look for a beefy guy. Stovall looks good. Sinorice Moss does not.

Stovall seems to be a guy everybody likes. Mike Hass has his share of fans, too. I think the size question is really what separates Jackson and Holmes. I'm not high on taking either one in the first round, but I would go with the guy with the way better triangle numbers if I had to choose.

Looks like the Broncos won't be going WR in round 1.

have you ever seen a mock draft that got any of denver's picks right?

Since all the players that we draft never know Denvers is interested until draft day, you can cross those players visting off the list.

Oooh, a mock draft said we're taking CJ in the first...... must be true!

Yep - remember mock drafts are written by7 the same folk that projected the Broncs to be 6-10 and 8-8 last year.

lol good point, i just meant it seems to be the consensus pick by most and to just say "broncos wont go WR" without any evidence kinda threw me like i missed an article link or something

I think if the Broncos don't get Walker in a trade, they about have to go with a WR high in the draft. It's doubtful Stovall will still be there when their 2nd rounder comes around and not sure I would take him at #22 either, so unless a trade down with that #22 and get an earlier 2nd rounder, don't see them getting Stovall.

To me, Holmes is a smaller version of Lelie and I don't think they need that. Jackson would seem the best fit of the top WR's and availability.

Every year when our draft picks are interviewed they're asked if they had a feeling that Denver would be team, and almost to a man they say something like "not really, I hadn't heard anything from Denver at all leading up to the draft". So whenever I hear that we're talking with someone I always assume that to mean we're not taking them. If we visiting with every WR, it's a safe assumption that we'll go another direction.

Didn't D.J., Darrent, Lelie and Portis all say they got little or no contact prior to the draft from the Broncos?

And Darrent and Foxworth, the list goes on. Shanahan is always ultra secretive about who he's after.

I do not believe he was the top, but he did say he had the most ceiling. Obviously, Williams and Foxworth were more ready to go from day one though.

That Gostkowski kid was just on ESPN for the college skills competition, I think it was a rerun but it was the first time I saw it. He beat everyone without even using his mulligan. Nailed a 51 yarder, against a cross wind, about 15 yards over the upright.

He's got one hell of a leg. General conscenus is that this is a bad K/P draft, if we can grab him late and stash him on the PS for a year it could really pay off, what with Elam's age.

ya he did way better than everyone...CJ also dominated the receivers competition(that includes VD). make what you want of that. the kicker one is a direct comparison of course but CJ did extremely well in multiple events

Jackson is clearly the best WR in this draft if you ask me. Doesn't change the fact that he's late 1st/early 2nd round talent though. He's getting tons of fake pub because he's the only WR without a glaring physical flaw (too short, too slow, too thin, etc.) that disqualifies the rest of this WR crop from being top 20 prospects.
