Anyone going tonight?

The Nuggs of the first half of the Clips game need to show up and play for 48 minutes. This is a big game on national TV. Gotta have it. The Nuggs have got to play some defense, the D has been terrible lately. Man, this season has been such a roller coaster ride.

Go Nuggs, get that majic number down to 2 tonight!!

reg-gie reg-gie reg-gie

I say we give the man with the hustle the start. Francisco Elson is a no talent ass clown imo. You can tell, Reggie has really been working on his game. He's getting a LOT more confident with the ball (not MAGICAL or anything, but he's dribbling better and those touches sure look softer), going stronger, and with more frequency and agression to the hoop, and really REALLY hustlin.

I dunno if anybody else caught it, but good ol Scott Hastings said he reminded him of Oscar Robertson during that twolves game...shooting to himself for a better shot. Could be a sign of things to come.

Has the "self proclaimed Kobe stopper" been talkin any **** yet today? I wanna hear some good sound bytes, you KNOW he's got something to say, maybe he'll get the pregame interview on altitude.

SO, here's some useless information on Melo. My next door neighbor works down at Ocean Journeys, and Yesterday the man himself came down with Lala to go for a behind the scenes tour.
Turns out, Tigers are his favorite animal. He got to step into some of the holding areas for the big cats (actually, lala told him, and I quote "you must be trippin melo")and seemed pretty excited.
All and all, my neighbor said he's a really nice guy, and he's ready to play tonight.
she did NOT however, bring me home anything autographed.

Anyways, I'm sure he's pissed off and roarin to go after he found out his little tantrum is costin fifteen gr.

No, I'm not goin to the game tonight, but i AM going to the Golden state game (whoopee). Keep an eye on Luke walton, that kid is a baller. Kobe is probably going to have one of his record setting games, but in the end, we're comin out victorious.

GO NUGGS

Melo drains it. As if anyone in the building would ever expect anything else at this point. Is there a reason we bother having other guys take shots? Like, ever?

Nuggs try their best to choke another game away. And what do you know--they start to give Melo the ball again, and we end up winning. Funny, how that works.

Lack of execution (missed two alleyoops in the 4th) and lack of long range threat to spread the defense out.

They will. They'll max extend Melo this off season and he'll be here for at least seven more seasons. The Nuggets are pretty mediocre right now, but there's not much reason to worry. They've got a future. He's just 21 years old. Since Lebron is around, people forget how rare it is for a player this young to be this good. But Melo's going to be flat out amazing in three or four years. He's still going to be young and peaking when Kmart's contract mercifully expires. Maybe by some miracle Kmart can be traded for expiring contracts before then.

But seriously Denver, Melo's worth getting excited about.

That was the thinking behind giving up three #1's for Kenyon...why they thought he could create when he was spoonfed easy baskets by Jason Kidd in his prime against Leastern Conference PF's is beyond me. Especially since we already had Nene to work inside and presumably rookie Carmelo would grow to be a finisher. That only leaves a point to get the ball out and a shooter to spread the defense, along with a passing big man (though Camby isn't all that good at tha, he does have a deft shot and his defense makes up for any offense).

Maybe we can swing a trade with the Knicks to pick up a couple shooters.

The local sports talk radio guys have said that they've looked further into the trade talks that went on between Denver & Philly before the trade deadline and that the proposed deal for Iverson was a lot closer to happening than people think. They've also said that they wouldn't be surprised if those talks start up again this summer.

Just something to think about.

That's cool... but people in general don't seem too excited about the Nuggets. Not that I blame them, they're frustrating as hell to follow. But I wonder if people realize what we have in Melo.

Remember last year? Man, everyone was hating on Melo. I kept trying to remind people that he was just 20 years old and no one wanted to listen. I got so tired of having to defend him all the time. It's great to see him vindicating those of us who still had faith in him.

Carmelo is the first franchise player the Nuggets have had since Alex English. We've had some pretty good players in between (Adams, Mutombo, Phonz, McDyess, etc.) but no one quite like this. I hope that the fans around here can appreciate that, I know I do.

Yeah, I just wish we had gotten something more than just Nene or Skita in the draft previous to build a 1-2 punch...or get a diamond in the rough type...given our many late round/2nd round picks in recent years.

Iverson is a talent. But I don't think a ball dominating combo guard is the way to go. Sure Melo is so young that he can afford to be 2nd fiddle for 3-5 years under Iverson...but I don't really know how far we can go with that...especially since we'd have to gut the team make it work cap wise/trade wise.

Sure we could throw Kenyon, a pick, and any complementary player not named Camby into there...and maybe get a small piece back...but then we have the issue of Evans, Elson, and Nene ALL possibly leaving this offseason with more than 18 million sunk in Iverson so we'd be over the cap most likely.

What would the front court look like?

Camby, Najera, Kleiza, maybe a draft pick and a Philly throw in?? That ain't gonna cut it in the West, not with Camby's injury bug.

I feel like you have been reading my mind. we had season tickets to the nugs as a kid. I still have my J. Rose jersey back home. My freshman year in college I told my roomie that the then 17 win nuggets would take advantage of a deep draft and be a playoff team in 3 years. I was way off they were a playoff team in a year.

LeBron no doubt is more physically gifted then Carmelo, many would also say the same about Marino compared to Elway. Physical skills can only get you so far the difference just like with Elway is when the game is on the line Melo wants and needs the ball in his hands. He just made his 11th game winning or tying shot. He might not have to triple doubles in 10 games nor score 81 points but I always know that when no. 15 has the ball in his hands with a chance to win the game we are looking pretty. "King" James can be as flashy as he wants I'll take clutch over flash any day.

