Last year we tailgated with Meck77 and Sassy, and a whole lot of bronco fans. We were in Lot C, just as you come from the opposite side of the freeway, on Friars Rd. The past few years I have been getting there at 7am. Let me know where to start posting up. I am bringing a nice bbq, ez-up, and will probably have a few tables. We will most likely have about 4 cars.

John, are you reading this? That spot worked pretty well last year I thought.

The only thing is, Master Pain......With the spot being so close to the entrance, it will fill up fast.

The area under the marquee? If my memory is correct it did not really start filling up until 1.5 hours before KO, if not a little later. I think we got there around 10:30 last year and there was plenty of space to park. In any event, just tell me where to be.

Meck77

We took the marquee spot down at the crack of dawn last year. I'd say you correct MP in that the area was pretty empty until a couple hours to gametime.

Hogan11
12-05-2006, 08:31 PM
With the cost of group parking at $20 a spot and does not include parking your car and probably is on the outskirts, we should try to get as many cars to go into the lot together so we can make sure we take as many spaces together so we can take over the driveway that is next to cars. I dont want to have 100 people blocking others tailgate especially at an away game. If we had an RV, then we wouldnt have this problem. Next question is when is a reasonable time for people to want to get to the lot? If we can get 5 or 6 cars together, that might be a decent amount of ashpalt to take over.

You roping off the area again this year I take it?

I already told Sass we're gonna be there earlier this year.....I may need a buzz going before I see this game.

Ok, in any event, we should decide where to set up, because the majority of us will be without internet access from about thurs, or fri on.

I already told Sass we're gonna be there earlier this year.....

Well if you two would just get some sleep before gamedays....:wiggle:

This is what the lot looked like about an hour after we got there. Must have been about 8:00am or so. lol

If I were going I'd glady take down some spots when the lot opens. That's the only way to do it IMO. Something about being in an empty tailgating lot, lighting a grill, looking at a real quite stadium that just sets the ton for gameday in my book.

Have fun you guys!

*edit*

Here's something I've found that's fun to do during the tailgates. When a Charger fan walks up talking some smak...Reply with..."Oh btw what number was Dan Fouts". It's freakin hillarious when the "charger fans" look at one another and say "um..huh...did he play for us? What number was he? Was he our QB?". I'm serious it's a riot! I'd say less than 20% of "Charger Fans" I asked this question to a couple years ago knew the answer. The reason=There aren't alot of Charger fans.

Sleep...what's that??? Well, it might be possible if the Red Lion let us turn on some AC...the heat kicks in about 2 am over there and it's about 110 in the room! So we were up at 3:30 am for good for the KC game. Good thing room service opens at 6!!!

Just curious, is there something wrong with planning the tailgate at the same spot as last year? It seemed to work out really well.

That'd be my vote, as it is easy to find and get into but I am flying in and am not the one doing the leg work of bringing a grill, tent, etc. Ultimately I'll be where John decides he wants the TG to be.

OK LOT C it is. Pick a spot that can accomodate over 100 people. End of aisle. If everyone is cool with it, Ill be there. No roping off section as it wont be group parking. Will the beads be there too? Meck knows mack will be coming. I always look for the crease down their jersey showing that htey just unfolded it from the store they bought from the day before. Actually, i try to be cool with them as it is there house but we seem to rent it every year. Once they start, they get a mouth full from me. Trivia questions are fun. ANYONE want to print some easy questions up to rapid fire a them when they try to smack us? I think we only have to go back to Humphries, Flash Gordon, Bernsteine etc to see how much they know from late 90s.

broncofan2438
12-06-2006, 09:13 PM
Good idea, ok, i will get there between 7 and 7:30am. I will start setting up, we should have two tents (ez-ups), a bbq and two tables. I will be in a four door charcoal GMC truck. It has a lumber rack on it, and we should have our ten foot coors light bronco banner out. Keep your eyes open.
Lets get a final count on people

My recollection is that we were near the D4 and D5 parking areas, shown on the map, last year. The marquee sign is just north of the D5 mark towards Friars Road. I assume this is where we are planning on being since Lot C appears to be all reserved parking?

Can you be more specific? I mean there are a ton of black guys with a white TD jersey especially holding a camera with a big lens. Hilarious! Just look for me. Ill be the white guy with a Broncos jersey and a beer in my hand. Jason, we need some good photos of the tailgate and the action on the field. i am not bringing grill but i figure we need at least 2 to 3. Remember, I am not cooking the whole time. All have to chip in or u get frozen cow. Pick out d4 or d5 as long as we have lots of driveway room. If everyone like the spot from last year (not where i was but Meck and Company), then that shall do. You really can't miss that big sign and here is a pic towards the stadium from under the sign to give you some perspective. It's pretty far back but should give you guys plenty of room and allow for people to park nearby who show up late. You can see the D4 sign on the pole.

Don't forget to get a group shot! It's easy to do. CBF1 you are pretty much the loudest sum biatch in the lot. I'm sure you could coral everyone. lol

I dont have the privelege of Dads truck to hall it. I figure with the ticket, beer, soda, side items and meat for the BBQ all at a good price, I need to enjoy the tailgate too. with broncofan bringing a grill and i know of at least one other, It will be fine. An exhausted Sass here back from Diego...just got in a half hour ago.
Great trip...even a great time at the game and minus the score, it was a fun game. Thanks again John for a great tailgate and the tickets! (It's great to have someone we know take care of this for us! Hogan and I really appreciate having you there!)...fun seeing everyone again...EXCEPT POPPS AND PEZ! (and a few others...where were you all? )Jason, thanks again for the ride...we really appreciate it. It was fun meeting new Maners and great to see the ones we'd already met!

P.S. We saw NO RAIN and I would have rather had the rain and the score from last year than sun! (Dang, got to admit though, LT is one impressive RB.)

Dang Charger fans didn't even stick around until the end of the game to watch LT get the record and the Chargers to get the AFC West...fickle fans. I learned three things about charger fans...they think LT is GOD, They think they are going to the SB and they don't have a clue who Rivers is...LOL...very few River's jersey's in the stadium.

look on the main central threads for jason's photos. Ludo and I stole some of the shots for our avatars. I believe we were in the lot until 7 55 PM. Almost shut it down. Nothing like tailgating almost as long after the game than before. That is what it is about.

But we're still 6-1 ;D We'll take it!!!

Once again, it appears that I'm the last one to make it home from the game

Just wanna thank all that I had the pleasure to meet & re-meet this past weekend, especially John for making it all happen and CBF1 for setting me up.

Sass & I had a great time, as always...and the debate goes on as to whether or not we'll try to squeeze Diego in as the away game next year....in spite of the Chargers, we are falling in love with the city a little more with each visit.

Maybe we'll see you all again in Diego in '07, maybe not....stay tuned.

hogan, dont forget Broncofan2438. He was the only one to come through with the grill and had everything set up when I arrived before 10am (yes that beats last year by 30 minutes!). That meat wouldnt not have been very tasty frozen or chilled. Try to do it next year. Mark this down as the callout of a MNF game Broncos vs Chargers at MHW.

Oh hey, I'm not denying anyone their contributions....but for an out of towner like me (wayyyy out of town in my case) getting that seat is the #1 priority and that wouldn't be possible or anywhere near as great as it has been the last couple of years if it wasn't for you.

I just wanted to mention 2438 's contribution since many didnt know that he had everything set up and had the grill. It does take more than tickets to make a great game/tailgate. But i do welcome your compliment.
