In 1994 we drafted Tom Nalen and Keith Burns in the 7th round. WOW.

Considering a lot of people on here want us to use the 2 1st round picks on offensive players take a little look at previous 1st round picks and tell me the last 1st round offensive player we drafted that made a telling impact on this franchise???

Ashley Lelie has led the league in YPC the past two seasons. He also had over a 1000 yards last year. That is definitely an impact.
But also keep in mind that we usually draft defense in the first round under Shanahan. So you don't have much to work with when asking what first round offensive player has made an impact on the franchise.

Tom Nalen in the 7th in '94 or TD in the 6th in '95 as biggest steal?

Sharpe in the 7th and Meck in the 12th are up there, too.

I know if we get more than 1 Hokie in this draft, than Travis McGriff gave you the incriminating photos of Shanny. :)

Denver's not exactly lighting it up on draft day
'98
No one left
'99
Wilson's is all that's left
'00
Gold
'01
Hamilton
'02
Lelie is solid
Portis netted Bailey and Bell
Brandon is a decent backup
'03
Foster is it
'04
DJ, Tatum, Watts, and BVP (Shoate on IR last year)
'05
Looks good so far, but so did the '00 and '02 drafts after their first seasons.
So in the last 8 drafts, Denver has retained 14 guys, with Shoate and Ernster on IR last season. Bailey and Warren were added through trading a former pick and a pick last year. Lepsis was a UDFA added under Shanny, and Rod, Nalen, Elam, and House all pre-date Shanahan.
They really need to hit on this draft.

Just means we're due for a decent draft, gotta play law of averages.