DENVER (AP) -- Kobe Bryant can have the scoring title. Carmelo Anthony is cementing himself as the NBA's best in the clutch.

Anthony's jumper with 3.8 seconds left in overtime gave the Denver Nuggets a 110-108 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night. It was the eighth time this season he's made a big shot in the waning seconds.

"I live for stuff like that, getting the ball in the last seconds," Anthony said. "Whether I make the shot or miss it, I would rather put that pressure on me."

Bryant lives for these moments, too. But after two timeouts, Bryant, who scored 42, was hounded by Ruben Patterson and Greg Buckner. So Luke Walton inbounded to Kwame Brown. He tossed it back to Walton, who was long on a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

"I told the guys that the team is going to double- and triple-team Kobe at the end. So he's not going to get the ball," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "Somebody else is going to have to step and make shots."

Bryant, whose four-point play sent the game into overtime at 99, walked off the Pepsi Center court dejected, shrugging his shoulders in frustration at not getting the ball and the chance to match or upstage Anthony.

"That's a good, astute observation. I wanted the shot," Bryant said. "I always want the ball in my hands. They had me covered. I wish I could have gotten a better screen on the play. But Luke had a good look in the corner."

Walton agreed.

"I had a good look," he said. "The ball felt real good on the release. It just caught the back of the rim and went over."

Bryant broke Elgin Baylor's franchise record with his 24th 40-point game of the season.

'Melo has hardened his reputation this season as the game's top clutch performer. He is now 10-for-15 in shots to win or tie in the final 10 seconds for his career, and his eight career game-winning baskets are just three shy of what Michael Jordan managed in 15 NBA seasons.

"It just seems like he has a cockiness and confidence to make shots," Nuggets coach George Karl said. "In my career, I don't know if I've ever had a guy make as many shots when it counts."

Anthony's 33 points led the Nuggets, who closed in on their first Northwest Division title since 1987-88. Any combination of Denver wins or Utah losses totaling two will give the Nuggets the crown.

"I wanted it in regulation, but they were denying me too much. It happens," Anthony said. "At the end of regulation, if it gets like that down the stretch, I want to put the game on my back in overtime, and I did a pretty good job of that in overtime. I think that if I'm open I can make that shot. Devean George was going to the left, so I went a little right and I just took the shot."

It was also great to send all the freaking bandwagon Laker fans home quiet. I would say one in four people last night was a "Laker Fan". Kobe is as whiney as Tim Duncan when he does not get a foul call. Good grief Kobe, you get enough phantom calls as it is, deal with it. Melo is a stud, but I don't see this Nuggets team doing any damage in the Playoffs. Teams are going to focus on Melo and make someone else beat them. I don't think it's necesarily that the world thinks it's doom for the Spurs, but with that said, the talent in the league is just better now... or perhaps more spread out, that a 1 seed vs. an 8 seed isn't a complete walkover anymore.

I'm not saying the Kings beat the Spurs in round, not at all, because they're my pick to go to the Finals and lose to the Pistons. But what I am saying is that the Kings could steal a game or two and make it competitive. Plus, with Duncan banged up, you never know what could happen.

Like I said, I still think the Spurs go to the Finals, but if there was a year somebody could sneak by them, it might be this year.

But seriously Denver, Melo's worth getting excited about.

I was pretty pissed when the Pistons passed him up but things worked out all right.
What would that team be like if they had drafted Carmelo?

Melo is a stud for sure, but I'd take LeBron any day of the week without question.

Sure, I think you have to take Lebron if you had a choice between the two. But I'd take Melo over Wade, who is awesome, but he's older and he's playing with Shaq. Melo's done what he's done without having either a low post scorer or a perimeter scorer to take pressure off him. He is good enough to make this team a legitimate title contender in a few years if he has the right pieces around him.

Quoted for MF'ing Truth.

That deal was seconds away from being sent to the league office. AI will be dealt this off-season, and I think we have a decent shot. The only sad thing is, K-Mart won't be sent in that deal.

If not Kenyon what could we have sent to the Sixers for Iverson?

He's on the books for 16+ million. Add in Watson, Najera, Vo, Bryon Russell and you're still 3 million short. Take one of those guys out and add in Camby or Dre in and it come out even, but then you've gutted the team, with no financial freedom to sign anyone of merit.

He wouldn't have played much. Larry Brown was still there, and as much as Karl dislikes rooks, LB hates them.

Melo would still be good, but his confidence would have been shot in that environment.

Nene could be a key in that deal. He's due a new contract, but he's a restricted free agent. He could be signed and dealt to Philly.

With the kind of contracts that guys like Philly's own Samuel Dalembert got, Nene should get some nice coin. Especially with teams like Chicago & Toronto out there with plenty of cap space and a need for a big man.

The Nuggets need to make it really clear to all potential suitors for Nene that they intend to match any offer. That if they want him, they'll have to trade for him. Even if they have to overpay to match, it gives them another big contract that can be useful in future deals. It makes zero sense for the Nuggets to let Nene walk for nothing and I don't believe that they will.

Well this offseason we have options, but not sure what we could have done midseason to get Iverson without getting rid of Martin...not anything that allows the team to remain viable anyways.

I still don't think Iverson is an answer. No one can carry a team without help, but it's not like the 6'ers have gone anywhere recently with him.

I'm 99% sure that Martin was never part of the deal for AI. Nene, Lenard & Watson were the central pieces.
